• Praise for the Logos Business Model

Long Story Short: I saw a sale for a product. I investigated that product. I decided it wasn't for me. However, that inspired me to look for other products like it by other authors. I found one. I wanted to think about it so I started looking for a link to add it to a 'wish list'. I couldn't find it. ?!? Surprise! I own it already. Must have gotten

  • Re: What Tablet?

You can get a surface with a 1TB ssd from their website. However, you have to get the i7 processor and the 16GB ram. Price runs at $2600. We have ordered at least one that big at work and it does run very well.

  • Re: Slightly OT Laptop Battery Ratings

As an addition, these links might be useful. As an IT manager, I find that many people do things that are not conducive to good battery life (like leaving it plugged in all of the time). http://batterycare.net/en/guide.html http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2458636,00.asp Hope it helps Dean

  • Re: What Tablet?

I use my iPad for reading and my Desktop for primary study. I don't own a Surface, but we have several at the office. If you can tolerate the smaller screen (or less screen real estate when you scale up to 150%), I would say that a Surface is the best of both worlds. No one has complained about their surface at work. Dean

I forgot to say this is for Windows. Your mileage may vary on a Mac.

This might be a possibility... Go to Tools Go to Program Settings Then go to Accessibility and select Gray This will help some. It is probably not everything you are hoping for, but it should help a little. Good Luck Dean

  • Re: Speed on which Logos boots up

I just started Logos while watching the Task Manager / Performance Tab / Ethernet. I did it again to be sure. There is internet activity when you first start logos. At least there is when it defaults to opening the 'home' page. I suspect that activity also happens even on a blank screen so that any content about sales, events, etc. is available when

  • Re: Need advice on a hard drive space issue (must have at least 1GB free to index)

Just a note that might help. Whenever a windows drive gets more than 75% or so full, windows slows down immensely. I would suggest an external hard drive with USB connection to offload some files. Your computer will run much better.

Awesome idea! I can't find it in uservoice - I will look again in a few days.

  • Re: USERVOICE review: Create a PBB marketplace

I want to add my support to this. First, this is something that will make this community even stronger. Second, anything that promotes additional content will provide additional value to Logos when compared to its competitors. Third, the created revenue stream can easily be tailored to fit additional effort by Logos to vet any materials for copyright

  • Re: USERVOICE review: make it possible to MERGE or SPLIT notes files.

I would like to add my voice to this (I already voted). No matter how experienced one is, no matter how carefully one has thought out their organization, their notes will likely continue to grow in size over time. Sooner or later, a given note file will become unwieldy and need to be dealt with. An automated split function that ensured no loss of integrity

  • Re: Logos, Windows 10 and SSD

Mark is right...the original concerns about SSDs and wearing out due to writing too often are not nearly as, well, concerning as they used to be. I would not, however, recommend having the windows 'swap' file (virtual memory) on an SSD. Out of curiosity, have you considered a Surface Pro?
Re Dean: This is the first time I hear someone recommend OS to install on the harddrive. Would you change this recommendation when I install a 256gb SSD?
That depends on your usage. Windows tends to slow down if the hard drive becomes more than 75% full. I don't know exactly why, but it is so. It is the first place

  • Re: WIFI drops

We have had some strange occurrences like this at work. We eventually solved them by getting a different WiFi access point. You might look into upgrading the firmware on the device that provide WiFi or perhaps replacing it. I know that is not a satisfying answer, but it may be easier (and cheaper considering your time) than fighting the WiFi drivers

While I was writing that, several others posted answers. I wasn't trying to reduce their contributions -- they are correct. Also, I have looked a little further and it does appear that the machine you are talking about has two drives... that is good. The real question is now which drive will Dell install the OS? Good Luck! Dean

I can't speak from direct experience with Logos, but I am an IT professional and can give you some generalities. Note after rereading my post - As I reread this, I realized that it may simply not apply to you. I suspect that the 1TB+128gb is a hybrid drive. If it is, in fact two separate drives, then you are half way to what I think is the optimum solution
