• Something Strange w/ This Forum

I just posted a message on the Logos 6 forum. My wife and I are traveling to Israel next month and I asked for recommendations on Logos resources that could be useful. I checked back in a few minutes to see if there were any replies and my post was AWOL. Just couldn't find it. I checked the link from the automatic email notice confirming that I had

  • Upcoming Trip to Israel

    My wife and I are traveling to Israel next month for an eight day tour. I'm taking a PC so I can access Logos for background stuff. What Logos resources should I bookmark for use there? Also, what do you recommend I review in advance? Personal background: Baptist pastor of small central Texas church, M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary;

  • Re: Surface Pro 3 i5 vs i7

I have enjoyed a Surface Pro 3, i5 since June, 2014. Logos 6 runs like a top. Everything runs lightning fast. The hardware is great. I upgraded from a Surface Pro 2 to the Pro 3, mainly for the screen real estate. The Pro 3's lower weight was an added bonus.

  • Re: Logos Doesn't Re-size in Windows 10

Hmm. If it is a video issue, you'd think Microsoft would get the drivers ready for their own hardware before releasing a new OS. Other possibilities I should consider?

  • Logos Doesn't Re-size in Windows 10

Friends, When I re-size Logos 6 under Win10, I get black areas and mis-arranged Logos tiles where the new window should be. I also get hash if I mouse over these black areas. If I alt-tab to another app, then back to Logos, everything is fine until I re-size again. All other apps I've opened so far behave normally. Hardware: Surface Pro 3 (i5, 8gb RAM

  • Re: College Press NIV commentary

I've used it via Logos for years. It's less technical than something like Word Biblical Commentary; more thorough than the IVP New Testament Commentary or Bible Knowledge Commentary. In the College Press Commentary, Greek and Hebrew words are usually transliterated into English. IMHO most of its comments tend to be more traditional exposition than oriented

  • Re: Surface Pro 3

I had a Surface Pro 2; bit the bullet and sprang for a Pro 3. The reviews addressed shortcomings I had noticed: screen ratio, touch pad, weight (and weight-distribution) and to some extent, kickstand. I have the 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD model (same specs as my SP2). And as you might guess, I have a very kind and somewhat indulgent spouse. Logos runs fast

  • Re: Mourning the passing of Logos Bible Atlas

Unfortunately, both my PCs are running 64-bit Windows 8. I will ask a tech-savvy friend about a virtual "Win 7" configuration, but it sounds above my paygrade. As a matter of fact, I ran Logos Bible Atlas on a virtual XP machine under Win 7. I'll do some web surfing and see if there are workarounds. My query to Logos tech support ended up at customer

  • Mourning the passing of Logos Bible Atlas

I'm having a sad day. I can't get Logos Bible Atlas to load on my new Windows 8 computers. I've tried under a variety of legacy settings and it just won't do. This marvelous app lets you create customized maps of the Ancient Near East, choosing colors, which sites are included, and just the regions you want to show. They are easily exported as bitmaps

  • Re: Tax Deduction
If you are clergy and have funeral or wedding income you need to claim as income, you can claim it on Schedule C and claim Logos and any books and out of pocket expenses on the same form. You can do this even if it is a loss which will reduce your taxable income. Being clergy is important to be able to do this. Most clergy

  • Tax Deduction

Any clever accountants out there figured out how to deduct Logos taxes off of their 1040, except as a "Schedule A" itemized deduction? Thanks, Steve
At the bottom of your email there should be a link to allow you to unsubscribe from those emails.
Richard, of COURSE there's a link to unsubscribe from those emails. Wish I'd thought of that myself! Thanks, Steve

  • Need to reduce amount of Logos email

Friends, I am receiving 2 or 4 Logos.com emails a day and it's a bit much for me. The only thing I have checked in my account profile for notifications is "pre-publications." I don't mind keeping that, but the "March Madness" flood, "Logos Sales," "Logos Talk," etc. need to go. I could filter and block, but I'd rather cut the flow at the source. I'm

That fixed it, Richard! I actually rebooted Logos between settings changes (probably unnecessary). Thanks. Steve Johnson

  • Re: Unwanted Footnotes in Pillar

Um, well said, George. Can do! It's just a bit confusing to have some footnote that belong in my document (citing refs from Logos) and some that don't belong, and having to edit all the latter out. On an additional, um, note, some sources paste in just fine: College Press NIV Commentary seems to function well.

  • Unwanted Footnotes in Pillar

Friends, When I cut and paste from resources (like the Pillar Commentary on Hebrews by O'Brian) I'm getting superscripted footnotes from the commentary text, even though in Program Settings I have "Copy Footnotes" set to "No." This seemed to start about the time I upgraded to a new package during Logos's sale in September. Has anyone else noticed this
On my laptop even complex searches with lists take only a fraction of a second, across a library of > 2,000 resources. That's why I would not expect a "material" impact with adding resources. But admittedly, I have an i7 CPU and a SSD.
Go ahead! Rub it in!

  • Perseus Collection: Administrative Overhead?

I've been scrolling through some of the listings that Logos is publishing for free Perseus collection. This is a fair amount of data. For those of us with slower PCs, will the added resources be a drain on computer resources? I suppose we could isolate them into a collection not searched in our typical study guide.... http://www.logos.com/products/search
