Now it looks like I will have to repurchase all of these resources again
No -- you never have to repurchase a book. Your existing licenses continue to work. We'll have instructions on downloading just the engine available in the future, or you can go with http://www.logos.com/minimalcrossgrade , which is our recommended
"You do not have permission to open that book".
Most likely, you started playing with it while we were editing the permissions database. We're now respecting the licenses we do/don't have, and I'm pretty sure we don't have permission to offer WBC through the iPhone yet. We're working to secure rights to everything
Bob, how are you suppose to use the iPhone synchronization with 4.0? Is there an option on the desktop version?
Once you've purchased Logos 4, your licenses will automatically work with the iPhone version.
but still want to have access to the program today :-)
You have to choose download or DVD. We highly recommend DOWNLOAD as the right solution. You get it right away, you get the latest code (it's already newer than what's on the DVD!), and you don't have to mess with serial numbers, etc. Even with the big download
The screen that pop-up indicated that it would cost me $2,325.04 to upgrade to Logos 4.
That's just the price for a recommended update to a large collection of new resources. You can choose from a variety of options, including just getting the engine for free. We don't recommend that, because it doesn't have even
Does anyone have an idea if this is expected or normal?
Yes, this is normal. The first time you index it does take a while -- there's no way around it, it's doing a huge amount of work. But subsequent indexing will be through a smaller supplemental index, or in the background. And once indexing is done you'll get great

It should detect and download updates automatically; you can also go to: http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstaller/Logos4Mac.dmg

There's already an update to the Mac alpha that fixes some indexing issues. We'll have frequent updates as we continue to improve the product. (As you can see from the language about missing views, the underlying system is there -- we'll building the Mac-specific user interface.) The latest Mac release lives here: http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstaller
At this point, I'm wondering should I uninstall it and force it to install into the program files folder?
No. :-) Like Google Chrome and other applications that automatically update over the Internet, we install into a user directory. This means you don't need to elevate permissions in order to install updates, and segregates

Not every book is licensed for mobile delivery yet. We're still working on securing permission from publishers, and I don't think we've tested Chinese support yet. I do know we plan to address Chinese in a future release.
I wonder if those who have access to almost their entire library in the iPhone would be either users of Logos 4, or have been Beta testers of Logos 4?
Synchronization is a feature of Logos 4; if you haven't yet upgraded to Logos 4 you'll only get a small selection of books on the iPhone. Logos 4 enables many more of

I'd first try logging out and then back into Logos.com, to make sure it's recognizing your current password. Then you should be able to enter that on the first page if the iPhone app. What's it reporting -- that the password is wrong? You can call me directly at 800-875-6467 if that doesn't work and I'll try to help you.

We're working on getting a version of this that's easier to manipulate; sorry it's not ready yet. (The art was implemented with styles on the tables instead of text in the cells.)

While the engine will work with your existing books, we strongly encourage you to consider a base package, which will include lots of content especially designed to work well with Logos 4. The people, places, and things databases, the controlled vocabulary, infographics, maps, etc. are all content resources sold as part of the base package. You can

Are you using your www.logos.com login? That's what you need (not your Libronix Customer ID, which may also have been an email address).
I downloaded and installed the Alpha, successfully logged in, and then it says "waiting for the indexer" and shuts down...
We discovered a last minute incompatibility with a resource; a new drop of the Mac alpha will be available later today.

Logos 4 doesn't read old LLS files, but we've got newly built versions of almost all of them. (If you find one we missed, let us know.) (We DO read the old LSF/LIX books, though we have built newer editions for almost all of them.) You can install Logos 4 on a clean machine, and it will sync your licenses. Any books it doesn't find on its own DVD it
just feels like Mac users are treated like the red headed step child...
Sorry about that -- it's definitely not our intention. But Windows still represents ~90% of our market. As I point out on the web page, we realize the Mac is a key part of our future, and we've been working (and hiring!) to catch up there

PBB books were built with HTML and Internet Explorer in the past. We've removed the dependency on IE, but it means there'll be some delay until we have support for a new (native) PBB format. Sorry for the delay -- we're working on it!
Bob P. probably didn't sleep much.
Make that "yet".... nor a dozen other Logos employees, still working hard to launch the new web site, etc....
