• Re: When 1 is bigger than 1.

It reflects the density of that term in the book; the length of the book is factored into the scale. The logic is that "word" appearing 100 times in Acts isn't as "interesting" asthe same "word" appearing 25 times in 2 John, where it represents a larger proportion of the text. Think of it as graphing frequency per 1,000 words.

We really, really want gift vouchers, too. And customer service credits, and various other things. These things bring up some complicated ecommerce engine and accounting issues, though, which we're still working through It's all absolutely "on the list" -- and I want it more than anyone! -- but it'll probably be early next year before it's implemented

Thanks... and plese feel free to create your own reading lists. (You might want to copy the Wiki source of the Magnificat entry as a starting point, to help get the metadata right.)

  • Re: Bookmarks

The idea is that Favorites work like a web browser, and support a long list of links organized into folders. Bookmarks are designed to be "stick my finger in the page" type temporary items. There are 9 because settng and jumping to them is mapped to 9 keyboard shortcuts -- Ctrl+1 to jump to Bookmark 1, and Ctrl+Shift+1 to set it.

The Kindle does read mobi format books without DRM, though Amazon's own book sales are in DRM. I've got a Kindle (had the old, have the new) and I really like it. The Sony Reader was nice, too, but I like the wireless book delivery on the Kindle. -- Bob

You're welcome to add these links -- we appreciate the help! -- but it might be easier for us to batch merge (and then review) the headings from these other online encyclopedias. The pages you've added have useful info, and some obvious hand-editing, whcih would save us some time, but it seems like a time consuming and very manual way to "batch add

  • Re: Why transfer fees?

I spoke ahead of things; I didn't realize we had technical issues that made transfering downloadable resources more difficult, and that we were prohibiting it for that reason. Since I went ahead and said it was okay, the team has been trying to clear all the issues and make it work; the transition is still underway. Sorry for the confusion! -- Bob

  • Re: Topics.Logos.com -- your help needed!

Key Passages should be a half-dozen or fewer passages. We have lots of ways to get to longer lists on a subject, and many sources for those lists. The thinking (right now) is that Key Passages is reserved almost for navigation -- someone types in "Magnificat", it makes sense to return Luke 1:46-55. That's an immediate, simple "answer" to the search

  • Topics.Logos.com -- your help needed!

We're working on a new dataset for use in a future version of Logos Bible Software. We have a master list of Bible-related topics (people, places, things, theological concepts, etc.) at http://topics.logos.com . We would like your help collecting three kinds of information for these topics: Alternate Labels -- other terms you might search for (or which

It'll be in the next "major" release, so if you don't find out about this update, something will have gone terribly wrong. :-)

  • Re: Typo's
I've found 31 typos in the Cambridge Paragraph Bible (AV 1873). They all involve the spelling of the word 'more'. 30 times it's misspelled as 'moe' and 1 time as 'mo'... very irritating. I've reported these several times since 2006 but so far they've not been corrected.
We went to great lengths to get the Cambridge

  • Re: Libronix Bible Speed search is embarrassingly slow

Here's the comment I posted on that video: Ouch! We're going to have to work on that. Every product is a pile of compromises. Some products are almost entirely about searching, and assume that a text search of a single resource is the primary way people will interact with the material. So they're optimized for that. Logos product is designed with the

  • Re: Logos Focus

Our primary aim is publishing material that helps people study the Bible. This tends to be "Christian" content, but includes some Jewish material as well as purely secular resources -- like the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. (Because it's useful to people studying the Bible.) Within our organization there are many Christian viewpoints (and probably some
Bob could you kindly explain what the quote above from you means? Does this mean the end of Cds/Dvd and the download option currently available?
We'll over DVD's for as long as there is a market for them, but even the DVD software will have the ability to "log in" to our servers to connect to more data and other features

Arrgghhh! I hate this topic. :-) We have lots of heated discussions about this internally. Every other week we get the desperate-to-be-legal-and-ethical user who calls to confirm that they can install the software on their desktop and notebook computer. The other weeks we hear about the every-loophole-finding user who wants to parse our latest statement

Bible Study Magazine is not aimed at existing Logos users, though we welcome you all as readers. The goal is to get more people interested in and thinking about Bible study. We do want to have a balance between "light and fluffy" (and thus easily-approachable) articles and more technical discussions. Didn't you see the introduction to Hebrew text criticism
