Craig, One of the first things I did when Logos 8 was finally ready was to open precisely that workflow. At a first glance, it looks nothing like what I do (which is imperfect, naturally). The output of an expository sermon, which is a verse by verse exposition, is nothing like my output. The workflow is very, very long..... I don't know how I would
-
MJ, Would you care to share here? Just to add to what you said about the context / flow of homilies... It may be a homily based primarily on one text... It may be a homily that draws together the OT and Gospel reading and preaches on fulfilment.... We are not bound to give a homily on the scriptural text... we may preach on another text of the Mass
-
Thanks for the response Devin. That all makes sense. Though, I do wonder if there is a way in which a workflow could be developed for preaching on just one of the texts (which is probably what I do most of the time anyway).
-
Devin, Have you been playing around with workflows and do you have one for homily preparation that you are willing to share? Damian

Craig, Is there anything in logos/verbum with a thought for the day or a quote? Some of my books such as Saint of the Day ( https://www.amazon.com/Saint-Day-Definitive-Guide-Saints/dp/1632532492 ), 365 Days with the Saints: A Year of Wisdom from the Saints ( https://www.amazon.com/365-Days-Saints-Year-Wisdom/dp/1577151194 ) and 365 Saints: Your Daily
-
I should say that you get a brief bio but not much in the way of thought for the day or quotes. Nothing as good for that as franciscan media's Saint of the Day: https://www.franciscanmedia.org/sod-calendar/

There are a couple. Saints and Feasts of the Liturgical Year: https://www.logos.com/product/16557/saints-and-feasts-of-the-liturgical-year-rev-ed Pictorial Lives of the Saints: https://www.logos.com/product/26956/pictorial-lives-of-the-saints Butler's Lives of the Saints: https://www.logos.com/product/5204/lives-of-the-saints

Yes, it may well be difficult re licensing. I note that origins makes there back catalogue available online so they must at least have permissions for that. I am loathe to suggest this, but I would be very happy to pay for a subscription that gave me current versions as well as the back catalogue. I also remember reading this assiduously in Seminary
-
Thanks Craig. No there was nothing specific in mind other than the Pastoral Directory (and the Congregation for Bishops Instruction on Diocesan Synods). I just like to have everything. But, I am always referring to documents not yet translated into English and you probably have no market for this but i would appreciate them in whatever modern languages

http://www.paulistpress.com/Products/CategoryCenter/VAT2!RDV2/rediscovering-vatican-ii-series.aspx I would like this series in Logos/verbum. Trying to cite from Kindle is excruciating.

http://www.catholicnews.com/origins/index.cfm Blurb: "Origins publishes texts from the Vatican, pope, bishops, Congress, Senate, Supreme Court and church leaders around the world. So much appears in Origins - some 225 texts yearly: texts in the news; noteworthy texts on the church's mission. You'll definitely appreciate Origins' depth and scope." I

I was surprised to to find the above named document in my collection. It appears that there are a number of documents from some Congregations that have not made it yet to faithlife. Could you please scour the vatican website and see what can be offered. Many of us also read other modern languages. I would be very happy to have some of these documents

is there still a discount? It does not appear to show one in my cart.
-
The page is out of date again, with discounts valid through 1 December.
-
I agree. I have had to wait ages sometimes while it attempts to populate.
-
The page is out of date again: "Logos discounts valid through October 15."

Thanks Sean.
The 4, 5, 6, 7 have to do with software/engine- not libraries.
This is simply not correct. In previous versions, the boast was always that the engine was free. We paid for resource bundles and some tools. In version 7, we explicitly pay for a library and/or tools. The engine remains free and will be released
