Glad it got you thinking... regarding search time, if you enlarge my screenshot BW is .02sec and L4 is .35sec. Percentage wise it may be significant, but not from a practical standpoint. Note it was not the first search I ran in L4.. subsequent searches are faster. I am running L4 beta on a Macbook Pro using Parallels 5. L4 is really flexible, but I

I would recommend you open a basic search and then search a topical resource or collection for "kingdom of God" or even "kingdom of God" AND "old testament" There are some articles in Every Teaching of Jesus in the Bible. Often times topical references can get us into the biblical text and then we can perform cross references to other scripture from

I wonder why we decide to install a beta on a friday night Gluttons for punishment or too excited to see what lies ahead?

Thanks for the advise and encouragement. This is the first beta I have not participated in going back to Logos 2. The pain inflicted is a bit greater with the downloads and reindexing. I appreciate the pain you have endured to get us this far. I assume that when the beta becomes live we can update and get off this train at anytime without reinstalling

thanks for the clarification. Also, I see reference where everyone is logging into a "beta account". Did I mess up installing this on my own Logos account? If so, what do you advise?

I have 4.0a beta 1 but have seen some that are referring to 4.0b. Is there an update? Also, as I did not participate in the L4 beta, how will this effect the syncing on my desktop and regular updates that are made available in the base program? Thanks.

I opened it from the toolbar: tools/passage analysis, then selected compare pericope.
-
I have 4.0a, I guess there is an update.. I crashed L4 on the initial opening of the cluster graph, but have not had problems since with any of the passage analysis features.

Hi Jim, You can make the two programs look alike, but there are features in each of them that are different. L4 does so much more with library resources than BW8. BW8 can create and compare word lists, verse lists has graphical queries etc. So it is not really just creating a layout as much as it is the fact that the two programs hae a different focus

I like the improvements to the topics and interesting words in the PG although it looks cool, finding words is a bit more difficult. The cited by window is a good idea and being able to select which collections are included is wonderful. I like how quickly it populated and then moved to the search window for larger hits. I found this loading much faster

Is there anyplace that explains the changes and updates from 4.0? I would like to know what the changes are before installing. Specifically, will this require a reindex of the the library?

Thanks for the comment, I will get the volume up on the upcoming videos.

I started there, but the video was too long. I have abbreviated it just to see how it works and it is now online for those that want to view it at the same link above. This stuff is new to me, so there will be a few false starts. Hopefully i can drop a few more on youtube this weekend. Comments and suggestions welcome.

It looks like I have used up all the free bandwidth provided with Jing for the month. I will need to take these videos offline until I find another solution. Please accept my apology.

I normally would not reply to a post like this, however, my father was a Catholic and studied the Bible in depth daily. He passed a couple of years ago. Condescending remarks such as this are inappropriate. I suggest you edit your post or people may think that even though you read your Bible you fail to understand what it says.

Ken, I think it just depends on the width of the window and how many icons are in the pane. I did not force anything, just the way L4 does it. Also I did not use full screen due to the screen recording and resolution.

There are some things that BW 8 does that Logos 4 does not do: Vocabulary lists, Word list comparison, MT/LXX searches, graphical searching... I will continue to use BW 8 for what it is designed to do better than Logos 4. I still feel they are complimentary programs rather than competing programs for original language studies.

Parts 2 and 3 are up... still quite the amateur, but perhaps you may get one or two ideas from them. Comments and suggestions welcome.

I removed the old video due to problems and have put on part 1 of the new video. I will need a day or two to finish the series and get to the actual workflow. Thanks everyone for your patience.
