  • Re: What benefits will the free engine of logos 5 be?

I'm so happy so see in version 5 a feature I had suggested to Logos a couple of years ago: examples of search syntax within the search function. This is now baked into the engine of version 5. Brilliant.

  • Re: Indexer stops working...every time

This may not be your problem, but awhile back I was having annoying and persistent indexing woes with both Logos 4 and Lightroom (another database heavy application). When I ran a diagnostic check on my hard drive (using a built-in utility from Dell on my laptop), the results showed that my hard drive was beginning to fail. When I reported the hard

  • Re: multiple license for spouses

Imagine the parallel with a printed book library. "Honey, this copy of of the Word Biblical Commentary series is mine, yours is over there on that shelf. Oh, these reference works are mine; duplicate editions are over there on your desk." Unthinkable. I concur that as layouts and notes and the like are moved to the Cloud, separate user accounts ought

  • Re: Minimum crossgrade makes other packages less attractive

I agree with the original post's title/assertion, yet come from a different perspective: I was contemplating upgrading from L4 Scholar's to L5 Bronze ($237 for me), but the L5 Bronze upgrade only includes just over half of the new datasets, and not "Clause Search." For me, the minimum crossgrade runs $150, and includes ALL the datasets. The reality

  • Re: Expositor's Bible Commentary -- Original vs. Revised

Bought Expositor's when it was a stand-alone Windows product. Then I "upgraded" ($) to the Logos version for about the same price. Will pass on paying again (seems like if it has 60% more content, the upgrade price should be 60% of the pre-pub price.. but that's just me). It is a quality resource, but I'll remain happy with my old-school version.

  • Re: Indexer Failure after 4.5 SR-2 Install

I ended up resolving my issue by replacing my internal HD. Diagnostics (and sharing my error codes with Dell) revealed that my drive had already "failed." Installed a new HD and now I'm back to indexing smoothly. Scott

Here's another one. I have had repeated problems indexing on the fly, though I have had success in the recent past if I have manually asked the indexer to index everything from scratch from within L4. Attached are my error logs: 4212.Logos Log Thanks for any help you guys can provide! Blessings on this Good Friday 2012, Scott

Well, this finally pushed me over the edge to get a twitter account. Not sure if this will make much difference, as I usually check the Logos blog every day or two. (By the way, looking forward to using 4.3, by the way, which just released to us non-beta folks today!)

  • Re: Announcing Evangelical Exegetical Commentary Payment Plans

Agreed. Pulling the trigger on an untested commentary series, paying years in advance... I'll vote with my wallet and buy things I know are excellent resources (there are plenty of existing commentaries I'd love to have, and I can buy them piecemeal). Kind of like cell phone and cable packages: it gives the power to the provider, not the consumer: you

  • Minor 4.0c Bible Reading Plan bug

After updating to 4.0c from 4.0b, I notice that my Bible reading plan says "stop" right in the middle of the final verse, whereas in the past it would say "stop" at the end of the final verse. In the example below, tomorrow's reading starts on Psalm 99 (it's just not displayed on my screen shot). Not a big deal, but it's something that was working well

  • Re: Bible Study Magazine

I would have subscribed to BSM gladly had it included a license for the Logos digital copies once they were made available (since they indicated they were going to make them available electronically at a later date). I didn't want to end up paying for them twice. Besides this, there was the complication of living in Central Asia and getting the magazines

  • Re: One final push for George Muller

I tend to think that many, many Logos users would be thrilled to purchase this set for $18, or $15 (here's hoping)... I wonder why Logos prefers not to use their Logos Newswire / email announcements to advertise these... guess because at this point they are just trying to cover costs? In any case, I've been in on this package ever since I learned about

  • Re: Free Finnish Bible OR maybe a RUSSIAN synodal

Yes, the Russian Synodal Bible has been offered free of charge by Logos for some time now. Greatly appreciated. (I do see in the SESB collection ( that a "Russian Modern New Testament" is included, but so far this isn't offered independently.)

I only recently "figured out" Community Pricing and heartily jumped in on this deal. I think I may become hooked on this Community Pricing scheme. Seems like a good win-win concept for all.

  • BUG - Homepage Customization Options reset (not saved) after running off-line

I've duplicated this on my system. Seems like an easy fix, if it is indeed a bug. While running L4 (with an internet connection) , if I I deselect such options as "Logos Blog" or "Logos News" or "My Logos Messages" on the Customize Home Page menu, the changes are immediate and will remain active if the next time I run L4 I am online at the time. So

[quote user="Todd Phillips"] [quote user="Scott K"] I, too, right when I installed version 4, only had the pre-1995 revision of the NASB. It worked fine within Logos 4 , but it was clear to me -- due to it not being tagged as a Bible and that it lacked any cover image -- that Logos didn't expect many people to be using it. I had to manually change it
