  • Re: Surprising development

I read a lot of threads on these forums and have since the start of the forums. I also followed the newsgroups for years before the forums were started. Yet I rarely post unless it has to do with perceived technical issues with the software or use of the software and the resources. Because that is the purpose of the forums. I most definitely DO NOT

  • Re: Syriac: Payne Smith Compendious Syriac Dictionary

Open Payne-Smith. In the upper left corner of the resource and in the lower right corner of the image of the book is a small down arrow. Clicking on it will open an options panel for the resource. Select "Send Hyperlinks Here." That should accomplish what you want. However, the setting does not appear to be persistent unless you save the resource as

  • Re: Enable the Verbum switch

I'm not sure that the "enable verbum switch" needs to be provided (but I may be wrong) as much as a way to enable the extended or larger canon needs to be provided through a means other than purchasing a Verbum collection. There are more Christians than just the Catholics who use the extended canon and the Verbum collections really are oriented towards

  • Re: Leiden Peshitta Problem

I'll make a quick reply, but as we are getting off the purpose of these forums, feel free to email me if you wish to continue the conversation. Old Testament Syriac, very little chance having it in any format in the foresee-able future. But other Syriac texts, probably. I do want to finish the Odes and perhaps some other texts..

  • Re: Leiden Peshitta Problem

As Vincent said, both are used. Lexicons often (but not always) will use an Estrangelo font for headwords at the top of the page and a Serto font within the page. As to resources which use a single font... It is all over the map. Some use Estrangelo, some use Serto, and some use Eastern Syriac scripts. Some also use a transliteration scheme which REALLY

  • Re: Leiden Peshitta Problem

If you could produce screenshots of all three that would help us figure out what you are seeing. As Vincent said, and he should know, L5 uses versions of .NET that render Syriac correctly. At least I haven't seen problems yet. As a matter of fact, I got confirmation of that before I even upgraded.

  • Re: Morph searching in Syriac - can anyone help?

[quote user="James W Bennett"]I have a great many frustrations with the "poor cousin" way that Syriac is treated within Logos. Some of these frustrations have been reported, many have not. This thread is touching upon some of those that I have not yet complained about. My reason for not yet reporting these is that I believe it is much more important

  • Re: Searching for all the forms derived from a Hebrew root

Since this feature is marked as Started in UserVoice and we are now on a new Major Version, I can hope that Vincent might let slip some of the Logos plan for the extent to which resources would be tagged for roots :) [quote user="James W Bennett"] Does that would then mean that the Leiden Peshitta and any other Aramaic/Syriac primary sources will not

  • Font selection in tools

I understand that the font selection in Program Settings is for fonts in resources. Specifically the Syriac font setting is for Syriac resources (but also effects Syriac text in other resources). My concern is with font selection in the tools. It seems that some tools such as Clippings and Notes allow the selection of a font. Others such as the Exegetical

And because it uses .NET 4.5 & WPF4 Syriac fonts display properly in L5. Thanks you Logos team for addressing this problem.

I see that L5 requires .NET 4.5. Does that mean that display of Syriac is fixed in L5? Can someone verify that for me?
