Maybe not quite related but is "catholic" in the Catholic lexionary referring to "Roman Catholic" or "Catholic" as in "the church" ?
Both - it is the lectionary of the Roman rite of the Catholic Church - the most common but not the only Western rite. There are also a slew of Eastern rite Catholic Churches with their

I'd intended to start a similar thread this morning. The simple reader's view in a floating window is my favorite.

Right you are ... now I wonder why it picked up footnote b and not footnote a ... yes, I hovered over the first "the" to check.

  • Notes file design

The more I use the notes file the less I like it - the two things that I miss in functionality: 1) the ability to have titles 2) the ability to expand and contract - the list of titles being the primary view Think in terms of collecting pieces for generating Bible studies: My usual work arena is: one file of questions - titles indicate the span of the

  • Notes problem

I still can't get a note to attach to a reference rather than a selection. To paraphrase Bill Gate "I'm an XP".

  • Problem in information pane

The highlighting in the Scripture pane is the result of one existing notes and the start of creating a second overlapping note in another note file. Version is NRSV. Note b is correct ... a doesn't show ... but why does the Lord's Supper show up? I meaning I'll accept that the old points to the new but this is carrying theological generalization a bit
7 Covanants? Huh? This Lutheran doesn't really understand.
Adam Noah Abraham Moses David [Jeremiah: renewal] Jesus: New Covenant Looks like 7 to me. How many does a Lutheran count? I'm also not fond of a chronological Bible - I do, however, like an overview timeline with an arrow "you are HERE". And just for amusement

I can't find the thread again to correct a response - yes, my sermons file was converted ... I just didn't find it until I did a search that I knew would find it.

  • Re: Custom lectionaries ok?

Thanks for your input Damian. I think that Logos may have headed the correct direction by treating lectionaries as a book. That means that one can find the entries through a search ... this allows for finding entries that apply in specific locales or for particular order without making the calendar try to handle them. I think this is an excellent choice

I'll admit that all I know about John MacArthur is that I've seen him mentioned here and seen his name related to Bible study on the web. I've gone back and forth on leaving the blog on the home page ... but I really don't mind if his face shows up. If his face provides revenue to support the Logos product, you can fill the home page with his image
as the lectionary defies any algorithm, I can figure out with a normal liturgical calendar, saint feasts which override, and variations of days like Ash Wednesday, Easter, Triduum, etc.
I strongly believe that the lectionary data should be accessible by liturgical day name AND that the software should not attempt to
I don't think Logos should try to have a full notes and outlining feature.
To me, that depends upon what you mean by full notes. To me, the minimum functionality - which isn't all working - is: 1) ability to attach note to selection or reference (supposedly there but ...) 2) ability to copy and paste formatted information

  • Time frame on Passage Guide

In the passage guide, I would like to see some preset timelines with a marker as to where the passage fits: 1) a simple indication of under which of the seven covenants 2) an indication based on patriarch, judge, prophet, king i.e. major people 3) against a Bible timeline ... with notation as to where the dates become reliable historically 4) against
