  • Re: Is Logos expensive?

A car mechanic buys quality tools - they are essential to his job. Shouldn't a Christian professional (and others who are serious at the task) do the same? And yes they can be more expensive than really cheap ones (however learning to get the deals / manage the Logos sales make them less so). But they also stand the test of time. They are the right

  • Re: highlighting

Another option (if you are only using a few highlighters) is to purchase a programmable multi button mouse (pretty cheap). Assign one or more of the extra buttons to a hotkey. Thus, select and push the button. I use this all the time.

  • Re: Emerging Church

Part of the problem is that the label 'Emergent Church' can be applied to a large range of churches / people / movements. Like most labels, they don't define a precise group of people, but more of a movement of a range of people. Some are very 'loose' with their theology and some would be conservative in theology but 'radical' in their ministry approaches

Let's see. What to pick? What to pick? I can get journals without extensive tags. Or .... I don't get journals at all. I know! Let's get journals without extensive tags. No brainer.

  • Re: Isaiah 9:6, NET Bible note

I was not supporting the NET claim, just looking for where the reference came from. I had never heard that comment before and was curious and surprised at the NET comments. Most every good commentary handles the passage well (although few include the Rashi viewpoint). The excerpt Robert gave provides a succinct overview of the popular meanings. The

For what its worth: For a child has been born to us, a son given to us, and the authority is upon his shoulder, and the wondrous adviser, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, called his name, "the prince of peace." • Re: Isaiah 9:6, NET Bible note

Not sure about Christian debate, but there appears to be Jewish debate about the passage. If you look around at Google you will see references to such. I did not pursue the topic to find the sources though. Don't know if a Jewish commentary or traditional Jewish resources would shed any light as I have none. I am assuming the Net is referring to traditional

  • Re: users experiences with 2in1 laptops running Logos

Note: The advantage to a 2 in 1 PC is that you have everything (files, other programs, etc.) and full capability of all the software. Worst case you can just use it as a traditional PC instead of a tablet. This I love most of all.

I have an HP Spectre 13" 2 in 1 with a 512 SSD. It is blazing fast. I have found that I don't use it as much as I thought as a tablet - just too big/heavy in many situations. However, while LOGOS needs to better implement touch technology, I still like it when I have the space for reading. Without the stylus, I'm not sure that I would feel the same

Looks to be from independent Baptist circles based on the recommendations and his own educational history. Think Baptist Bible College, Hyles Anderson College (from years back). The movement has had some great preaching and very aggressive (in a good way) ministry focus so might be useful for the preacher. The movement was typically less deeply expositional

  • Re: How many reference books consult to write 1 sermon

Sermon process: 1. I spend time with the text itself. Reading it / segmenting it into its various parts / outlining it (in my head even if not written down). Essentially establishing 'what is it saying' 'how is it saying it'. Use: original language reference books. Original language analysis from handbooks. Focus on the text itself and what it is saying
