• Re: Reading whole books on screen - do you?

I have started to read L4 books, but only on the iPad. It's much easier to sit in a chair and read like I do with paper books. It annoys me that I cannot take notes or highlight when I read on the iPad, hopefully that will come soon. I just don't like sitting in front of the computer screen and reading, that has never been enjoyable to me, so the only

I think what you are asking is why we have the avatars we have . Mine is because I think it is kind of funny, and I don't really have any pictures of me that I really like. I have some family pictures that are great, but the 6 of us hardly fit into the little box.

  • Re: Computer Comparison (Your thoughts please...)

I think you made the right choice. I basically have both of what you were looking at, the older processor at home, the I5 (in my case) at work. The I5, with 1/2 the memory (4 vs 8gb) is way faster running L4. Truthfully, even the older one runs it well, the the I5 is just awesome. My only suggestion would of been to consider making it yourself, but

If not how could I manage to read books that I have mostly use?
Not all books are available on the Ipad yet. Also there are no layouts - just each book full screen. You have faster

  • Re: Logos on iPad is almost a book reader, but not exactly a Bible Study App
This is my conclusion after buying an iPad for Logos.
Hopefully as more L4 features become available to you on your ipad, you will find it more valuable as a bible study app. If you absolutely hate it - I bet you could "unload" (sell) it for not to horrible of a loss - I'd buy a discounted used Ipad.

Not sure I understand your questions, but... Yes it uses wireless internet - you can get the 3G version, but it is more expensive, it basically uses cell phone technology. For me, the wireless internet version is just fine. You can change the text on L4 to very large for reading, if that is what you are asking. Of course the bigger the text, the less

There is a good chance the slate will not even be produced - see http://community.logos.com/forums/t/16490.aspx But more to the point, the Ipad is great, I use it all the time. It is not a notebook replacer - yet - although when the apps to exchange / sync files become more usable, and L4 gets more features for it, it might be. As for L4 on the Ipad

  • Re: Occupational Survey

Dave, When I left full time youth ministry, I said - no more paid ministry for me -never. Then I got asked to fill the pulpit and our little church out in the country, then again, then again...... So God eased me back in, and it is a much better experience for me now. Part time or volunteer is much better for my soul. I hope you have the same experience

I was in full time ministry for almost 20 years, but I am much more suited for part-time ministry. I have a very hard time dealing with sheep that think they own the shepherd because they help pay his salary

  • No more Ipad vs Slate questions

HP's rival to the iPad, the Slate, has been cancelled. The device was already far along in development. HP says Windows 7 wasn't working as expected. HP plans to focus on the cell phone market instead. http://www.informationweek.com/shared/printableArticle.jhtml;jsessionid=BMNXDE51DF3U1QE1GHRSKHWATMY32JVN?articleID=224700347
For anyone thinking of upgrading their graphics card, beware! I did it a few months ago, and found that a modern gaming graphics card requires a significant amount of power (more than my own PSU could supply), so I had to upgrade the PSU as well. Having said that, it was definitely worth it - scrolling/re-drawing speed was

5.9 on the office computer - that score being the hard drive. Just to compare to last nights results, changing between layouts still takes about 10-12 seconds. Search from homepage of Hebrews 1:1-14 takes about 8 seconds (since I have the same library on both computers, and the same programs run in the background, this is probably the best way to compare

W7 - 4.9, which is graphics score. Runs and searches great, lag time is greatest for switching layouts (8-12 seconds or so). Just did a search of Hebrews 1:1-14 from the home page, it took about 12 seconds to finish and put it on the screen. Very little lag time for most everything else. That is the one I am in front of now.

  • Re: Another Windows Experience Rating Question

And possibly upgrade your video card (unless you have a laptop). Then you would have a 5.4. Then a new faster hard drive, and you are up to 6.1. Did I mention this all might cost 400 or 500? Maybe go with Kevin's idea first.

I found the new updated Ipad2 in a bar the other night and sold it to gizmotron for 5000.00 It has 4 cameras, optional cruise control, and it's totally titanium leather. I hear it's going to be out in December. Steve jobs is really mad.

  • Re: Improved Notes?

I'm still holding off committing to L4 notes. They have stated that they do not want to be in the word processor business (I know, notes are not word processors, but I think the idea is that they are only taking notes so far), and other than being searchable within logos, they are just way behind either onenote or evernote (who are in the note business
