• Re: L.5/Mac Community Notes

Crashes for me as well. Everytime. Any timeline for a fix? :( Most of the time I get a system prompt (Mac OS X 10.8.2) with the following request: "Developer Tools Access needs to take control of another process for debugging to continue. Type your password to allow this." Since I don't know what this is for I don't allow it.

LOL! That was it. I haven't a clue how that happened. Thanks Todd! :)

I just realized that the title of this post "Thoughts on proper Cursor Display for Beta" could sound pompous. That was not the intent. It was more asking the question "what is proper" than stating "these are"... :)

Sure here's the active screen I have.

Your right, the hand pointer is not typically used. However, their are some applications that offer a hover interaction for main UI elements. For example Mail (though not the best execution) has a hover for all the main UI elements in the top level navigation. The Adobe Creative Suite also has a hover state for many of their tabbed UI elements. They

  • Thoughts on proper Cursor Display for Beta

So I've noticed that outside of links the cursor does not respond properly in Logos 4 Mac just yet. For example you don't see the hand pointer icon when the cursor is over a tab or selection resource other than a link as far as I can tell. Also, when selecting text you don't receive the standard text select cursor. Any thoughts from the dev team on

I've been missing the Detail View within the Library window for several betas now... Any idea on how to restore it? Thanks!

I would look for A26 next Monday. Alpha builds are generally released every two weeks. Blessings.

  • Re: Interlinear Button Cut Off
You need to resize your Bible Window. That happens when you have a bunch of tabs open. If you ran a passage guide and other resources just resize that window, and it will give your Bible window more room and the button should be shown.
I hope the final version resizes UI elements more gracefully. It would be a
The panels on that side are in what's called the sidebar (it's not visually very distinct yet, but if you look closely, you'll see that there's a larger gap between those panels and the rest of the window). Sidebar panels can be resized vertically but have a fixed width; in a later alpha, they'll also have a streamlined

  • Re: Layout Adjusting

If you grab the tab and reset (drag and drop) it into another space (this can actually be the space it currently resides in) it will allow you to adjust its width. For some reason certain tools open by default in a certain region and at a fixed width while others do not. The "Information" tab is one example of this. It's an odd workaround I know but

I would agree but with one exception. I don't think it's an either or but rather an argument for both for me. I think both are required to accomplish the ideal user experience.

I posted a few screenshots and comments a few months back that are related to this discussion. See this thread: The conversation begins here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/5448.aspx The UI starts to take shape here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/5448.aspx?PageIndex=3 It's not a perfect design, but it's something to help the conversation

  • Re: Alpha 20 Teasers

I would argue a middle ground approach. Maintain the standard mac behavior for toolbar customization. But you don't need to include every element within the sheet itself. I would only maintain the standard UI elements and an element that can contain the shortcuts, while not containing every available shortcut. So then the end user could still interact
Shortcuts will be available in Alpha 20. You can drag a resource or tab onto the empty toolbar area to create shortcuts.
This is a welcome addition (thank you), but is this the final design for this portion of the software? This header just does not seem to fit with the apple UI aesthetic.

  • Re: left-click functionality

Part of the reason that text selection may feel slower than it may actually be is that you get no text cursor when hovering over copy. Also, the selection is not updated as you drag your mouse over the text. Adding these two interactions could resolve much of the concerns with selection. Again compare with Apple's Pages application.

  • Re: left-click functionality

The normal functionality for this action would be to select the text that your cursor is resting on. I hope that this will be in the final version. Text selection is in general sort of slow and clumsy currently. I'd love to see large improvements as the alpha progresses into beta in this area. Currently, text selection just does not feel like a native

Wow, this would be a fun project to work on! (I'm a UI designer & front end developer [HTML/CSS] by trade). I'm sure the Logos web team is excited about it. It's going to be a real game changer. Let me know if you need any extra hands I'd love to help make this a reality. :) Amazing.
