  • Re: Liturgy of the Hours/Breviary for Verbum??

Thanks for the suggestion. I do have iBreviary as well as Universalis. In the interim they're OK. But I'd like a one stop shop with the slick Verbum dashboard and the ability to have my daily Office lead me into other pieces of my accumulating Verbum library. It'd be just so much more useful that way. I really think Faithlife is missing the boat here

  • Re: Liturgy of the Hours/Breviary for Verbum??

Since this thread has been dormant for over 6 months I thought I'd resurrect it (pardon the pun). Just curious if Verbum has anything coming that would simplify the praying of the LOTH? Really the book has been all but worthless for me as it's actually easier to use my physical volumes with the ribbons and the little printed guide. Not that it's easier

Kevin, Thanks - now this makes a bit more sense. Have you heard anything about when the New Testament volume will be published? I'd really be interested in that. Although if it hasn't even been published in physical form yet, it's hard to imagine if it will even make it to Verbum within the current decade.

  • Catholic Introduction To the Bible Old Testament

I just received notice this was available. I'd apparently pre ordered it so long ago I'd lost track of it and forgotten all about it. https://verbum.com/product/205641/a-catholic-introduction-to-the-bible-the-old-testament But I thought it was just a single volume. Why is this suddenly showing up as "Volume 1"???

I agree SO MUCH with this post. EXACTLY what the folks at FL need to read and understand. And something I'm betting 99% of the people at FL who worked on this particular acquisition did NOT understand.

WHAT HE SAID!!!!!!! EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID!!!!!! Faithlife has a TOTAL FAIL on this one. I was so encouraged when this was announced - that Verbum was going to be a TRULY Catholic Rite ready resource. This makes it embarrassingly apparent it's a Protestant resource trying to cross market to Catholics.

I disagree. I think if they can't get it to work reliably it's better to just remove it. Not spending the effort to make it a true home page item that would "pull together" a complete day by hour (office of readings, noon etc etc) really demonstrates a lack of understanding by those who ultimately are running logos but are not Catholic of just what

  • Re: Liturgy of the Hours/Breviary for Verbum??

This one was expensive, even buying as a PrePub like I did. I wish there was some sort of functional dashboard guide for this. I'm happy to have it digitally, but honestly as it appears to me now, I'll NEVER use it. iBreviary is FAR easier and FREE. Honestly, the four volume set is FAR easier thanks to the ribbons, than what this presents. I couldn

AMEN! I couldn't agree more. The 4 physical volumes with their assorted colored ribbons would be WAY more convenient than the Verbum version if they don't create something for the home page that essentially walks you through a given day's various hours. Just dumping the 4 volumes into Verbum would be LESS useful than the 4 physical volumes in terms

  • Re: Liturgy of the Hours/Breviary for Verbum??

Has anyone heard anything more about whether they'll create something like a dashboard/home screen card for it? I can pray it with the 4 volume physical set, but that wasn't an easy thing to get the knack of. I started with the brothers on EWTN via shortwave in the mornings like 25 years ago. I got lost so many times at first and couldn't keep up that

  • Shared Family Resources

A few years ago I spoke with a Logos manager in the Phoenix office and asked that Faithlife consider some sort of Apple iTunes-ish model so that people in the same family could share resources the same way they can share applications on multiple iPhones and iPads. Or that they can share physical books. I see where this could possibly dent their earnings

Well, I stand corrected. Happily corrected I might add. Sometimes you guys completely surprise me (sometimes good and sometimes bad LOL)

While I greatly respect your opinions on matters such as these, I can tell you that based on what we've already been told regarding the expense to FL to "verbumize" the LOTH what you're suggesting here is simply not going to happen. I have no doubt what you're saying about having old versions is true. But the simple answer is we already have the old

  • Re: Catholic Study Bible V2 vs V3 NABRE

Craig, This brings up a good general question. Would the 3rd edition appear in Pre Publication? Or I guess, the other part of that question is do all new offerings show up in Pre Publication first? I've already long since gone through everything in Verbum's catalog and culled what I don't have but am interested in into a wishlist. I don't revisit the

  • Re: Catholic Study Bible V2 vs V3 NABRE

Thanks. I suspected as much. I just purchased the 3rd edition from Accordance and I'll take this off my wishlist for Verbum. Accordance seems better in the upgrade pricing aspect on newer editions where you already own the previous one. For a long time Accordance was the only serious player on the Apple side of the house. And I'd owned it for over a

  • Catholic Study Bible V2 vs V3 NABRE

Compared to the Ignatius Study Bible or the Navarre Study Bible, I don't view the Catholic Study Bible as quite as good. However, it has been on my wish list for some time. I already have the NABRE in Verbum, so I just need the Catholic Study Bible which has the commentary. I just noticed that Accordance is running a very good sale on the Catholic Study

  • Re: Ignatius Catholic Study Bible Missing Old Testament Volumes

I could not possibly have responded better. A set like this is meant to be comprehensive and self-referential. As such, trying to use it with pieces missing is a very frustrating experience. Particularly when the lag from physical publishing to electronic publishing is so long.

  • Re: Ignatius Catholic Study Bible Missing Old Testament Volumes

Can I hear an Amen? This set is such a no-brainer for FL to pull into Verbum as soon as possible. Such a chunk of it is already there. The Church's Bible set is another like this where the commentary for certain books of the Bible is yet to be written but then even when it is and with an existing portion of it already available in Verbum, it still seems

  • Re: Pre Publication Link Under Deals No Longer Limited To Catholic Volumes

It appears to be working much better as there's an option to limit the pre-pub to Catholic works now. However, with this change the status bar "gathering interest" "under development" etc seems to have switched to a solid bar rather than a progress bar. Is this a new bug that's been introduced or is it meant to stay that way? I could understand a bug
