Overall score is 5.9 which represents the hard drive; the others are 7.3 or 7.5. Switching layouts takes about 6 seconds, but the slowest component is, frankly, me

  • Re: Relationships of various Christian groups

Thanks, Paul. I think I understand the sort of general taxonomy- and the limits of all these taxonomic conventions. I was just surprised at the first sentence of the original post, i.e., a Lutheran did not consider him or herself to be a "Protestant." Historically, the term only included Lutherans and not, e.g., the Church of England or many of the

  • Re: Roman Catholic Resources

Peter, at the risk of prolonging things, I have two hypothetical questions to try to clarify your position to my own mind. First, would you not purchase, for example, the WBC or Anchor Bible commentary because of the presence of Roman Catholic authors in the sets? Or, Pelikan's Creeds and Confessions because Roman Catholic materials are contained therein

  • Re: Relationships of various Christian groups

Now I--a Roman Catholic--am very confused. The term "Protestant" originates with the Second Diet of Speyer (1529) when the six Lutheran princes "protested" the majority decision of the princes to reinstate the Edict of Worms (1521), reversing its suspension at the First Diet of Speyer (1526). The "protest" was a specific juridical form: essentially

Thanks, Keith! P.S. Lest you think me rich as Croesus, my employer will build the unit and own it. [Let me hasten to add that I am most grateful because I suspect most pastors aren't as lucky when it comes to the subsidy of the tools of their trade.] The IT folks just threw some spec sheets at me and asked me to choose.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I am quite computer illiterate so can I ask for some free advice. Although only 2.5 years old, my current computer only meets the minimum specs for Logos 4My and my university's IT department has given me a menu of options after some standard configuration including Windows 7 Professional, 8G RAM, and 640G

After all this conversation, I'm still befuddled. Edward Pusey, Regius Professor at Oxford, was Anglican. Anglicans are P(p)rotestants....So what's the problem, again?

  • Re: Installing Word Biblical Commentary on Logos 4

Be careful. I discovered that with third-party software the license number comes on the shrink wrap for the CD or even on the box itself.

I called Logos because this situation is the same as with the Essential IVP Reference Collection. Apparently some third-party software is not available via direct download. I was told by Customer Service to telephone them with the serial number when the disk arrived. What they do on their end with that information is a mystery to me.

  • Re: BDAG/HALOT.

A lot depends on what you are doing or plan to do in the near future. BDAG and HALOT are the best lexicons if you want more than a down and dirty, but good translation. You can certainly use those resources for translation but other resources may suffice just as well for that, e.g., Louw-Nida etc. (Although I do not want to be separated from the "big

  • How To Question

In L3 I was able to place in effect settings that would highlight a biblical verse citation in, e.g., BDAG, when a bible was open to that same verse. It was a helpful tool when slogging through dictionaries. I have watched the videos and played around with both visual filters and highlighting and cannot seem to replicate this setting in L4. Is it possible

  • A Christmas Wish: English Translation of Targums

For quite a while now, Accordance has had an English translation module for the various targums. While I greatly appreciate having the targums morphologically tagged, etc., it would be really nice for someone whose Aramaic is quite rusty to have an English translation that can linked to the Aramaic ones. Besides...I am getting old and running down the

I agree with Dan. When I opened Logos the first pop-up window was to the Ray Brown set and I ordered it through pre-pub then returned to Logos. Then the Charlesworth set popped up and I ordered that. Then the Anchor Library set popped up and I paused for a few minutes to see what was therein, think abouyt the price, and then ordered that set and canceled

Thanks, but I already did that, making sure that I checked specific source when pulling out Bauer from the dropdown menu. Just to make sure there was no confusion I double-checked to make sure the keylink was set up the same way. Still...Strong is what comes up.

I recently did the same transfer. There are actually two directories that you need to transfer. The first is the Libronix DLS file that is usually installed in the Program Files directory of your main hard drive. The other directory is "hidden" and located in Documents and Settings. For me, the path is Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
