  • Re: L4 and Precept (Inductive) Bible Studies.

Hi Karen. Good to converse with you once again. The graphic on your site of one your Dad's Analytical Charts is great, too. I know it would be work, but if you had any more of those, they would be fantastic, perhaps as an addendum to the book... But, of course, the beauty of the method is nourishing the skills that your Dad encourages in his book, that

You are welcome. And, I too believe the Jensen book would be an excellent addition to the Logos stable of stars...

Inductive Study is a lot of work, but very rewarding. Before Kay's book, was one by Irving L. Jensen called, Independent Bible Study. It is full of treasures on how to study in this way. I have an old print copy and use it often. It is not in print any more, but the copyright owner, has it as a free download e-book - http://www.scripturetableware.com

  • Re: Maybe it's a fluke but this cut my search times down to nothing...

Disable Display Composition disbales Aero features like transparency - this makes sense to the speed issue... Disable Display scaling has to do with large fonts. Not sure how this would affect L4, but it might. Run as Admin just raises the privilege level of the program - not sure how this would speed anything up

Well, overall I have, for the short time I have been viewing the forums (since diving into L4), I have learned a lot. I have seen many post some inflammatory statements and then later exhibit what would never be on any other forum...a realization of wrong committed or perceived wrong and then apologies were made and relationships restored and strengthened

WPF is Windows Presentation Foundation. Bob's explanation sounds to be the simplest way to explain it. The techo-jargon is beyond me. My brother is a programmer, I'm not.

  • Re: Analytic charts

Absolutely! I did not know it was available as a free e-book, but it would indeed be a good resource to incorporate into L4. For anyone interested in inductive study, his book is where to start. I teach the Inductive Method for Bible Study and Jensen's work figures significantly. www.inductivebible.net

OK, makes sense. I just want to have to go through another 6.1 GB download in case something happens...

Well, if they are on there, they are very hard to find... My DVD says it has 133 MB in the Resources folder... Is there a way to backup the resources?

  • Re: Slow Logos 4

I'll try the temp folder thing. I don, too, do not want to pile on, but I have installed L4 on a Win7 laptop (older hardware 1.6GHz Dual-Core not Core 2 Duo), 2 GB RAM, integrated video, 250GB 7200PM hard drive- this is a new drive bought specifically for installing Win7. It is definitely faster (if the term can be used) than on my desktop running XP

  • Re: Win 7 vs. Vista

Thomas is correct. Your processor has to be 64-bit capable to be able to run Win 7 64-bit. And, on a Vista machine, you can find this out easily. Go to Control Panel | System | Perfomance (bottom left in green pane) | View and Print Details... This will generate a report in which about the middle of the page will contain a line saying whether your machine

Well, with SR-6, al these little tricks do not work. 'Version' does not. 'Show compare pericopes' does not... Oh well...

As far as fast computers to run L4, the HP Envy should fit the bill. I know we should should not glorify 'envy', but this thing is aptly named and powerful, or sounds to be... Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB) - this is a quad core processor (I'm sure many of you know this) 6GB DDR3

And, that is not what I have yet learned how to do. I guess that is where my frustration comes in. I didn't have to assemble collections or customize a passage guide in L3. But, with more resources it is only natural to expect a slowdown I guess. I just thought the indexing would make the wait magically disappear... I'm think I'm going to have to view

Yes, I think I see what people are referring to as speed, by searching for one item. But, my notice of slowness, is when using the Passage guide (And, it searches through all unlocked resources, this really takes time...) But, yes, if I search for one item like, Grace, the search is very fast. I have a slightly slower laptop than you- Dual Core 1.6

What in the world behemoth machine are you runnign it on to get the professed speed you are talking about? A Cray? Really, I hope I get the hang of it, but 3.0 was my favorite and I 4 seems empty and SLOW...

This is listed as a feature in the help file of the Bible Study Library level (which is what I have). so, now we cannot trust the help file?
