  • Re: Carta!

Carta is indeed an outstanding resource, and Sacred Bridge pretty much sets the standard. It is, however, long and technical and expensive. For reference work, however, you do pretty much need to consult it. I have been looking for a teaching atlas, i.e., one I can use as a text in my seminary course, "Survey of the Lands of the Bible." I have two blog

A similar issue to my original post arose in another thread . As a result of that discussion, I can update some solutions here. My original post was based on the discovery that separate searches had to be done for λεγω and ειπον and for οραω and ειδον. A bit annoying, especially if you don't know that these distinctions exist, but understandable in

  • Re: ἔρημος or ἐρῆμος

To get back to Lee's original inquiry... Here's what I've ended up doing. I've created a collection which includes the Septuagint versions of both the Logos and Swete editions along with the Greek NT versions I'm using. (E.g, I added NA28 and SBLGNT, but it might also be good to add the Byz to get the instances noted above in this thread.) So, if I

Thanks for that tip, Lee. Just to keep things tidy, I'm going to repost my earlier list, add your suggestion, and add one more that I realized would work after seeing yours.

  • Re: Morphological Search Problem

I just searched in Acts to speed things up. I had to use ANDEQUALS *σε (instead of GrMorph) with NA27 and it returned 23.22 as the lone hit. I used that search on the SBLGNT and you get 5 hits. With NA28 you got 0 hits. This all just goes to show there is apparently considerable variation in the mss and depending on the Greek version you search you

  • Re: Hebrew and Aramaic Search Questions

Thanks, Jack. I should have thought to try a root search. In the case of מלך however, it is still not entirely helpful. There are two מלך roots to choose, and you would still need to conduct a search to cover both the Hebrew and Aramaic. Doing a Bible search in the NRSV on I get 3315 results. It does include the 2526 times for "king" as a noun and the

  • Hebrew and Aramaic Search Questions

I'm trying to understand how Hebrew (and Aramaic) search works in Logos5. I have a couple of issues. I want to find all the instances in the Lexham Hebrew Bible (or BHS...) of מלך . At this point, I don't care whether it's a noun or verb. I tried Bible search in All Bible Text in All Passages in Lexham Hebrew Bible using hebrew:מלך I get 1021 results

  • Hebrew 'Untransliteration' Keyboard

I do usually switch over to a Unicode Hebrew keyboard, but there are times when it is just faster to use Logos' untransliteration feature. (I.e., start a search with g: or h: and it will untransliterate to Greek or Hebrew.) No problems with Greek, and the wiki has a Greek Untransliteration Keyboard . Hebrew is a different matter. I can't find a similar

@MJ Smith: Thank you for sharing your visual filter files, but I just can't find them. I looked here: https://faithlife.com/logos-visual-filters/documents and they are not there. Is there someplace else I should be looking for them? Thanks! TLbwy! Mark

  • Re: greek: is it possible to highlight all words that occur 50 times or more in the new testament?

@Mark Barnes: Thanks for providing the procedure... So, it is possible to create a 'graduated reader' type of visual filter in Logos based on word frequency, but it cannot be done quickly or easily. Accordance and BibleWorks make this task lots easier...

For that same search, I'm getting 178 results in 178 articles, and my results looks like Dave's with "1 2 Next >" showing up. It is not possible to see any results at all.

Hi, Dave! The reason I want a condensed list is for pasting into a Word doc. E.g., I want to refer to all the passages in Matthew that use the lemma διδασκαλος With just a right-click in BibleWorks, I can get all my refs and output them like this: Mat 8:19; 9:11; 10:24, 25; 12:38; 17:24; 19:16; 22:16, 24, 36; 23:8; 26:18 There just is no easy way to

@KeepSmiling4Jesus: I see on the wiki that you created such a filter, but are you sharing the filter. As you indicated, creating one's own list of lemmas is a daunting task!

It used to be possible to create "Vocabulary Lists" in Logos. Has that feature been removed in Logos 5? That's the way I'd start on creating a visual filter of words according to frequency.
