My recommendation: Laniak, Timothy S. Shepherds after My Own Heart: Pastoral Traditions and Leadership in the Bible . New Studies in Biblical Theology. England; Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press; Apollos, 2006. Here's why: https://allenbrowne.blog/2017/10/04/shepherds-after-my-own-heart/ I'm sure others will have suggestions too.
Are there books in Logos that will discuss in depth some of the topics that you two are mentioning and alluding to?
Any commentaries on Mt 1 will probably help. My favorite is Dick France, The Gospel of Matthew (NICNT series). Or this simple blog post provides some suggestions and quotes: Why ancestry.com? (Mt 1

Since Jews are largely descendants of Judah ...
Not to intrude on Kathleen's quest, but really? ...
Okay, the connection is more etymological than genealogical. Chronicles certainly held out the hope of "all Israel" redeemed through the returned exiles of Judah, and Matthew 1 is talking
January is the month of reading plans and genealogies. Many of us are reading from both Matthew and Genesis, and although the expectation is that I think genealogies are boring, I don't. I have an upcoming paper for a biography of anyone in the book of Matthew. Technically, Judah (the son of the patriarch Jacob) is listed
If Christ shares in divinity, to what extent is that divinity in Christ? Or, more practically, to what extent can that divinity be experienced in Christ? This experience found personally in Christ is the main point of John’s Christology.” When it is said, “to what extent can that divinity be experienced in Christ?
It’s nice to be missed. Thank you. For the last year or two I’ve been working in the IT department of a Christian non-profit, rather than for my church, so I spend far less time in Logos than I used to. I’ve remained in the same church, but as a lay-elder rather than the pastor. I still try and keep an eye on the forums, but
How does Josephus' work clarify the NT works? I want to cite his Antiquities. How can I do so?
Assuming you have bought some books in Logos, open the Library window and search for: author:Josephus The older translation by Whiston is in lots of packages. It includes Antiquities , Wars , and Life . It will take
I just turn javascript off ... prevents purchasing
Yeah, that kind of defeats the purpose. Thanks.

Is there a way to prevent this "Conversation" window from blocking my view of the Logos website? I'm using Firefox 94 on Windows 11, and it happens each time I right-click a link to open in a new window. Minimizing it every time gets tiring.
What are some of the best academic research and writing tips you all have?
Ensure you're including the breadth of views on your subject.
It is likely that current hacks will impair other functionality of the taskbar, so it is best to work with combined icons or revert to Windows 10. This is a problem with the Windows 11 taskbar (not Logos’ fault), but I’m reaching out for help as it’s slowing me down. I work with multiple windows open in Logos, typically 3 or 4: (Bibles, books, search, library). Windows 10 could show each of these in the taskbar, so a single click switched windows. Windows 11 can only show a single icon for Logos
I just happened by Psalm 82:1 (and vs 6) and I see that Logos has labeled Elohim in the Factbook as "Sons of God". Why in the world would that be? This verse has nothing to do with the Genesis 6 passage and "sons" isn't used. I don't understand the Factbook giving this [disputed] definition about heavenly beings marrying daughters

For many new resources, I'm seeing no publication year on the Logos resource page. Example: https://www.logos.com/product/215412/satan-and-the-problem-of-evil-from-the-bible-to-the-early-church-fathers For older resources, we see a year at the top (under the author) and in the Product Details section (sometimes more that one year if Logos produced their
