Mike, Thanks for the clarification. The one file per verse/pericope model is what I'd actually prefer. That model works in BW because making the notation automatically creates the note file, and going to the verse automatically loads the file. Neither of those is true in Logos. As it is, one file per either will swamp everything quickly. Wow....that

  • Search Help

I'm running 4.3 SR-1. I'm working in 2 Cor 5;16ff. I'm interested in finding parallels where a verbal and a noun from the same LN domain appear in close proximity as καταλλάξαντος and καταλλαγῆς in verse 18 or καταλλάσσων and καταλλαγῆς of verse 19. I'd love to do this with a morphological search if possible, but think (because of the need for agreement

Bingo.....nice distinction using the notepad / word metaphor. Yes, my first concern is the notes I'd normally scrawl in the margins of various bibles and some hyperlinks to important lexical and historical citations. One large note file, 66 (plus apocrypha and other) files, or one per pericopae?

  • Re: Pointers on Notes

Thanks....incidently I am running the release version of 4.3 and have played around a bit with PBB. I'm a little suprised here.....I had assumed that exegetical notes were best kept in note files tied to either passages or resource locations. What is the advantage of PBB over note files? It may be that I've just got BibleWorks on the brain, but BW's

  • Pointers on Notes

I'm now a couple of months into a migration from a competing program to Logos. I've got 10 years worth of exegetical notes (mostly lexical and syntactical notes) that I hope to slowly migrate into Logos. The problem is I'm a bit unsure about just how to set up the notes files. I understand the difference between notes that are unattached, notes attached

  • What's Wrong with this search

I'm doing a simple morphological search: lemma:σάλπιγξ BEFORE 2 WORDS *@NG* The search just spins on (the little "spinning spoke wheel goes on and on), over 2 minutes to produce no hits. 1 Thess 4:16 should be a hit among others. What have I missed? Thanks!

  • 4.3 Beta 9 Syntax Searching

I cannot select either the Templates or New Syntax Search from the Syntax Search Query drop down. I can see the options, but I cannot select them. I can select queries from the Recent list on the right side of the dialog.

  • Re: More on LN searches

It simply treats LN domains as lists of lemmas....which is the work around in Logos as well for the LXX. In BW's graphic search engine, you can construct a search using LN semantic domains on any database that has morphological tagging that includes lemmas. Use the LN domains to construct word lists, run the query and then do some manual sorting out

  • Re: More on LN searches

Wow....some real holes in the LXX databases. Because of the way BibleWorks handles LN domains (it simply manipulates lemmas in particular domains, it doesn't depend on tagging), I've grown accustomed to searching across the LXX as a cross check on my NT work. Likewise, no LXX syntactically tagged text. That puts a real crimp into my "normal" workflow

  • Re: More on LN searches

....sorry....I have a collection that I normally search through to do the LXX / GNT work. Hence my desire for a Greek text of the LXX w/ LN tags. I'm hoping I've just overlooked something obvious.

  • More on LN searches

Another question regarding searching for LN semantic domain tags: I'd like to construct searches that work across both the LXX and the NT. After doing a few of these ( WITHIN 10 words ), I noted that all the hits were NT. It then occurred to me that my LXX (Rhalfs w/ Logos Tagging) didn't have LN tags....which I think is correct. I then rolled over

  • Re: Searching on LN domains

Thanks....very helpful. What about searching for a range, for example rather than searching for LN 25.270 I'd like to look for 25.270-25.287 WITHIN 20 WORDS 25.59-25.64. I've tried some obvious combinations to get the range to work but to no avail. Again, thanks.

  • Searching on LN domains

Having constructed a morphological search that looked for two specific lemmas within 20 words of each other, I'd now like to search for words from two different LN domains within 20 words. Is there an "easy" way to do this? Thanks.

Well....never mind. I'm not quite sure why (or how) but I'm now able to see graphs for both the OT and NT. Cool. Now if only I knew what I did to convince it to work.

To simplify things, I've removed the 4.3 beta and am now running only 4.2b SR-1. Still no joy on getting a Results Map with NT on it. I can get a results map for the LXX: I have deleted the LogosIndexer.plist file as referenced above. Attached are the log files after deleting the Indexer.plst file, running L4 and getting the empty Results Window for

  • Beta and Release Version

I installed 4.3 Beta 8 a few days ago. I installed it to a different folder on my Mac, but under the same user. Now, the beta runs find, but the production version can't log in. When I attempt to run it, the Signing In box appears then just spins. It won't run. What have I managed to break and is there a way to fix it?

Two days ago, I installed the 4.3 Beta 8 into a different folder but under the same user account on my 2009 MBP. My hope was to be able to play with syntax searching on the beta, which I understand to be somewhat improved from the current release version. Now...my production version (in the Applications Folder) can't log in....it launches, comes to
