Some time ago Bob Pritchett shared a beautiful story. He got an email from someone saying that this person used to pirate our software, was convicted, bought it, and now emailed the CEO asking for his forgiveness! Talk about repentance. :)

Quite Hobbit-like of you. :) Happy birthday, God bless!

If you go to File > Reading Plans to open yours, make sure you don't do what I did several times! The left column is "new", but I didn't notice that... everytime I clicked on Reading Plan it created a new one instead of opening my current one! My legitimate reading plan is tucked away on the right column of that menu. I don't know if that may be the

Yes, quite true... though I was surprised at the amount of linking in the footnotes. It struck me as a particularly well-researched book, considering the subject has a tendency to be under-researched. :)

Agreed! When I was working on it, I had trouble not stopping to read it; a very fascinating bunch of resources! I will have to put in an order for it as well, I think.

My understanding is that they do not receive credit for online purchases; also, I believe they are no longer commission-based sales, but rather on a bonus structure. The benefit of contacting a sales rep has to do with the fact that they know Logos products really well, as well as an intimate knowledge of the sales that are happening, and sometimes

My understanding is that Logos may have done away with the days of getting a better price via the phone, for the most part. The goal I believe is to be able to offer amazing prices to everyone, not just those who "know the secret" of calling in. :)

I feel the same way Ron. I'm working my way through The New Testament and the People of God, as well as Jesus and the Victory of God. So far they are incredibly well written, and deeply thought out. The man has a towering intellect, I can't wait to delve further into what he has to say.

I definitely would upgrade, Bob. I have an old dented Dell that's 1.6GHz with 1.5GB RAM, and it runs Logos 4 beautifully! I was quite surprised myself... but really I don't notice very much difference between that and my much faster desktop. :)
-
You are running a 64 bit operating system, right? I can't imagine that Logos 4 would see any particular increase in performance once you hit 6GB+. In general I would recommend 16GB only for high-load servers, or maybe a computer used for rendering (for engineering, animation, et cetera). Other than that, I would say it's generally overkill. There's a lot that goes into resource production, beyond just tagging too. From complex datatype and versemapping issues to poor print scans that we need to reconstruct, to invalid Bible references that need to be resolved, to metadata issues. I can completely understand your frustration in this! However I can tell you there is no lying going on from
-
I don't know if this can shed any light on some of these issues, but perhaps. Regarding the confusion on why some public domain books cost x amount and some copyrighted books of the same size cost less, the fact is the more Hebrew, Greek, Latin, Bible references, and other references to other material there are in a book, the longer it takes to produce

That's very true. Though Tolkien said himself that he owed much of his success to the unlicensed paperback publishing of Lord of the Rings in the States...maybe Lewis' estate could take a lesson! Anyhow, I too am anxiously (or eagerly, rather? I said 'anxious' and Philippians 4 popped into my head ;) ) awaiting the day that Lewis' works are added to

Fear not! As one of the Logosians slaving away (I use that phrase with oh so much affection) I can tell you not only that Göttingen will be finished soon, but it's lookin' good! You all read German, right? ;)
