• Book suggestion: Hot Protestants

I am not sure if the "Suggestion" forum is for books or features, but I wanted to suggest this book "Hot Protestants: A history of Puritanism in England and America" I am particularly interested in how Puritan views of politics worked (or didn't) So any recommendations would be welcome.

  • Re: Sale: Preacher's Commentary Series
I already own this set, & while I don't look to it for exegetical guidance (not that it's missing or inadequate--I just prefer others), I very often find application material in this set. Since I already own it & thus don't see the sale price, I can recommend it for those who preach.
That is helpful Bill. Thanks
I’m looking for a library resource that provides information on how the early church implemented church membership. For example, today we might write out member covenants, etc., but did the early church have its version of similar practices for the day and age they lived in? I appreciate the feedback! • Re: Question about "The Works of Saint Augustine (21st edition)

Is there a reason expositions like Psalms are in "Sermons" as opposed to commentaries? For instance in "Early Church Fathers (Protestant Edition)" his works show up in commentaries.......This seems to be a much better arrangement.

  • Sale lower than the Prepub price?

On Sept 18/19 I downloaded https://www.logos.com/product/170630/in-season-and-out-sermons-for-the-christian-year for $11.99 (prepub) , but I just noticed that I could have gotten tonight it for $8.39 because I am a connect subscriber. In this case it is only a few dollars, but isn't this something that Faithlife tries to avoid?

  • Re: Question about "The Works of Saint Augustine (21st edition)
Also hoping that this is simply an oversight and these will show up alongside the older translations: Exp. of the Book of Psalms I-VI and the two volumes from the ACW series. Another note, the second volume of the Expositions of the Psalms (33-50) is tagged as "Sermons", while the other five volumes are marked as "Commentary

  • Question about "The Works of Saint Augustine (21st edition)

So I got in on this when it was on prepub . I am somewhat disappointed that the expositions are not showing up in the passage guide (?). Is this on purpose? Will it be updated?

  • Weird bug in L8 text comparison tool

If you enter Matt 18:15 into the Text comparison tool with the NIV 2011 at the top is does not show "against you" (Interlinear view) in the translations that have this reading. If you switch it to "verses" the differences show up. (?)

I am not able to read logs, I imagine someone else will read them to know what they show. But I do know the program must index after new resources are added and this can slooooooow it down to a crawl on older machines. Did you just download the program? Has initial indexing been completed?

  • Re: An untapped wealth of information

This is all very interesting. Even if there was a {Milestone Excursus} this would enable searching within a milestone. I.e." temple WITHIN {Milestone Excursus}" Regardless....we have it easy with Logos! I can search 5,000 books in a few seconds. I have commentaries by world class authors at my finger tips. THANK YOU!
One work around that may work until they are tagged would be: say one was studying the topic, temple, for example, then your search "heading:excursus" could be expanded to "heading:excursus NEAR temple". Open all of the search results. Open a bibliography document and open the "add" button. Select add all open resources

  • An untapped wealth of information

Every now and then I stumble across an "Excursus" in a commentary and I find it helpful to the text I am working through, but also in regards to other themes and subjects It would be helpful if they were tagged much like journals, maybe tagged according to topics (?). If you do a search you will see that you likely have a treasure trove of untapped
