  • Re: Revelance for today?

Besides the modern arians like the Jehova's Witnesses, there are a few pentecostal churches who follow a "oneness" doctrine. It's similar to modalism, except that Father and Holy Spirit are considered to be other names for Jesus according to a succession of stages. The Athanasian Creed would respond quite well to that teaching also.

  • Re: Roman Catholic Resources

Actually, Pusey was was not Roman Catholic, but Anglican. But to the point, you don't have to read anything by Pusey or any other author if you don't want to. Logos has to market to a broad audience: surely there are many more resources in your platinum package that are congenial to your theological position, whatever it is. I am a conservative Lutheran

  • How do I get Logos 4 to connect to the internet?

Everything was working fine until the last huge download. The next time after that I got the unable to connect to the logos.com server screen. Tried several times. Finally had to click on the work offline button. Since then I have seen no evidence of the program connecting to the internet to check for updates, and I can't see how to annul the work offline

  • Re: OT: BDAG (BAGD??) - Hardcover Edition

Actually, it sounds more like the paper volume the original poster saw is the original edition of Bauer done by Arndt and Gingrich. Acronym BAG. It was based on the 4th German edition of Bauer. That was followed later by an edition on which Danker also worked, which produced the acronym BAGD. This appeared in 1979. Danker himself states concerning this

  • Re: Works of the prolific German theologian Helmut Thielicke

Rosie, I believe that The Prayer that Spans the World and Our Heavenly Father are the same book, probably in different translations. Our Heavenly Father was translated by Doberstein. In the introduction it mentions that a literal translation of the German title is The Prayer that Spans the World. I too would enjoy seeing some Thielecke in Logos.

Tes, For direct Bible study the resources may have somewhat limited usefulness. However, if you use Greek in your Bible study, there are linguistic resources such as Gildersleeve's Syntax of Classical Greek and Goodwin's Syntax of the Moods and Tenses of the Greek Verb. The Blass Debrunner Funk grammar which is already available in Logos presupposes

  • Re: Historical Question regarding book/document used in the Church of England

Looking in my old The Lutheran Hymnal, which followed the historic lessons of the church, the readings for Quinquagesima Sunday, the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, the Epistle reading is listed as 1 Cor. 13:1-13 and the Gospel as Luke 18:31-43. I suspect the Book of Common Prayer would have had the same readings for that Sunday. The newer lectionaries

I was reading one of the new books in a Lutheran base package on the andriod app just yesterday, and was frustrated when I couldn't report an obvious error. I think that over the long run, Logos would benefit by having better quality texts.

  • Re: Do you like "smart" select?

I have the feature turned off in Logos. I often need to select a few words or phrases to copy. What makes that unworkable is that there is no way to back away from an automatically expended selection, as I do often in MS Word, where I can use the mouse to get back to where I was and select just the text I want, even only part of the word if that's what

Está disponible el Manual de Hebreo Bíblico de William Sanford La Sor, que es un método inductivo de estudiar el hebreo basado en el texto hebreo del Libro de Ester. Consta de dos tomos. El primero es el manual mismo, el segundo es una gramática que se usa continuamente según las referencias a los fenómenos que se encuentran en el texto de Ester. El

  • Re: The most important Hebrew feature Faithlife (Lexham) could ever have

I think most beginning grammars will point out that qamets is a long a in open or accented syllables, and short o in unaccented closed (consonant vowel consonant) syllables. When the pointing was developed, one symbol was adopted for two different sounds, but that simple rule will tell you which pronunciation a word with qamets requires.

I don't have the Second Edition of the Great Books, so I can't say what the answer would be for that edition, but the First Edition has some sections missing in the Summa Theologica. One example would be the whole treatise on Christology.

I had some old documents that used the Graeca II and Hebraica II fonts. I installed the old Libronix program which included the ability to convert the fonts from Graeca and Hebraica to unicode fonts just so I could rescue the Greek and Hebrew in old documents like that. Not everything works, but that part of the program still worked.
