• Re: Theological Dictionary of the Old Testament

Add me to the list! This would be my number one priority to get into pre-pub. (Does anyone happen to know if Helmer Ringgren is still alive? Swedish Wikipedia doesn't mention a death date, but they've only got one line, and he's born in 1917, so he'd be pretty old by now. I had his wife in Hebrew once upon a time.)

  • Re: Whom Might We Rescue? (From Gathering Interest on Pre-Pub)

The only pre-pub I'd really like to push would be the Catholic Theology and Dogma Collection. The rest on my list can feel free to linger for a while.

  • Re: Pronunciation crash...

I have another (related or unrelated?) pronunciation issue. I tried the 'read aloud' option, just to find out what the Greek would sound like -- but instead of giving me audio the text starts scrolling super-fast with lots of yellow stars appearing, and there is no way to shut it off, except to press down on the x until the computer finally finds a

  • Re: Dictionary of Major Biblical Interpreters - Almost there!

To get back to the topic that was discussed before I ran into trouble with Amazon: I did some poking around in a sort-of-Baptist seminary library Friday (the only theological library I know of within 3 hours or so). I was mainly checking out commentary series, but I had a quick look at all the dictionaries with 'interpreter' or 'interpretation' in the

Nigel You've seen Friday's blog, haven't you? "The completion of Logos 4 Mac is another huge step in our “one license, any platform” philosophy."

  • Re: Jewish Resources in Portfolio

I thought I already posted this, but it didn't turn up so I'll try again...
I am always excited to see members of the "minority users" on the forums. [Minority includes Jewish, Anglican, Lutheran, Catholic, Orthodox ...]
I must be the ultimate minority, then: formally Lutheran, theologically Catholic, and with Jewish

  • Re: Jewish Resources in Portfolio
At present the only options seem to be to purchase these individually, or as part of the Portfolio version of Logos. Both options are very costly.
You do know about the Early Judaism Bundle and the Hebrew Bible Bundle, don't you? That's how I intend to buy [most of] the Jewish resources some day. And I presume you

  • Re: using the forum - Where is the spelling checker?

Romulo Until a few weeks ago my computer ran 10.4 and (I think) Safari 4. Under that all my spell checking was done with a Swedish dictionary, which was rather annoying considering how much time I spend on American sites. Pretty much every single English word I wrote got underlined... Then I bought a new computer with 10.6 and Safari 5 (in order to

Safari for Mac also has the spell check built into the program.

  • Re: The Term "Evangelical"

"In common use, including on this forum, the word 'evangelical' tends to be shorthand for 'accepts that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God'." That seems to be a bit wide; after all, that's what the Catholic Church teaches as well... In fact, that's what all Christian churches teach that haven't been completely consumed by Liberal theology, Modernism

  • Re: The Term "Evangelical"

"In Germany, for example, evangelisch (often translated 'evangelical') is barely distinguishable from 'protestant'. As a consequence evangelical churches (in the English-speaking sense) often now use the term evangelikal ." It's similar in Swedish. The Church of Sweden is (or is supposed to be...) evangelisk-luthersk , an American Evangelical church

I'm so new to this that I really shouldn't say anything, but isn't there a very simple solution to solve [most of] this problem, which seems to come up a lot: add a column to the library called 'download date', or something like that. The computer already has the information to put there; all that's needed is the column itself. And then we could sort

"I guess they don't have a Swedish store-front yet" As I understood it even that wouldn't have helped. You have to have bought from amazon. com , not .co.uk or '.se' or anything like that.

Well, since I can see the table of contents and the index it must support the viewer. I tried looking for add-ons. and I tried Firefox. and I tried amazon.co.uk, but that didn't help either. Only today -- just when I intended to write a question to the Swedish MacWorld forum -- did I think of doing what, of course, I should have done immediately, instead

Or if you think you have better suggestions, please feel free to motivate why. I'm not very familiar with American commentaries
