  • Re: Would like to see total number of pages in a book easier

The problem with the scroll bar is it doesn't reflect the relative size of the resource. The scroll bar for 469 page resource is not distinguishable from the scroll bar for a 120 page resource. I would like to have a feel for how much more reading is required to finish a resource as I am reading. It would be nice to have some kind of progress indicator

  • Would like to see total number of pages in a book easier

I wish the total number of pages of a resource was more easily accessible. Presently, the only way I know how to find this information is to turn on page numbers as a visual filter and scroll to the end of a book. It would be helpful to at least include this information in the Information pane for a resource. It would be even better if it could be displayed

  • Re: Streaming verses...

Another possibility is to use the Copy Bible verse tool. It will also display a list of verses.

  • Re: Another plea for optimising the Parallel Resource menu

Thanks, Mark for your thorough analysis. I'll have to leave the finer points of how all of this works to you and Dave. I don't understand all that goes on under the hood enough to offer advice on actual optimizations. However, I wonder if there are ways to at least change the user's perception of the speed of this feature. Two suggestions in particular

  • Re: Population of Parallel Resource Button List Should Behave Like Population of New Tab List

My Parallel Resource list is slow no matter what I do between clicks. I just think it would be a better user experience for the results to list as they are found instead of waiting for the whole search to complete before populating the list. Most of the time, I am in a commentary and the resource to which I would like to switch is at the top of the

  • Population of Parallel Resource Button List Should Behave Like Population of New Tab List

The slowness of the population of the Parallel Resource Button List has been documented in another thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/22898/173089.aspx This is by far the one issue that makes Logos 4 Mac feel sluggish at times. I use the Parallel Resource button a lot because I have built a pretty good collection of commentaries in Logos. It

  • Re: B11 - Very slow to list parallel resources

This is still a problem in the Gold Release. My parallel resource lists takes around 30 seconds to populate.

  • Re: Systematic Theology for Newbies?

Culver is an excellent resource. I have a hardcopy version that is in brand new condition that I would sell for $25 + shipping. Another resource to consider from primarily Baptist theologians is A Theology for the Church edited by Danny Akin. http://www.amazon.com/Theology-Church-Daniel-L-Akin/dp/080542640X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282573871&sr

Concise Theology by J. I. Packer is a very good introduction. http://www.logos.com/ebooks/details/concise http://www.amazon.com/Concise-Theology-Historic-Christian-Beliefs/dp/0842339604/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282572259&sr=8-1

  • Re: Logos 4 Mac Widget

I think my dream would actually involve a way of accessing the Biblical text without having to open the program at all. Something more integrated into the OS itself. Perhaps a service that could start at login with menu bar item that would allow you to search and copy a text. Or something like TextExpander that expanded short hand references. Or a widget

  • Re: Logos 4 Mac Widget

I also was wondering if a future upgrade to the widget might expand its search capabilities and integrate more seamlessly with L4Mac. It would be great to have lighter, faster access to the Biblical text through a widget or menu bar type of interface. Once L4Mac is opened and ready to go it is very powerful but there are many times I go to another resource

  • Re: Page Numbering in iPhone/iPad App

Something to help the reader to have a better sense of reading position in relation to the book as a whole would be nice. But my concern is more about citation than navigation. I would like something like the visual filter enabled that shows the page numbers corresponding to the print version of the books.

  • Page Numbering in iPhone/iPad App

Just got my iPad today so I can read my Logos library on the go. I have found this to be a good experience except for two issues. 1. Lack of highlighting and notes. This has been addressed numerous times and promised as future features so I won't belabor this point. 2. Lack of page numbers in non biblical resources. I have not found this issue addressed

  • Looking forward to Parallel Resources in L4Mac

Since visual filters have allowed L4Mac to display page numbers, I am able to use it for about 75% of my dissertation writing. Since I am now using it so much, I have realized how accustomed I have become to the convenience of the Parallel resource button in L4Win. If anybody can give me some insight on knowing who needs to receive what cut of steak

I would have said the same thing until Tom discovered I had a synching problem and offered steps to fix it. See http://community.logos.com/forums/t/16022.aspx Since following his suggestions, A18 is running like a completely different program for me. Much more stable and responsive.

Tom, Thanks, that fixed the CPU issue. It still takes around 480 MB of memory. Will that be addressed with future optimization? Also, I need to merge indexes. Is it ok to do that in the current alpha?
