• BUG: 4.0cR4: Help does not act in a standard way as expected

(For 4.0c RC4, build 9511) If I click on the Help circle (?) in the top-right, I am shown a small dropdown menu as below. Clicking on the "Logos Bible Software Help" opens the Help Panel to the start, which seems correct. Pressing F1 takes me to somewhere else, and not even always the same place! This is most unhelpful and seems to be in direct conflict

  • Re: LOGOS: Your recent response to Metadata Tagging Proposals

I support getting Metadata right. Currently, the Metadata fields are "overloaded": (1) They are used internally by Logos processes and software to trigger how they work, and where they can appear. (2) The customers (thats us) are using the fields for Collections and searching. At present those needs don't match up too well. Can I suggest it would be
You can enter multiple, independent mytags already. Do we really need additional fields? I.E. what advantages do you see in your suggestion over the current situation?
MJ, Thats easy!!! Firstly, Logos only needs to add support for the named fields: User0 ... User9 to the list of possible fields, and update the database
It could easily become a nightmare if, when we teach an ordinary mortal person to use Logos, we have to teach them library science first so they can set up the meta-data, so they can set up their collections, so they can run a simple report so they can learn about Jesus.
Frank, NO - it need not be that hard.
You can click on the star to see a list of MVPs
Hi Todd, Interesting that clicking the star takes me to a page that thinks the 12 of you are "items". Anything special about "Logos and 12 followers"? Reminds me of something ... I hope one of you is not about to do something stupid ...
In "a former life" as a computer business system designer, I would not allow a field to have multiple meanings.
Frank, YES - That was my point about users overloading what they store in "MyTags" and the conflict with Logos using the metadata tags for internal use, and users attempting to build collections and rules

  • Re: The Daily 215 MB download

Maybe any automatic scan of the L3 directories can be turned off except during initial install. THEN, add a new command something like: "Scan Libronix" or "Scan L3" Just as we now have a: "Scan " and "Scan DVD".
Do we know that it's for sure limited only to XP? (I'm running Vista.)
I'm running Logos4.0d Beta 3 now, and took the 17ish Microsoft updates without issue. My PC is Vista32 Pro. Looking again in my Windows Updates Log, one of them was an update to .NET per http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms10-041

  • COM API: Do I need to delete/re-add the Type Library for every update?

For my VB.NET project, do I need to delete the L4 Type Library, and re-add it each time the Beta updates? So far, I have deleted and re-added then made any changes each time, but I'm not sure if I need to. Yes, I know this is a .NET COM Interop question, and not really about Logos as such. I'm looking for a simple answer being something like one of

I even find myself using Logos4 just to look up an English word in my Oxford Dictionary. Makes me want Encyl. Brit. for Logos.

  • Does this sound like someone with Logos on an iPhone or a Netbook?

I found this in one of my many titles in Logos4. Sharing it to bring a smile ... ========================================================================== But, perhaps, the most interesting story illustrative of the practice of carrying one’s reading around with one is that which is told of Professor Porson, the Greek scholar. Let me get a 2nd opinion ...
Just to let you know, there are "no user serviceable parts" inside Logos 4. The system manages the files for you, and doesn't have support for them being moved or manipulated outside the software.

You are correct that you have a specific need which isn't met by Logos at this time, and we hear you. We are not trying to tell you you are wrong about that. Logos has promised they are going to be adding Export and Import capabilities for individual items such as collections and notes and such, so that people can share them

  • Any hint when we get some more of the "Topics Goodies"?

I did a [Search All Text Entire Library] for "peter" and a few items came up in the "Topics" portion of the results. Nice! However, I was watching the network traffic at the time and noticed that my PC asked topics.logos.com about "peter" and the answer was MASSIVE with all kinds of great stuff , but almost none of it got displayed by 4.0dB2. So, the

Thanks Rosie. Yes - I was thinking about Wikipedia too. So it works as well as anything else thats a collection of input from "random" people. One topic I looked at on topics.logos.com was LOADED with lots of problems and content I have big issues with. But tonight would be a bad time to explore making any changes there. Way better to add/edit something

Matthew, Just leave it be please. You have attempted to twist my words and comments in ways that are nothing like I said, and some of your comments are just plain wrong. Please just put down the keyboard and walk away OK. I'm going to ... P.S. Norton Ghost lets users restore an entire drive image, or pick out one tiny .txt file if they wish.
