• Re: Scholars and their work

I am hardly the best person to answer this, but I offer the following. We are all sinners, and often get ourselves trapped up in terrible sins. And one of the big sins the Christian tradition has mentioned is Pride, and so it is quite common for our sin to infect our greatest gifts. For scholars, this includes their scholarship. And so all scholarship
So if you stacked these together against the TDOT/TDNT, how would they compare? Most specifically, would the TDOT/TDNT be primarily a repeat of information? Is it really worth the $680 price tag? How much more information by percentage would you say is contained in the TDOT/TDNT that could not be found in what I already have

  • Re: Pricing so high on public domain resources?

Having created and shared PB's I have made from Internet Archive, I respect the work it takes to do it well. Of course Faithlife has tools and internal documentation to make this easier than it is for us, but to do it well does indeed take much more work than it would for some other formats. As a result, yes, the base price for many books in the public

  • Re: FL: Why isn't the Concordia Commentary Collection part of any of the Lutheran base packages?

I am not aware of any of the internal discussions, but it seems to me that Concordia makes great efforts to control the pricing of their books at other resellers so that they can give the best deals to those on their own mailing list and LCMS congregations. And so very few CPH books are in any of the Logos base packages, and many CPH books are not available

  • Re: Catechism resources for new believer class?

Why not use one of the classic Reformed Catechisms like the Heidelberg or Westminster Shorter Catechism as the base? You may certainly want to bring in newer stuff in class, but we should remember that nothing is so out of date as last year's newspaper...

  • Shober - Review of a Pamphlet

After David Henkel released https://community.logos.com/forums/t/203057.aspx , Shober produced the following. In my opinion, Shober's comments about Henkel criticizing the out of date versions of the plan for the General Synod is valid. Henkel criticized a plan that was not adopted, and what was indeed adopted was different - and did not have some of
Is the Episcopal church still using the 1979 BCP?
My understanding is that the Episcopal Church, USA does still use their 1979 BCP. That said, they use the Revised Common Lectionary instead of the the one in the 1979 BCP. They are working on a revision, however, with some updates at https://www.episcopalcommonprayer

  • Re: Request for Ability to Save to MicroSD Card

On the one hand, I really wish Logos mobile had this on my small Amazon Fire. On the other hand, I see that later versions of Fire OS and Android solve this at the system level by having the OS create a virtual combined drive that includes the MicroSD Card. And to me, it seems much more logical for the OS to figure out the storage instead of forcing

  • David Henkel - Carolinian Herald of Liberty

In the report from the 1820 NC Synod, they had expelled David Henkel, but sent an invitation to his older brother Philip to rejoin them. And while this booklet is SAYS it is about the proposed General Synod, it becomes obvious to me at least that, while it does have some critiques about the proposed General Synod, the major issue here is the legitimacy

  • Extract from the Transactions of the German and English Lutheran Synod for North Carolina and Adjacent States, 1820

As I said in introducing Shober's Luther at https://community.logos.com/forums/t/66580.aspx, schism was approaching. It is now here. In 1819, the NC Synod was invited to send representatives to a conference for organizing a new General Synod. This conference would happen on Trinity Sunday. The regular NC Synod meeting was for Trinity Sunday. So the

There are much better experts than I on all the editions of the KJV. But the print editions I have seen, with exception of the Cambridge Paragraph edition, have had a new line for every verse. And so, in general, the "problem" is not that certain passages are printed as poetry, but rather that EVERYTHING is printed as poetry, including passages that
