• Re: No Church of Christ???
... fragmentation is a characteristic of certain churches especially in particular cultures.
That's doubtless true. Certainly current U.S. culture encourages an individualism where each one of us becomes our own arbiter of truth. And certain church traditions make it easier to set up your own splinter group. I do think

  • Re: No Church of Christ???
Restoration and Church of Christ keep coming up, at least for 12 years that I know of. And there is such fragmentation, that even in the threads, there is often a silence, when the 'wrong' resource is suggested...
I think it's doable, and perhaps not even that hard. Many core resources for Bible study aren't that tied to

  • Re: The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
Cross references are a must for sermon prep!...
I agree. Cross references that are intelligently compiled by a real person are invaluable. If all you're looking for are simple word occurrences, doing a word search will get you there. But if you're looking for a curated list of relevant passages - regardless of the specific

  • Re: Media Tool - Does this work for anyone?

I have been using it recently to develop a presentation deck for an adult class I'll be teaching in a few weeks. It's a bit clunky, but works well enough for key verses that I want to highlight with a background graphic. For reference, I'm running the desktop application on Microsoft Windows with a fairly new desktop, and with decent broadband internet

  • Re: Exegetical Fallacies

Here's an excerpt from the introduction that gives a good summary of what Carson discusses in the book. The examples he uses in the book are just that - examples of the exegetical errors he's discussing, and are not themselves the focus of the discussion. Having said that, I heartily recommend this book. It was required reading in one of my seminary

  • Re: Resources stuck with status of "In production" for two years! When will they be ready?
Well, sure. Since they're all FREE. And the 20 volume series too:
Absolutely - it's very generous of Ligonier Ministries and FaithLife to make these resources available at no cost. I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. Given that they're doing this pro bono, I'm not expecting FaithLife to do a lot of tagging to add value to

If it would get these out more quickly, I'd be happy with them in ebook format rather than full Logos research editions.

  • Re: Wide and "Crazy" vs Narrow Libraries

I take what I'd describe as an intermediate approach. I've gone deep on the "Standard" packages over the last decade or so. I've also made some targeted use of the smaller denominational packages to fill out specific gaps in my library. So for instance, I've bought some of the Orthodox and Eastern Rite packages for resources on the church fathers, the

  • Re: Suggestion: Islamic Studies Collection 2.0
The modern critical resources are quite important to get a balanced picture. The research is ongoing, but it looks like Islam developed from Arab Christianity when it detached from basic Christian beliefs at some point. That could lead to some interesting views: when a muslin becomes a Christian, s/he just returns to her/his

  • Re: Why so few popular highlights?

I tended to see a lot of popular highlights in the books I studied in seminary. At first that surprised me, but then it started making sense. If something is an assigned reading for several schools, then you're going to have a large number of students studying it and marking it up - and likely highlighting the points that their professors have emphasized

I am having a problem with the passage guide. Here's a screenshot: I'm running Windows 10 Pro on an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X desktop with an NVIDIA RTX 3070 graphics card. I'm using Logos 9.9.0.0016. The last time I reported this, I had my screen scaled to 125%. This last screen capture is after resetting the scaling to 100%.
