• Re: Looking for the name of a condemned notion (but not a debate)

There is the notion popular in some circles that God might take His children home early (from summer camp) if they misbehave. I don't know of anything very Patristic about it. I also don't know what the notion might be called. Perseverance comes to mind. If we go with Perseverance, then Augustine should qualify as Patristic. Among his ideas on the topic
Gao ... that's an odd comment ... I use a popup blocker so it shouldn't matter to other folks? Or was that the way it just flowed?
Yes, that was odd--typical of my natural gawky awkwardness. Sorry. My wife and I and a few friends are working on that :) Annoying popups probably do matter to many either by love or by hate. My

On your PC / Mac? Mobile device? I am curious, because this topic keeps popping up and I don't encounter it--much--on any of my contraptions. It's true that I run popup blockers, but the only thing I currently get is a moderately inobtrusive and mildly annoying unwanted "Contact us" in the far bottom right corner. I would rather it didn't annoy me and
A technique to find these references would be even more valuable than the actual references.
You imply that you are asking a question. What is the question? Are you asking for a list of references only? Are you asking for a way to find such references? Are you asking for argument-tags of references? Are you asking for

Seems that the resource you may be seeking is more along the lines of Spiritual Formation. You already addressed that here... https://community.logos.com/forums/t/205744.aspx https://community.logos.com/forums/t/205840.aspx https://community.logos.com/forums/t/205746.aspx And maybe elsewhere. What exactly are you looking for?
The way I look at it, you'll have all of eternity to read the books you don't get around to reading in this lifetime. Some of them you'll no longer be interested in reading then, but reading for joy in the creativity of words, I have to think somehow there will still be a place for that in the New Creation. I don't know,

If only we could go to suffer, kneel, and pray with them. We can and will do it from here too, of course. When we were in a world of hurt, Jesus came to live, work, and suffer among us. For more on this, read C ompassion by Henri J. M. Nouwen . Sure wish Logos sold it.

  • Logos and the Ventilator

I am feeling really frustrated. Needing to vent. I absolutely love Logos--it's not that, it's just that I have more terrific books than a human could read. Thousands and thousands of books, and I wouldn't trade one (well, may a few). Presently, I have 227 books on my "Absolutely Must Read Next (or else)" list. I am very, very happy. I also need to vent

In fact, I did!!! Except it wasn't an accident, I had a purpose for naming it that way at some point--so it would appear at the top of my list of layouts. For me, it may be an age thing. For you, it is genius. Now I can sleep at night. Thanks.
