  • Re: Reading Plan And Split Screen Grey-Out Problems

I called technical support. Once I got past the long hold message and canned announcements (about 10 minutes) I walked the rep through the problem (which I not replicate until the third try, and the rep never could replicate). The solution was: wait for it... "Uninstall and then reinstall Logos on your iPad." How frustrating. I'm not blaming the rep

  • BUG: Reading Plan And Split Screen Grey-Out Problems

On my iPad I primarily use Logos with a Bible open on the left hand side of a split screen and a commentary on the right hand side. These two resources are set to stay in sync. If I bring up my reading plan (in the left hand panel) and touch a link, Logos predictably brings my Bible back up and advances to the location where I am scheduled to read.

  • Are layouts harder to use in iPad v3, or am I missing something?

I split my iPad screen and place the Bible on the left, a commentary on the right, and sync the resources. Prior to v3 if I wanted a different commentary (on the right side of the split) I would tap near the title bar, go to the library, and choose a new commentary. Now, I don't see any way to do this without clearing the split, replacing the Bible

  • How do I find highlights and notes?

I have begun to use highlighting and note taking in the iPad app. Now, I would like to find my highlights and notes... How? In addition, is there a way to find all of my highlights in yellow, or only my blue highlights? Steve

  • Re: Bible Search... What does "variations of the word" mean?

Richard, Thanks, I think I understand now. I do have "Match all word forms" selected (finding that was not intuitive ;-) ). I just want to ensure that if I am going to launch into any particular word study I'm seeing all of the relevant Scripture. I think this is what I need. I can use cross-references from here. Thanks! Steve

  • Re: Bible Search... What does "variations of the word" mean?

Yes, I see exactly what Mark describes. My Top Bibles are NASB, ESV, KJV 1900, NIV84 and NRSV. I understand the colored blocks and how they point to which versions include the exact word and which versions include a "variation". My question is: how does logos decide to include a "variation"? Is it the root of the word, the definition, the original language

  • Re: Bible Search... What does "variations of the word" mean?

I am running a fairly straight forward search using the English language word "elect". The top of the search screen says: "Search All Bible Text in Entire Bible in Top Bibles for" (then, on then next line, in the search box), "elect" Steve

  • Bible Search... What does "variations of the word" mean?

After doing a word search and getting a list of results, I started wondering "Just how does Logos decide what to display in this Bible Results panel? According to the Help available on the Search Results View, the results include both exact term matches and variations. My question then becomes, what is a variation? In my specific case I searched on

  • Re: Bible Notation (e.g., What does Gen 13:7b mean?)

My apologies for not being clear, and for making up the example. When I had time to post the question, and it was on my mind, I simply did not have a valid example in front of me. I do now. I read the following two references in a book: Ezekiel 38:18-19a, and Ezekiel 38:22b. So, I am left wondering... What rules did the author use to determine what

  • Bible Notation (e.g., What does Gen 13:7b mean?)

I can't seem to find a good rule for the meaning of letters at the end of a Bible verse reference. Can anyone point me to a guide, or explain this specific example? I made up the Gen 13:7b reference, but I see this format all the time. I used to think it meant "the second sentence" but that rule is violated frequently. I just don't get it. Thanks, Steve

This afternoon I upgraded to the latest version of the iPhone app. I can now update all resources (and I did not have to delete and reinstall... which is such a bother, and which I've had to do in the past.). I do wish that Logos staff had addressed this issue directly rather than let us sit and grow frustrated with the non-functioning update feature

  • Quick "Jump To Passage" button

I frequently find that as I study my favorite Bible passage, I want to look at several commentaries. A great way to accomplish this is by controlling the Link Set. However, not all commentaries are created alike. I may be studying Genesis 4:1-5, for example. When I look at one commentary, it has notes on each verse. When I click the tab for the next

  • Offline Resource: Unable to download resource LLS:40.170.11

I keep getting this error. I've downloaded the latest iPod app version, restarted my wireless network, restarted my iPod Touch. The error occurs as soon as I try to download "Reckless Faith..." by John MacArthur. Each time I start the app, it tells me I need to update this resource. Perhaps 5 seconds into the update, I get the "Offline resource: Unable

  • Re: Logos 4 Bible Search Loses To Google? Really? A secular engine works best?

Thanks to all who have jumped in to help explain the results (or lack of) that I have experienced. I have discovered several things. 1) You can do a BIBLE Search (why had I not seen that option on the search panel before???) Doh! 2) You can use search criteria such as "WITHIN 4 WORDS". How you discover this stuff is a mystery to me. 3) When doing a

[quote user="John Brumett"] Why not try searching one version such as the KJV or just Top Bible such as the KJV, NKJV, NASV or NIV, ect. Try typing strangers aliens without any quotes and you will find that only 1 passage shows up in the KJV and that is Ephesians 2:12 . Under the search icon try clicking match case instead of matching all word forms

Here is one... I was hoping to find the passage where we are told we are not longer strangers and aliens. I searched Logos, in a Collection I defined with only Bibles (I have 25 Bibles in this Collection). I get a list of passages (teasingly close with Eph 2:1 at the top), but nothing that immediately struck me as "that's it!" I search Google, and Eph

  • Logos 4 Bible Search Loses To Google? Really? A secular engine works best?

Dear Logos, As much as it pains me to say it I find that when I need to search for a passage in the Bible, I turn to Google. My apologies for unfaithfulness, and I fear I expose myself to the potential of temptation whenever I use that secular search engine, but I need to find Bible passages and it simply works best. In L4, when I type in a few words

  • Resource Information Pop-Ups... Can You Turn Them Off???

Hello. While reading/researching I seem to have the habit of leaving my cursor on top of the tab of the resource that I am reading. A few seconds after the cursor comes to rest, a large popup appears telling me all about the resource. Sometimes I really need this information. Most of the time, however, the popup simply distracts me or covers up information
