• Re: Question: Using WITHIN and OR in a search

Donnie, I was doing exactly the same kind of search recently and had the same confusion. Thanks, everyone, for clearing up the non-intuitive way Logos handles this search. And thanks, Mark, for the link to the wiki page and for all the work you've put into it. It's extremely helpful!

  • Recognizing references in parentheses in Notes files

I am frequently inconvenienced when writing Notes files that if I place a Bible reference in parentheses, as I often do to support the preceding statement, it does not automatically recognize and link it as a Bible reference if the closing parenthesis is followed by another punctuation mark. For instance, if I type: (Lk 6:39) and then hit the spacebar

  • Re: Enhancement: Reading View - coloms / columns

+1 Especially since most screens a wide-format now I find the reading view pretty useless because the lines are too wide to be easily read. (Therefore I haven't used this feature since last year when L4 first came out.) Columns or multiple "pages" across the screen would be great. Good suggestion, Lionel.
Oh, actually, what I described in my last post is a separate issue. You're talking about the fact that it currently applies highlight markings such as Label Text

I can't read Syriac right now, never had a lesson. But with .NET4 I'd be able to read it? That's so wild.
Haha! That's the kind of upgrade I'd like. But will it require some new hardware

  • Re: Laptop scrolling?

I recently got a new (pc) laptop and was trying to optimize the scrolling. I wanted two-finger scrolling (ala macbook) and I found a little app that enables two-finger scrolling (and a few other things) for synaptics touchpads (which most pc laptops are). I noticed that two-finger scrolling this way works well in L4 whereas the built-in right-edge scrolling
But I'm antsy for a few things like the sermon addin for example. :-)
Personally, I'm more excited for PBB and word/vocab lists, but that's because I didn't own the sermon file add-in in L3. I think I remember reading that they've done away with the add-in model in L4, but I assume that doesn't mean that we who didn

  • Re: BUG: ctrl z crashed Logos

Yeah, logos have filed a bug report for this one. See http://community.logos.com/forums/t/14838.aspx . Should see a fix in the next beta.

  • Crash (4.0c B2): Ctrl-z with hyperlinks in notes

When I am in a note file and type a Bible reference and then press space it automatically tags it as a hyperlink. If I hit backspace it removes the hyperlink and makes it regular text. However, I did this accidentally and instinctively hit Ctrl+z trying to undo the deletion of the link. Then Logos crashed. It's totally reproducible: open a note, type
1. When I try to rearrange the verses by dragging, it duplicates the verse instead of moving it.
If you click and drag the actual reference hyperlink it does create a duplicate verse entry. If you click and drag in the space to the right of or below the actual reference link text, you can drag-n-drop rearrange it

Just wanted to say thanks, Bryan, for the reading plans. I appreciate your responsiveness. This is a great tool.

  • Re: Right Click

Yeah, I agree that it would be extremely useful to have some way to lookup a word directly from a text. I was trying to use library.logos.com in a desktop browser the other day to do some NT translation away from home, but it was very tedious because there's no way (I could find) to look up a word in BDAG (or any lexicon) without (1) knowing the lemma

  • Re: Reading Plan

+1 I think the thing the mobile platform is best suited to is reading on the go and quick lookups (as opposed to detailed study and guides). So I think reading plan support would be great. I ride the bus everywhere, and it would be great to be able to use that time for reading up on the reading plan. Just yesterday, before I saw this thread, I was looking

  • Re: Logos 4 via a Web Browser: Yet Another Beta

Wow, I am very impressed with this. I was shocked how smoothly it does what it does - the library list and tab behavior. It also scrolls very smoothly through resources, downloading only what it needs (much more smoothly, in fact, than my regular L4 install which, despite contacting support, still crashes every time I try to use it!). I use the mobile

  • Re: L4 consistently chews through memory until it crashes

Mark, et al., I increased the virtual memory on both machines. For example, on the desktop which has 2GB ram I bumped the VM up to start at 2GB and max out at 4GB. But the problem persists. I open to the home screen with no resources open (except those the homepage points to) and then type a passage in the Go box. I know that the exegetical guide accesses

Not sure if that upload worked. I'll try again. By the way, this is without anything else running (no internet, no browser, antivirus disabled, everything else closed). 3223.Logos4.log

That last response was to Todd. Sorry, there were two more posts while I was typing my reply. Mark, it's Win XP SP3 on both machines. I will try increasing the virtual memory (it was starting at ~750mb with a max of ~1500). I doubt it's a hardware issue because it happens on both machines. Thanks for the suggestions! Keith - Yeah, I may need to try

  • Re: L4 consistently chews through memory until it crashes

I thought it only writes a log when you start up holding Ctrl. I had opened L4 since, but not using Ctrl. Previous times when I have looked through the logs right after a crash I have also not seen errors recorded. But in any case, I haven't exited L4 normally in a long time. It always crashes. And if it crashes, perhaps it doesn't have time to write
