I like the sound of this. I'm very glad you realize that the subscription model will only appeal to a subset of users, that's very comforting. Something that hasn't yet been mentioned: a subscription model that regularly rolls out new features, all of which are occasionally bundled up and sold as an upgrade, would probably keep the quality complaints

Yep, I updated to 6.0b RC2 and I can now get to Factbook from the contextual menu. Great! The other issue still remains. I can get from passages to the Factbook, but I can't get from Factbook to passages—that section is missing.
-
Wonderful, thank you! Looking forward to it.

Just following up on this. I emailed Logos support a few times but haven't gotten a response—Sean, could you help me? First off, I really would like to get it fixed so that I can access Factbook again from the contextual menu. My comments above may have made it sound like I don't care if this is ever fixed... that's not quite true, I just don't see

I expect and desire all of my apps to re-open in the same place that I left them UNLESS I close the app by swiping up in the multitask menu. When I do that, I expect that it will re-open in a virgin state—at the home page or whatever is the default. This is normal behavior on iOS. You may want to give this a read: http://www.speirs.org/blog/2012/1/2

Understood, I lumped all of that under "tweaked," though perhaps that was unfair. Regardless, I have lost a feature in the upgrade. I used to be able to access my [Factbook/Bible Facts] data directly from a passage's contextual menu, now I can't. I'm not particularly bothered by that, as it's a minor feature, but I suspect others might react more negatively
-
Technically, yes. If we want to be really pedantic about it, L4 had "Biblical People, Biblical Places, and Biblical Things," L5 had "Bible Facts," and L6 has "Factbook." They're all the same feature, just rebadged and tweaked.
-
That explains it. I don't have that database. Here's what I have under the "Factbook" category:
Factbook DB:BIBLICAL-PEOPLE 2014-11-20T19:03:31Z BiblicalPeople.lbsbpd DB:BIBLICAL-PEOPLE-DIAGRAMS 2014-08-21T20:42:50Z StaticPeopleGraphs.lbsspd DB:BIBLICAL-PLACES 2014-11-20T19:02:50Z BiblicalPlaces.lbsplc DB:BIBLICAL-PLACES-MAPS 2011-02-17T20:33

Could advanced entries on the prioritization list simply be excluded from the sync? I would really like some resources (Metzger and others) to display the Greek text on the desktop Logos app. If they're interacting with textual criticism issues, seeing the English isn't much help. At present I can't do this on the desktop, because to do so would mess
Which Bible are you using?
I'm using the NRSV. But I just checked with the NIV and ESV and nothing changed.
Did you click the tag?
There is no tag, that's the problem. Here's a screenshot:
{image} As David said, it is already there if you select something that would have a Factbook entry on the right side.
Oddly enough, that option doesn't show up for me even on that exact same verse.

It was on the website.

That's what my upgrade price would have been before the Logos 6 upgrade, I'm sure it was due to dynamic pricing. I know the exact number because I made myself a spreadsheet comparing the various base package upgrade options including what each one would cost me.

Formal charges of plagiarism are forthcoming, once I find a lawyer that will accept payment in the form of theological ramblings.
Faithlife never promised beta testers anything but the possibility that we might lose data, corrupt our computers and not be able to roll back to an earlier version (unless we remove everything Logos and start all over). Beta testing is hazardous duty and has many different costs, including the probability of an occasional
However, with many (most ?) resources, "Send to Kindle" is not supported (i.e. not allowed).
Are you sure about that? There are some, but it seems to me that every resource that's available on mobile devices can also be sent to Kindle, unless it's over a particular size limitation. So your tip is still useful, especially
-
Yea, there's a lot of overreaction going on here. This was not a malicious act of reckless violence against the userbase. It was, however, a poorly thought-out decision. Normally going from a 5.x beta straight to 6.0 would be fine, and most development teams wouldn't have to think twice about it. But normally, software upgrades are available to everyone
-
Yea, pricing seems way off for that particular package. I was getting ready to spring $225 for the Logos 5 Biblical Languages upgrade, and now all of a sudden the same upgrade would cost $525 and have a few less resources than the L5 version was going to get me (no more Greek Audio Bible, and no more NA28). Obviously it would also have the new L6 features
-
What's the recommended course of action for those who have 5.3 beta installed and don't plan on immediately purchasing Logos 6? Just run a beta version of the software for the next four months?
-
Has anyone noticed (or would a Logos rep reveal) why certain books are available to send to Kindle and others are not? I assume it has something to do with publisher agreements, but I can't find a consistent pattern. For example, the Logos edition of the King James Version is unavailable for use with this feature, yet The Message is. That strikes me
