• Re: Logos 6 Best Feature: NO INDEXING !!!!!!!!!!

I am reporting your posts as abusive. Note to self: Stay off Logos forums, even in threads with issues that are relevant, because of denizens like George Somsel who seem to "have the microphone" and is able to pick a fight and hurl insults anytime because he is one of Logos' more illustrious customers.

  • Re: Uh-oh - no footnotes in iWork Pages?

If the new Pages isn't working out, you can still use the old one—the update adds the new version, but doesn't replace the old. It can be found under the "iWork '09" folder under Applications.

I also upgraded today and scrolling is pretty slow in jerky, but only in books. I upgraded, and my scrolling speed has taken a serious hit. It was annoying under Mountain Lion, but now it's gotten even worse.

Looking forward to Hegel! It's a stretch, but I bet it's possible for it to get to $20 by Friday.

I'm glad I saw this thread, I didn't realize the credit expired! I just used it to pick up a copy of Muller's Dictionary of Latin and Greek Theological Terms . I've seen it recommended a lot, so I figure it'll be a useful addition.

  • Re: Logos for Kids--why hasn't this already happened?

Here's a relevant quote from Tim Cook (the CEO of Apple) on what makes Apple so good at what it does:
The executive team of the company spends a lot of time thinking and discussing how to retain and recruit the best talent in the world, because at the end of the day – I know it’s a cliché – but people are our most important asset by far, and

Wait, are you saying you DON'T want Logos to try something like this? That the world would be a better place if they didn't try to develop kids software? Or simply that if they tried it, it would be a waste of their money because it would totally flop?
"Yes" to the first and third. Probably

  • Re: Karl Barth
Actually I wouldn't want to start with Church Dogmatics in first year.... while some have mentioned books about Barth, I'd suggest " Evangelical Theology: An Introduction" (not in Logos) which he originally taught as a "farewell lecture" to his students who were beginning theology. • Re: Logos 6 Best Feature: NO INDEXING !!!!!!!!!!

This problem is really unavoidable. We're using powerful software, we need powerful computers to use it, that's just the facts of life. Nobody expects Photoshop to run seamlessly on a netbook, why should we expect that of Logos? As mentioned here, there are certainly ways to get the indexing time down, but all of that requires compromises in functionality

  • Re: Logos iPhone App: Tip and Kudos to Logos
you probably know the double-click on the iPhone/iPod home button brings up all the apps that are open in memory.
Not to nitpick, but those apps aren't all open "in memory." It's a common misconception that iOS operates like desktop operating systems and every open app is actually taking up system resources. In truth, most

  • Re: 2013 iMacs announced - advice anyone?
it is very unusual for Apple to announce something so quietly.
Not with stuff like this. They still hold events for big design changes, but they don't typically roll out the red carpet for routine spec bumps like this one. Still, they look nice, if you're in the market I'd say it's a good time to buy.

  • Re: Requesting user feedback: Send to Kindle feature

So far, the guide posted last year by Fr Devin Roza is the best method I've found for exporting my Logos books to Kindle. It's somewhat time-consuming, but the final product is quite good. Footnotes are fully function, as is the ToC. I would love for Logos to integrate this functionality into the software though. It would make things a lot faster and

  • Re: Purpose of Gospel Harmonies
Does the harmonizing process rob these texts of their individuality? Doesn't this resource inadvertently divest each Gospel of their original literary purpose?
Absolutely. This all ties in heavily with the 20th century obsession with "the historical Jesus," as if there is such a thing that we can know. All we have is the canonical

  • Re: Seminary Books?
I really hated to do it but I had to buy a Kindle book and a paperback today because they were not in Logos. They were required texts.
If it helps, you can still search through books you only own on dead trees using Google Books. It's no fully tagged Logos resource, but it's better than nothing.

  • Re: Free copy of deSilva's Hebrews
Shows normal price now, but this set shows as free for me (but I have it already so maybe that is bogus). Something funny going on if anyone else actually can buy it for $0.00.
I think that's just because you own the set. I got the Hebrews commentary for free, but the set shows up normally priced.

  • Re: Good exposition on Doctrine of Scripture?

N.T. Wright has a book on this that I have seen recommended but have not read myself: Scripture and the Authority of God . I personally found quite a bit of wisdom in Joel Green's little book Seized by Truth: Reading the Bible as Scripture. (not available for Logos, unfortunately)
