• Re: Best one volume commentary

According to Carson: "One-volume commentaries are too brief to be useful in detailed exegesis and exposition, but they have the advantage of providing at least something on every book of the Bible—an advantage when the student or minister is young or able to maintain only a very small library. The New Bible Commentary (IVP/Eerdmans, latest revision

We can approximate how many votes are second votes by comparing the different contests. Carson is solidly beating Mounce and the total # of votes between them is just under 4,000 votes. Most of the others are sitting at or just above 4,000 votes. But Wright-Moo, who have been neck-and-neck (I had trouble deciding which to vote for!), have 4,400 votes

  • Re: March Madness and Academic Discount

And perhaps the bigger problem is that Logos has to get prices approved by the publishers, which is challenging. What publisher wants Logos selling electronic copies of their books dirt cheap when they are still trying to sell hard copies? I don't think combining the discounts would work out for Logos. I am surprised they are able to get the okay for

Okay, I added it here . This seems like it would be so easy for Logos to add and so useful for us! Please vote for this suggestion.
Just my two pence. I'm logged into my laptop and my nexus and it does allow me to vote twice if I want too. ChelseaFC
That's because you're not logged in as you to the Logos site, so it doesn't know it's the same person. Log in, and it will even show you the status of each election without you voting a second time.

It doesn't matter what computer I come to the march madness page from, it won't let me vote if I've already voted, because my office computer, my laptop, and my wife's laptop are all automatically logged in as me. That tells me something: Logos only wants me to vote once. Yes, it's easy to cheat the system: just log out. But if Logos wanted us to vote

mike, We're not required by law to vote only once, but the nature of the contest is to see which author most of the people in the Logos community want to see advance. Logos probably lost a lot of sales because Bruce Waltke and others did not make it as far as they should have. Any of us could have logged out so we could keep voting and rigged the ballot

  • Bible Word Study: Textual Search doesn't search Loeb volumes?

I have a number of Loeb Greek texts, but I never see any of them come up in textual searches in the Bible Word Study. I can even go into one of the Loeb volumes (e.g., Eusebius, The Ecclesiastical History, vol. 1: Greek Text ), right click on a Greek word, click on "Lemma" -> "Bible Word Study," and get results for NT, LXX, Ap.Fathers, Pseudepigrapha

  • Link the Religious and Theological Abstracts to our theological journals

I'm loving the abstracts in Religious and Theological Abstracts , but it would be nice if when I come across an abstract for a journal article that is in my library if it would link to it. Instead I have to remember, "Oh, yeah, that's in my library," and open the resource manually.

Will the English version have German page numbering indicated in some way so we can follow a reference in another resource to a particular page number in Str-B?

You can make it pretty easy to get a Logos account for those who don't have one (with no need to make a purchase) and then require membership to vote. Or you can have people log in via Facebook and have one vote per Facebook account. Facebook will give you their email address, so you can verify that someone is not voting once via their Logos account

Darn. Not only did these guys lose, but so did Beale and Waltke (who were winning when I originally posted). There are potentially some really strong exegetical tools that only made it to 30% off. :(

  • Re: Searching Journal Articles for a Passage

Thanks for the detailed responses! This is quite helpful. It still would be nice to have the central subject of an article identified as Mark Smith suggests, but without that at least your suggestions give me the best I can do with what we've got. Thanks again.

  • Searching Journal Articles for a Passage

I know there are multiple threads on this subject, but I can't seem to find what I want. Let's say that I'm researching the end of Mark's Gospel. There is an article on this in BBR 18 (through Theological Journal Library vol. 15). How do I get Logos to tell me it's there? It would be nice to get this to come up in the Passage Guide on Mark 16:9-20,

  • Re: Vote for Keener, Schreiner, Marshall, and Hoehner

They might. I think I've seen Logos add a new resource for an author during March Madness. I could be wrong, but in the past I remember there being an author that I thought there wasn't much for and a few resources I hadn't noticed before popped up that March.

  • Bundle the Newer ICC Volumes (20 volumes from last 30 years)

I wish I could buy the entire International Critical Commentary, but I am poor. The next best thing: Get the volumes that represent the latest research. I think Logos should bundle all the volumes that have come out in the last 30 years and offer them so we don't need to pay for the volumes from 1900 just to get a discount for buying the whole set.

  • Vote for Keener, Schreiner, Marshall, and Hoehner

All four of these guys are losing, even though some of the resources they have in Logos are excellent! I don't know if Keener's Acts commentary would be included but you can't find a better commentary on Acts. And look at these products: https://www.logos.com/products/search?Author=2737|Craig+Keener Or how about Schreiner? You can't get much better
