John Evans' Guide to Biblical Commentaries ( https://www.logos.com/product/190255/a-guide-to-biblical-commentaries-and-reference-works-10th-ed ) gives Hultgren's commentary a star - meaning

[quote user="Josh Hunt"] I heard this quote in a sermon today. Couldn't find it anywhere in logos books. Hi, I find Brown's books useful. He's moderately critical. With the Gospel of John commentaries (not included in this set, you can find them in the AYB commentary series) he has some very complicated source theories regarding the original (hypothetical?) Johannine Community (perhaps also with the "Introduction to the Gospel of John" in this set? Haven

Greetings from Finland Europe! Today the Finnish government declared a state of emergency or a martial law, closing all schools and redirecting all teaching to be conducted remotely and digitally, via internet, social medias etc. to protect all the elderly and all in the risk groups. All public meetings are restricted to 10 persons max. All state museums

Ordered it as well. Thanks a lot, Logos! Others worth getting - besides the Carson and McKnight books DAL referred to above - are Hans Dieter Betz's Hermeneia Commentary and John Stott's exposition ("The Message") . Historically of course St. Augustine's Commentary, Luther's exposition in LW 21, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer's The Cost of Discipleship. It

As to resources that address the question “those living BEFORE the incarnation who couldn't claim a faith in Christ because they were unaware there would even be a gospel could be saved”, I recommend checking out commentaries that address the following topics and/or Bible passages: All the New Testament

Ah, make’s sense… Sure, Boice gets a lot of mentions - e.g. Genesis, Joshua, Nehemiah, Psalms, Daniel, the Twelve, Gospel of Matthew, Sermon on the Mount, Gospel of John, Acts, Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians. All of these Evans mentions. Most of Boice’s commentaries get a white star from Evans (meaning a Worthwhile Purchase, but not a first

[quote user="Paul Caneparo"] Does anyone know how John F Evans rates the Cyril Barber commentaries? I'm thinking of the 9 on the Historical books - Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, Ezra/Esther, Nehemiah - and Jonah.
