  • Re: Books missing from my Logos 3 to Logos 4

Actually, I just got a repoy from customer service. Here it is: If your question needs to be answered immediately, we have an active 24-hour, world-wide community forum where you will find the answers to just about any question you can imagine right away at: http://community.logos.com/forums/ Ironic. They also say if the problem isn't solved on the

Wow--just found that... It makes this a lot easier to use. Still no email notifications, though, which would be even nicer. :-) Russ

  • Re: L4 not downloading new books

This is one of the reasons I just don't bother upgrading any longer between packs... I've bought so much stuff individually that it makes no sense. Logos doesn't seem to have a "differential" policy--you own 3/4 of the books in this version, so you get it for 50% off rather than 25% off, or something like that. There have been several cases where I

Customer Service isn't responding... I wouldn't have bothered trying here if they were. Why does Logos have an email support address if no-one ever answers it? Russ

  • Re: Support for Kindle DX - or any other ereaders

How often do you have real access to wifi, though? Hmmm... Most of the time, I don't. The question then becomes--could I put it on my existing AT&T account? As for reading being easier on the Kindle--I agree. I find reading easier on the matte white backround screen. Most folks prefer to watch movies and other entertainment on a shiny backlit screen

Agreed--it's impossible to find my posts to see if anyone replied, and the subscription doesn't seem to be working? Russ

This doesn't seem to work for me... I bought a new book which apparently only comes in L3 format. When I insert the CD, it wants to install L3, which I don't want to do... So I copied the file over, but there's no way for me to unlock it, from what I can see. I've had the book for well over a week--closer to two weeks--and it's not synch'd down yet

  • Re: Support for Kindle DX - or any other ereaders

The iPad is on the AT&T network--any news on how much the monthly data plan is going to cost for it? The iPad looks large, too, IMHO--it's essentially a very thin laptop. The Kindle is much smaller (maybe not the DX, but the standard Kindle). Since I already carry a laptop when I travel, and a wacom pad, a ton of cables, a protable hard drive, etc.

  • Synch between MAC and PC?

I have a MAC laptop, and a PC desktop. I would like to try and get logos up and running on my mac laptop, so I can use it when I travel. Is it possible to synchronize resources between the two? Or do I need to buy resources for both? Russ

  • Re: Installing New Books

I have two more prepubs that I received emails for yesterday--there's unlock codes for them on the web, but the update wants logos 3, not 4. How do I go about unlocking these files in Logos 4? Again, the servers at Logos apparently don't know how to handle this situation--maybe I should cancel all my prepubs, since they don't seem to be working right

  • Installing New Books

Y'all: I purchased on set of books--Jesus and the Feasts--on pre-pub, but it only came out on CD. I received the CD, but there's no unlock code, either online, or on the CD. When I try to install it, it wants to install Logos 3. If I try just copying the library files to the right directory, Logos 4 doesn't recognize them (IE, won't unlock them). The

  • Re: The Cloud

Bob: Thanks for the answers--again, very helpful. What always concerns me, as I've said elsewhere, are the unintended consequences and the confluence of information. I live in the world of EEFIs, PCI, and all sorts of other nice acronyms, even if it's not my "primary" job. I especially feel for you on the PCI front. *sigh* Anyway, I'm not trying to

  • Re: The Cloud

Damian, thanks for the answers... Those were/are helpful. I hope Logos seriously looks into the problems with "the cloud" if they continue moving in this direction. The problem is always in the unintended consequences--they never smack you in the face like you might want them to. I know folks here think I'm a kook--I'm fine with that. I've been called

  • Re: The Cloud

Oh, and one other thing that would help: Logos should "fail open." If it can't reach "the cloud," it should always revert to a state of using a local license file and local files for all access. In other words, it should never fail in a state that causes the software to be unusable if "the cloud" fails, or can't be reached, or the end user needs to

  • Re: The Cloud

For now. And that's what really bothers me. If Logos is really committed to this path, then there will be a point where you can't use Logos off the cloud. That, in fact, is the point of the cloud, in the end. It's not the current state of things, it's the trajectory this starts. Yes, I know it saves support costs. What's the human cost of saving support

  • Re: The Cloud

Um, no. But I'm seriously involved in Internet level security, and security in the cloud worries me a great deal more than it does most people. I know this might seem "weird," but if you sat in meetings with DHS and various classified military groups, and discussed "the cloud" as I have, you would experience a serious eye opening. • The Cloud

I see Logos is "in love with" the cloud. As an IT professional, I must tell you that "the cloud" is going to crush Logos, if Logos isn't careful. "The Cloud" is just another name for "the community at large." While I understand the strong desire to jump on the bandwagon of being a member of the community, take a lesson from someone who lives this life

  • Importing Old Content

Someone said here that you can import your v3 resources by using some command someplace. Can someone tell me how this is done? Apparently my help files are empty, because I don't see anything in help about it, and there's nothing in any of the menus I can find about importing data. Russ
