  • Re: The Nonviolent Atonement, 2nd ed. -- needs more orders

This is indeed a most important subject! Thank you for bringing special attention to this resource. I would have totally missed it! I have now pre=ordered it and hope others will do likewise. I have been studying this subject most carefully. I have added much material on this topic in my greatly expanded edition of my New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

The feature I use most is "Layouts." I use them to keep track of the books I am reading. I also have preserved in "Layouts" special kinds of searches, especially reciprocal cross reference searches in my book, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge .

It is a long read, but in my estimation, one of the best classic studies is the three volume set by George N. H. Peters, The Theocratic Kingdom. Logos has it available in both the three volume and a single volume (digital file which includes the three volumes). I have and use both. I recommend the 3 volume edition for accuracy. I use the single-file

  • Re: Thoughts on apologetics and theological discussions

I have had an interest in apologetics for many years. I have placed notes on the subject in my book, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge , at 2 Peter 1:16 and elsewhere throughout the volume, which most of you know is a Logos resource. I have a printed book that is not in Logos or anywhere else that I know of that has been a wonderful resource.

I suspect the current publisher desires to keep my newest work (2016) an exclusive offering for a while yet. But if there were sufficient requests, perhaps that would prompt a release to other platforms like Logos.[quote user="DAL"] [quote user="Jerome Smith"] Thank you to everyone for calling attention to my book, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

Thank you to everyone for calling attention to my book, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. It is currently offered at a very good price during this Nelson Sale. If you do not have it, be sure to get this Bible study tool. It is far more complete than the original nineteenth century Treasury of Scripture Knowledge.

My copy was published by Kregel in 1978. It is a reprint of the second edition. Large page size, hard bound. I refer to it in my book, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, a resource available in Logos.[quote user="Beloved Amodeo"] [quote user="Jerome Smith"] I have owned and used the print version for many years and highly recommend this resource

I have owned and used the print version for many years and highly recommend this resource. I, too, have had my bid in for this for quite some time.

I keep track by listing them in the "layouts" section. This has worked very well for me.

  • Re: Thompson Chain

The Thompson Chain Reference Bible links Bible topics from Genesis to Revelation. The topics are identified in the margin of the Bible with a reference to the next verse in the chain. Each topic is given its own number. In the back of the Bible is an index by number to the topics. It is a very well-done Bible study resource. If, for example, you are

At 1 Peter 2:3 in my book, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (a resource available in Logos), I have placed a note which lists the passages I have found where the New Testament cites the Old Testament in a manner so as to apply Jehovah to Jesus.

    While my resource, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge , will not directly answer your question about the Hebrew word Elohim , there are several notes and sets of cross-references that will come close to answering it. Just now, I checked, starting at Genesis 1:1, God. Heb. Elohim. H430. Gen 2:2; +Gen 19:29; +Exo 2:24; +Ps 45:6; Ps 89:11; Ps 89:12;

Along the same line of thought, I have noticed that there are few if any links to bibliography entries given at the end of a book which do reference specific books or especially, journals (by page number), which I have in my Logos library. It would be nice if at least those links worked or were made available.

I have all three volumes in your cart. I am currently reading Nelson's Illustrated Guide to Religions. It is well worth getting. It is introductory in nature, but very informative. That is to be expected. I have whole books about some of the many religions discussed. I have had extensive contact and discussion with a few of the religions. The content

Contrary to Jan Krohn's reply, I would state that the cross references given in the passage guide do not match those I have given in my book, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. https://www.logos.com/product/1214/the-new-treasury-of-scripture-knowledge There might be some overlap, But the New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge has far more cross references

Another helpful resource available in Logos is the three-volume work by George N. H. Peters, The Theocratic Kingdom of Our Lord Jesus, the Christ . It is heavy reading at first, but likely the most scholarly and thorough work on the subject. I have found these volumes worth the time it takes to read them.

The first resource that comes to my mind is Milton S. Terry, Biblical Hermeneutics , pages 173 and 203 of my print edition. Chapter VI, "The Grammatico-Historical Sense," pp. 203-210. I have this resource in Logos as well, but it is easier to just pull my hard copy off the nearby shelf of works on hermeneutics.

  • Re: For and Against Calvinism Question

I own and have read this book carefully. I have had it in my "dead tree" library for several years. It is well worth the time and effort to read. I especially have liked how Roger Olson in his books will mention a helpful resource and I have found his judgment as to the value and significance of those resources to be excellent.
