• Re: OT Best PRINT book for person addicted to drinking?

My personal experience is that books are not usually an effective or useful way to address these issues, due to the implicit nature of the condition. Saying that all the books mentioned sound great, but is is such an invasive condition with so many inherent defences that, as I suppose is the case with all things, all we can show is the love of God and

I am with Faithlife on this one (and how weird that feels), what more could they do, they even gave a warning. The site is working exactly how it should, there is no need to have a go at Faithlife.

I'm still then confused by an effective interest rate of 129%.
Wouldn't it be 29% (interest), not 129% (principal plus interest)?
no it is 129%, think of it as a $106 loan for 3 months (I.e. six months but on average half is due) after which you pay $35 interest, so for a year

In the UK this model of charging would be considered unethical, but i get the impression that it is not seen as such in the USA. The moral of the story is do not use a payment plan unless you understand the net cash-flows.

  • Re: Plea for humility in what we think of another group

Firstly you should not generally be making statements about other groups in the first place as this is theological discussion. Secondly comments about how Christians should behave is in itself a theological question, to try to enforce a particular philosophy beyond obeying set rules is in itself a theological position that is being disguised as something

I have been grumbling of late that I did not get any email saying that connect benefits had changed the all of a sudden I get an email saying that my benefits were here and I could claim my faithlife original ebook as well as a classic ebook. Marvelous I think, nothing has changed but the links do not work and refer me to the new pages for three classic

And they make the change to chat I had already paid for without even telling me what they were doing, OK I knew because I read the forum but it is really poor not to email me. I understand that there have been issues recently with emails, but they said they were looking into is and basic communications should be sorted, especially when they see no problem
The last item is not free because it is not one of the "classics".
This is my assumption based on the conversation I had with someone. I quoted Origen and they claimed he was a heretic and they don't accept him. He is a church father so I just assumed each church picked and chose what they accepted. Basically what I am trying to do is graph accepted documents, teachings, creeds, confessions
Can we compare the traditions of which Fathers are accepted by what group with logos? Kinda like comparing canon?
Don't forget that historically Protestants see the Church Fathers as being authoritative as well, Calvin's famous quote that "Augustine is totally ours" is especially well known. Of course it does help
The preponderance of the evidence points to the greater probability that WLC's book will get published. However, much depends on the possible universes God could create that would maximize the number of WLC volumes published, which is further bounded by the counterfactuals of the creaturely freedom of publishers outside

Could you have a look at the (c) info. I have heard of at least 2015 and 2016 corrected printings. Thanks, Tom
It reads: Great Clarendon

  • Re: Authorized - New on Faithlife TV!

I enjoyed it but I do not understand who you can seriously approach the subject without at least addressing textual criticism which underpins many of the translation issues. The film did not really address what many people see as the central issue.
