  • A Question About Licensing

I would hav preferred to send an e-mail but that doens't seem to be an option so I hope it's OK asking here. I recently helped a pastor of a church install Logos for Windows. I think it was the Scholar's Base Package based on the price (over $500). Later another member of staff asked me to help him install it on his computer. I mentioned that as far

  • Re: The Samaritan Woman at the Well

"Attempting to say"? Well, thank you for clearing that up and letting people know what I was trying to say. Where would we be without Google,Wikipedia, and those who have mastered the skill of copying and pasting from them. You were joking, right? Oh, you weren't. That's too bad 'cos it was funny if you were. :-)

  • Re: Questionable "Bible Study Magazine" Ad

Goodness, what a lot of heat (and fire) and precious little light! Please do remember that Jesus prayed we would show we are His disciples and that He was who He said He was by our love for one another, not our love for doctrine. The early church impressed the people around them by their LOVE for one another not by their correctness of doctrine. History

  • Re: Bible Translations

I don't care much for its expansions. "Mary was the mother of [gave birth to] Jesus, who is called the Christ [Messiah]" Why does 'mother of' have to be expanded to 'gave birth to'? I mean there's no confusion that she is both the mother of and the one who gave birth to Jesus. As far as I can tell, every "Christ" is accompanied with the expansion "Messiah

Re the side track discussions, the OP has asked politely not to do this. Please respect his wishes. Thank you. PS. What's with the abundance of colour and large fonts? it's really helpful when used sparingly. Overuse makes it LOUD and more likely to be ignored eventually. I know, I could have made all that shine and shake and shiver nad twinkle but

It would serve all better if we stop imposing our 24 hour (of 60 minutes each) notation on a culture that didn't use it. The Jews always had 12 equal divisions to a day, called "hours" but they aren't the same length as our "hours" because they vary according to the length of the day (from our POV). Such terms as "6am", "3pm", 6pm" are inaccurate most

  • Re: Women's Bible Study Collection (12 vols.) - Demeaning?

Oh, dear. Such a lot of heat. Some light. :-) When I hear someone say that Paul says I do not allow a woman to teach or to usurp the authority of a man, I often wait to see if they are making a point or exploring options. It's worth noting that "woman" and "man" may be incorrect and that "wife" and "husband" is more likely (more common). If not, then

  • Does Anyone Else Experience Delays/Stalls When Moving Through Pages?

Galaxy LTE II, Android 3. something, Hi-speed Internet, excellent wi-fi (n) connection. When I swipe (or whatever the correct term is) to move to next page, there is a noticeable delay or lag in the display. I'm not doing anything very complicated. Just reading a book or bible. Sometimes it can take more than a minute to display the next section of

  • Problems (Differences?) Scrolling in Logos 4

I thought that scrolling in documents and windows in Logos 4 didn't work but I discovered it works as expected on one of my systems. What I can't figure out is why it works on that system and not on the others. Is it because it's XP? An actual wheel? The differences don't seem to account for the different results. I'm going to try different settings

  • Re: Tablets

If it helps anyone deciding on a tablet... I tested the Acer W500 ($600 with keyboard/dock). 32G, 10.1", Win7 running Logos 4 including a few bibles, books, and the very large Perseus Collection. The Tablet: Heavy and awkward. It's quite thick and at 2lbs it's very heavy. That may not seem like much but balancing that sort of weight in one hand is a

  • Re: How Can I Hide (or Remove) Unwanted Books in The Library?

I began with the Logos 4 Windows 'engine' which I installed because I wanted to access the Perseus Collection. They also had the SBL Greek NT and LEB bible for free so I added them. Since then I've added a few books (free and purchased). My latest 'big' purchase was the NASB collection (KJV/AV, ASV, NASB95, Amplified, La Bibla de las Americas, Naves

I found the best way to get rid of the Perseus Collections -- remove Logos. All fixed :)

  • Re: Tip: How to hide up to 10 resources at once

You'd think Logos would have a simple list you can (un)check as it suits you. I tried this convoluted way of removing excessive resources and it just doesn't work. Either the instructions are flawed or I am. Either way, it doesn't work. Anyone know how I get my money back from Logos?

  • Re: How Can I Hide (or Remove) Unwanted Books in The Library?

I just spent 30-40 minutes trying to navigate the panels/tabs and the frustrating exercise of manipulating the Library and Program Settings and having them switch and close. I can't even scroll using my touchpad (works in every single other app!). Deciding what to use or not use in a program should be as simple as (de)selecting a list. I even tried

  • How Can I Hide (or Remove) Unwanted Books in The Library?

I downloaded the Perseus Digital Collections and the books have sort of taken over my Logos to the point where I can't get at the info I want most of the time, especially on my Android device. Question #1: Is it possible to remove (delete) individual books from a collection? Question #2: Is it possible to hide a list of books I don't want to see? I

I like his writing style. I think he can be 'deep' and thoughtful but not lose the common man. He is (was?) the Bishop of Durham if that makes any difference to anyone. As for him being a Jehovah Witness, that's a bad joke, right? You can find most of his stuff accessible for scrutiny or nit-picking or however you are moved here: http://www.ntwrightpage

I had entered my full name in the "Private" area and the forum name in the "Public" area assuming that they wanted my actual name but I could choose a "public" name. I changed them both to "PetrosD" and it worked. It's all good. :-)

Does anybody know how to change the system so that it doesn't post my full name? I've tried to change the settings but it keeps listing my full name instead of my forum name.

Thank you everyone for the input. AMP linked/keyed to Strong's doesn't really matter, jsut handy if it did. NASB matters because I'm used to looking up word meanings, background, use. etc. in another product (using KJV+Strongs). I was going to buy their NASB Package (NASB77, NASB95, Dictionaries, Concordance, Notes and Cross Refs all linked to Strong

  • Does NASB, Amplified, etc. in Electronic Library Have Strong's Numbers

I have Logos 4 with SBLGNT and LEB. This is a very basic (free) setup, not a 'package'. I want to add the NAS Electronic Library ( http://www.logos.com/product/8734/nas-electronic-bible-library ) but only if the NASB, AMP, NAS Concordance and Dictionaries, etc. are linked/keyed to Strong's Numbers. If you know for certain that these versions and modules
