The president of my seminary gives every new student a copy of his book "building a theological library" . He also makes the PDF freely available on his website. Danny Akin is of course the president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a seminary with an enrollment of around 4500 (for last semester, no idea for this one) students who visit

*chuckle* I saw the thread title (the first part of it any way, apparently not the whole thing), and thought "Jeesh, more spam!". Due to the nature of some of the spam posts around here I half expected to see a link to a place to watch a pirated copy of "the hobbit" or something. Happy to see I was wrong :)

That sounds like a great question... For the sales team :) I suggest giving them a call, or sending in an email. they have always bent over backwards for me.
-
I have some for them as well :) I have been watching closely the silver upgrade package... Its a pretty solid set it looks like, and would augment my L4 scholars package well! I noticed a disparity in the ad on the upgrade page, and the reality in my cart, so I messaged them. Their initial reply was "sorry pal". But the sales guy went ahead and talked

I am having an issue where it shows an upgrade discount of 30%. But when I add the package to my account, it says 25%. But after the sales rep went the extra mile, and talked to his manager, we worked out an arrangement that satisfied me. I don't think I ended up with exactly 30% off... But with the consolidation of two existing payment plans, I'm only
How do you keep Spam down? Well, there's always Pepto-Bismol.
Not sure that would be enough. Though, I hear spam is pretty good fried crispy, and served with ramen (cooked, drained, mixed with corn). My sister likes it fried with eggs o.O

Or Even a book/product of the month for the future moderators... Who wouldn't jump on that?
-
Even if you wanted to set up some sort of "in-kind" program where the volunteer moderators committed to a certain number of hours in a month, and at the end of the month, they get xx$$ worth of book credits. A britt, an aussie, and a north American ought to suffice on a trial basis... If each committed to two hours a day, and was offered either a credit
I've seen several within the last week. Automated bots could be programmed to work as slow as human beings, and could probably be made to edit their posts (spammers here regularly do so to get links in) and to "learn" over the course of several trials how to post links into a forum that should preclude posting them in the firstplace (some html

I tag my finished works (where necessary) and compile pbbs... This way my work comes up along side the work of authors published within Logos.

Personally, I have the view that all who own logos are in some sense - and as a result of their ownership - librarians. Personally, I like a glass of un-sweet ice tea, to kick back with my feet up, and then use the search button. Obviously, if you are in an actual library shoes are preferable.
-
Email verification can still be done by a "bot". Captchas are a lot more complicated for a computer to figure out. They depend upon our own pattern recognition abilities, something that has not fully translated into computers.

Armin's idea is a good one. But consider with me a moment another angle. Imagine you are a recent purchaser of the software, and you are having a glitch. You've never posted to the forum before. You have a sermon coming up on sunday, or a paper, or a test, or something where the functionality of Logos is hugely beneficial. Your very first post (or up

Step 1. Institute a captcha for all new members to prevent robots from making spam (most likely the new members that have only 4 posts, all four of them advertising some other site or produce are in this category). Step 2. Track our IP's - when it changes, challenge us with a Captcha. This means most of us will have to solve a captcha once a week or

Closing remarks for my part... I'm hoping to be able to study under Black - he teaches at my seminary. He's only teaching greek during J term, and thats not a class I want to pack into two weeks. Also apologies to Logos for violating rule number 1 &2.

Is it the word "Garbage" that you are referring to?[/quote

You are not alone. After taking a close look at some of the books, I decided that I would not be using them because they contain very basic knowledge (in the areas of my liking). If someone was just starting seminary, I think they would be of a great help.
You must not have any interest in the Theology

Not a huge fan of Bultmann... I tend to agree with the earlier statement - if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, its probably not a hippo. When and if Q turns up, perhaps then my opinion will change.

If its the index, I believe" /rebuild index " (minus the quotes and space before the / and after the x) Beware though, this can take a substantial amount of time if you have a significant number of resources, or an older computer (or worse - both). My 3 year old computer re-indexes my library in about 30-45 minutes. I have a bit over 3000 resources

this is cool! Downloading it now.

I'm close to pushing the button and ordering L5 Silver (~$377.3 for me currently). If I knew I would also get the christmas bonus, it would be easier for this seminary student to justify the funds :).
