The higher bidders are included. So in the $10 / $20 scenario - let's say there are 50 people who have bid $20 or above - that's $1000 (at the $20 level) So now let's assume that an additional 50 people have bid only up to $10. In total that is 100 people who will pay $10 (or more) to get the title published. - but because it's only the $10 level it
-
Of course, if the content is public domain (copyright expired) then it's very open what you can do with it - although be careful because while parts of a work may be public domain, others might not - for instance any new commentary or translation of the text. KJV would be a good example of this.
-
It sounds like you're talking about fair use - http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html With some caveats, like how much of a book or article you're reproducing and for what purpose, it is permissible to distribute copyrighted content within certain limits.
-
Correct. By bidding $20 you are effectively saying that you would be happy to pay anything up to that limit

I could think of some reasons why Logos would not want to reveal exactly how much the are looking for in pre orders before moving forward with production but would it might help to mention to people or give some rough indication as to how many more bids are needed to put a title "over the edge" The "Bible Studies" by Deissman would be a good example

An considering that " The Commentary of Zacharias Ursinus on the Heidelberg Catechism" just came out of community publishing where you could have bought it for $7 and now is in prepub for $14.95 - Community Pricing is by far the cheapest way to buy individual titles. Hey Logos, how about adding a few more titles into community pricing for consideration
-
I think the single best way to get people more interested in the Community Pricing section is to significantly increase the titles listed. Because we talking mainly about public domain works (so no licensing issues) and (if I understand the process properly) no actual out of pocket expenses upfront except to have someone calculate how much they need

I had this problem with one of my machines - I went to this link https://clientservices.logos.com/update/v1/feed/logos4/stable.xml and manual downloaded and installed the most recent install.
