• Re: Liturgy of The Hours

My copy opened up to Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter, but not Ascension Thursday (which it is in some US dioceses). Looking over the presentation, my guess is that, if someone wishes to pray from the Verbum LOTH, they would do well to set up a Layout in the desktop version that would open LOTH in two windows and have another window for the Scripture

  • Re: App on Onyx Boox Nova 3

I have the Onyx Boox Nova 2 that runs Android 9.0. The Verbum mobile app looks and runs quite well on it. Onyx firmware includes optimizations that help apps like Verbum/Logos look like they were designed for E-ink. I have no idea why the OP is having trouble with his Nova 3. Other than uninstalling and reinstalling, I don't have any suggestions. It

  • Re: Liturgy of the Hours/Breviary for Verbum??

I agree as well. Universalis has figured out one way to do this. Verbum can surely find a way!

  • Re: Logos Desktop on Surface Pro X?

Logos Desktop needs good specs. The Pro X chip is nowhere near the Apple M1 in performance. To run Logos Desktop on a beta emulator on a device that reviewers call slow (except when running Edge) is not what I'd call promising. You'd probably get the performance of the original Surface Go, at best. An Intel Surface Pro would do better. I'd guess that

  • Re: More robust than a Reader but don't need a Desktop/Laptop - what are my options for Logos

Let me offer you two options - both of which I have. 1) Microsoft Surface Go 2: Get the 8gb RAM/128 GB SSD one. It has a ten inch display and runs Windows 10. You can hold it in your hand like a tablet, or attach a keyboard. You can run the desktop Verbum 9 software on it. It has a microSD card slot to expand storage if needed. 2) Onyx Boox Nova 2 or

  • Re: Is Verbum really Catholic?

Yes, it would be better if Facebook could be so customized. If enough customers request this, it may happen. (Hint, hint!!) In the meantime, you can do what I have done and set up a custom layout - or series of layouts - that will do what you want with the resources you specify. It's a little more work up front, but once done, it's well worth the time
Maybe I should wait until the 22nd actually comes around before asking, but: While the Catholic Encyclopedia is on my Desktop version (and looks great ), it isn't on the mobile version. Is it coming for that too, or was it never intended for anything other than a desktop resource?
It showed up on the Android and iOS

  • Re: M1 Mac Chip Compatibility

I'm on the Big Sur 11.1 beta. Scrolling the homepage and working with such features as Psalms Explorer is much smoother now. I mention this because some people found the homepage unusable on the M1 Mac. Looks like Apple is addressing some of these issues on their end, even if not deliberately for us!

  • Logos 9 and Big Sur 11.1 Beta (macOS)

I have just installed the more recent macOS 11.1 beta on my M1 Air. The homepage now scrolls MUCH more smoothly. Psalms Explorer works better as well. Those were areas that seemed sluggish on my M1 Mac before. Everything else is at least as smooth and quick as before.
I am now waiting for the new Mac to update before I set up migration. In the meantime, I went to the Mac App Store and noticed that the apps ARE visible under the "iPad & iPhone Apps" tab. It does say "Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS." I wonder if it can be downloaded directly. I wont know until I can sign

Yes, a new "device" has appeared! Fancy that! My desktop app works well enough, so I don't really need the iPad app on my M1 Air! However, it was interesting to see that it does work, all in all. You're right - updating the iPad app on the Air would be a pain! I can think of very few iPad apps that I have that I would actually want to run on my Air

The Verbum iPadOS app on my M1 MacBook Air. It works. This is more of a proof of concept for me. Apple's "Touch Alternatives" makes the app navigable. I haven't encountered bugs yet, with the exception that if you have two resources linked so that they scroll together, the resources appear side-to-side and part on one is not viewable. I haven't tried

I finally pulled the trigger - after thinking I'd wait - and upgraded from my i3 MacBook Air to an M1 Air. It arrived today, and I have been putting it through its paces with Verbum and other apps/software. Overall, this M1 lives up to the hype. With Verbum, everything is faster than my Intel Air except for scrolling the homepage. The homepage stutters

  • Re: John Cassian: The Institutes (Ancient Christian Writers)

A big +1 on Institutes ! It is indeed a separate book. It is very important for its witness to early monasticism and its treating of the eight principal vices or deadly thoughts - which evolved in the West into the Seven Deadly Sins.

On the other hand, if you don't need all the speed of the M1, you can get some good deals on Intel Macs these days! For example, Apple has some great prices on refurbished early 2020 MacBook Airs. I'm running Verbum 9 on one of those Airs with Big Sur and an i3 (yes, an i3) chip, and I'm satisfied with the performance. Even on the i3, Big Sur feels

I upgraded my early 2020 MacBook Air with an i3 processor to Big Sur. Everything, including Logos 9, seems a bit smoother and faster! I've seen no glitches with Logos 9 at all so far.

I'm sure that FL is quite busy with L9 and getting ready for Big Sur. Keep in mind, however, that we're now expecting FL to support an additional OS, for all intents and purposes. We are expecting them to support BOTH the current Intel-based Macs and the new M1-based Macs. Can FL do this???
