  • Re: The problem I have with upgrading...

Thanks Andy, that I had seen. My guess though is that the minimal crossgrade will lack the data sets of something like Silver, but you're right that I guess time will tell. It's a shame in a way for Logos that packages are seemingly designed to suit a certain demographic, because like when I moved to L4, the only thing that suited me was a minimal crossgrade

  • The problem I have with upgrading...

I'm on Scholar's Library, and the upgrading system seems to think a good upgrade for me would be Silver. I like the idea from the perspective of the data sets included, but there are many books included I have no interest in using- mainly ones targeted at church leaders or Catholics. If I upgrade to a 'lesser' version, I avoid having to pay for a ton

  • Re: Logos 4 Mac versus Win+Parallels...

SSDs are nice, but with a standard 5200 harddrive, L4 loaded for me in 25 seconds. I guess loading times might differ depending on a number of factors, but all-in-all, not too shabby for such a slow drive.

Well, a day or so later and 27 restarts to download all the updates (kinda odd it has to be done that way) and I'm liking L4 on the Mac. It runs quite well. But then, the newer machines are quite quick. The only real issue I've had is with maps. The zooming seems to be completely broken. On the topic of 4.3 RC-1- how does one get it?

Yeah, so far I'm seeing a lot of bugs. Plus, I think I know what people mean when they say it looks uglier than the Windows version. I think it's all the grey. I also finding the 'Windows Default' option for the background colour a little out of place ;) On the plus side, the interface seems quite snappy.

  • Re: Logos 4 Mac versus Win+Parallels...

Great, thanks for all of that. So far my Mac install of L4 has gone from downloading my resources to instantly crashing afterwards. Not a great start. But, it has relaunched seemingly successfully and is preparing my library. I'll give it a chance to at least get started ;)

  • Re: Logos 4 Mac versus Win+Parallels...

Thanks, I'm currently downloading L4 (and my resources, which I don't mind doing) for the Mac. Do you guys know if the indexing is transferable between the Mac and Windows versions?

  • Re: Logos 4 Mac versus Win+Parallels...

Thanks for the info. Loading times are no problem- I've been running L4 on an Eeepc before the Mac :) As for 3D, good question. I like how pretty it makes Win 7 look, obviously, but I also plan to run a few accelerated programs.

  • Logos 4 Mac versus Win+Parallels...

So I recently picked up a Macbook Pro (13inch, 2.3Ghz, 8gig ram), and grabbed a new copy of Windows and Parallels because I didn't realise I could download the Mac version. When I did figure that out, I thought that might be a better way to go. However, I have read L4 for Mac is... well, not so refined at this stage. I started getting L4 for Windows

  • Re: Biblical people graphics...

Thanks Graham! I did a search for a thread like that, but didn't turn up anything. Nice to know there's agreement on the topic :) Hopefully they'll make a return.

  • Biblical people graphics...

So, what happened to the nice cartoony people icons in Biblical People? I updated my desktop today and noticed I now have these... alien looking things. When did things change, and why? I really liked the old icons...

So... how to we sort out these issues, if they're as rare as they seem to be? It seems funny that my hacked together netbook install is working really well, while my desktop is now broken. Ideas?

  • Pronunciation crash...

Hi all, I'm not a frequent user of the Pronunciation feature, but I went to play the audio pronunciation of a greek word yesterday, but had L4 crash on me. I then discovered any audio playback crashed L4. I thought I'd post about it today, but a moment ago I found Lookup->Pronunciation also kills Logos. Has anyone seen this kind of issue before? I'm

  • Re: L4 on netbook?

I just installed it on my Eeepc 901 (1gig ram). Sometimes it takes 30 seconds to launch, and sometimes a few minutes. But, once it's up and running things generally happen after a 2-4 second pause. Scrolling around books is smooth, which is nice, and the whole interface is decently fast even when the cpu is underclocked via powersaving. I'm happy with

  • Re: Copying indexing between computers...

Okay, answered my own question. I copied the library and bible indexes, as well as the library catalogue over and I've saved myself hours of indexing. Hopefully I won't see any nasty surprises ;)

  • Copying indexing between computers...

I've recently installed L4 on my netbook (eeepc 901). I have it on a fairly chunky desktop too, and aside from a few issues along the way (something for another thread) things are running decently. The trouble is, I'm looking at 16 hours for indexing. I know some people here don't mind doing that kind of thing, but I'd rather avoid it if I can. Is there

  • Re: Some thanks to Logos, and Eeepc query...

Thanks David. My Eeepc is only a 1gig machine, so... if I go down the L4 route I'll have to be careful. When using L3 I generally don't run anything else at the same time.
