No Added Discount to Base Packages and Feature Sets with Logos Now?

I do not currently have Logos Now but had contacted my sales rep about possibly getting it to take advantage of the $50 coupon being offered this month. The answers to the questions I asked were somewhat disheartening, as I had been under the (apparently wrong) impression that I would be able to save money on base packages and feature sets if I became a member. Essentially what I was told was:
1. Non-members who buy a base package and feature set together "get the same discount as if you were a Logos Now member. There is no additional percentage off for Logos Now members other than the $50 coupon..."
2. I would also not be saving any money on base packages by buying Logos Now as opposed to waiting until a Christmas or other sale when base packages are usually 10% off. "The idea behind the Logos Now discount is to get you a discount when there isn't another one offered on either the library purchase or the feature set purchase."
That is not the message I got at all from the marketing Faithlife has put out. Before I heard back from my rep, it was pretty much a done deal that I was going to purchase Logos Now. After receiving the above information, I am really questioning the mantra of "membership that pays for itself."
For those who are members, have you found that the membership really did "pay for itself"? I do not care about access to the website, exclusive features, preview resources, etc., but am strictly looking at it in terms of a financial proposition. I am not likely to buy the Mobile Ed courses that are discounted or the resources that are slightly discounted each month. I had thought the way a my subscription might "pay for itself" was primarily through savings on base packages, but now I feel like the only way it will "pay for itself" is if Faithlife offers additional coupons such as the one available this month, but of course there is no guarantee that this will happen. Please advise.

Mathew, the Now member benefits page does say that the discounts apply to packages or feature sets when purchased separately.
Not sure about point 2, but when I purchased a new package before the Logos 7 discount disappeared, I did get an extra 10% discount added on. I think someone from Faithlife will have to weigh in. It's possible the sales rep. was misinformed.

Mark,
Thanks for the reply. Faithlife offers a 10% discount on base packages and a 25% discount on feature sets when bought together, even by non-members. I had thought (incorrectly) that Logos Now offered members a percentage discount off the price that non-members paid, but it seems that all it does is offer the same discount, just without having to purchase both together. Those are two very different ideas. Maybe it is my fault for misunderstanding, but it seems like that could be made a little more clear by Faithlife's marketing team.

I can't offer any reliable info. I do know that there are discounts for LN members. I don't know what those discounts are... I only know what "my price" is based on the various discounts I qualify for (i.e. LN, Academic). I <think> there is a discount for LN members to purchase the feature sets...

Here is a good breakdown of the different (LN) discounts (which was posted back when introductory pricing was in effect).
One of the considerations you should make is whether you want to rent or own a feature set.
- Subscribing to Logos Now lets you rent the features and tools
- Buying a base package (which is a library and a feature set) lets you own the features and tools
While there are other benefits of Logos Now, you'd save the most if you rented the feature set, and bought a library (resources) instead of a base package. This is where the LN savings would kick in.
While the sales rep is correct that the year-round LN 10% library discount is similar to a non-LN member getting 10% off during specific library sales, combined discounts have generally let LN members save an extra 5% or more.

Subscribing to LN and also buying a base package is the equivalent of both renting and owning the features.

Alabama and Petah,
Thanks for your replies, and sorry it took me a few days to get back to you. Looking at the info in that link, it does appear that when Logos 7 first came out the Logos Now discount did in fact stack with the launch discount for "a little over 23% off your Dynamic price" of a'la carte library purchases. This being the case, it seems that if the goal is to have membership "pay for itself," the best time to be a member is when a new version is launched, which will probably not be at least for another year and a half. Still, by using the $50 coupon available this month, membership would halfway pay for itself right now, and holiday offers might come close to making the rest up. I am am still on the fence (with just over a week to make a decision), but I at least feel like I am going into the decision with a better understanding of what discounts I may or may not get. Thanks everyone for all the help!

There's now a Tough Topics sale, which includes a 10% discount on L7.
Depending on which library and/or course you got, that new discount may save you even more over the price of the library itself, or at least break even and come away with a "free" course.

Can anyone confirm whether this discount can be combined with the 10% off offered by Logos Now? I asked my rep but am waiting to hear back. If it does, then I between that and the $50 coupon I could definitely make the subscription pay for itself immediately.

Yes, it does. It doesn't show up in the cart description, but the combo discount ends up saving you another 10% off your LN price.

PetahChristian,
Unfortunately, we had a brief configuration issue with the discount which you must have seen when you checked - the Tough Topics base package discount does not stack with the Now Member discount. I apologize for the mistake and for the confusion.

Ah, I had already bought a library which had given me 10% off in addition to the LN discount. If that's a problem for the company, you can have someone cancel the order, and I can wait for libraries to go on sale in general, down the road.
Sorry to the OP for the bad information!

No need for you to apologize! That was our mistake.
Early bird got the worm, no need to cancel your order. [:)]
But I really appreciate your grace and understanding. We expect more from ourselves, but mistakes do happen - thank you Petah!
