Hi ... and thank you!
I've seen and accomplished the manual instructions for "New Windows option in 7.9 to make Logos faster"
... but per the 7.10 release notes do not see where there is a an option for "(Windows only) Added a new command to the Command Bar to turn on and off the new Windows option."
Am I supposed to see a new text link or button that now does this automatically?
OK. Further research shows me that I'm supposed to type, into the "Command Bar" input field, "Set use Ngen to Yes" ... thank you for adding feature!

Kevin,
It means you can type the command into the Command Bar within the app (it's in the toolbar) to turn it on or off. You don't have to do that outside of the application. The command is Set use Ngen to yes.
Thank you so much for this update.
I was able to set ngen to yes.
What I'm having difficulty with is finding how to pin the Concordance in the History menu.
That option doesn't appear for me when I right click the Concordance reference in History.
Thanks,
Paul L. White
PS Here is what the Log file noted for this particular update:

I'm getting error messages when I post. But then the message goes through.
I'm going to try and upload my screen grab of the attempt to pin the Concordance to History.
Salute!
Paul
PS I do realize that in the Log file there was some confusion during the initial install of Logos on this machine, as my technician had copied files from my personal directory on the previous machine, and there may have been some overwriting when I did the first install on this one.
I will try to update on my laptop, and see if the situation is the same. Thanks.
PSS I just now updated the Logos on my Laptop, and it has the same situation. There is no way I can see to pin the Concordance to the history list. Not by right clicking, anyway Blessings.

You should be able to hover your cursor over the "pin" icon and click it. Does that work for you?
Hi Mr. Criddle,
I'm sorry but my History list doesn't show any "Pin" icons...none at all...neither on the Dell PC, nor on the HP Laptop. Both are running Windows 7 OS 64-Bit.
Here is the series of steps I took regarding this and another issue:
After updating Logos on my Laptop, I tried the History List, and no ability to pin there either. However, with the Laptop version there was the additional problem of not being able to Set Us NGEN to Yes. There *was* that option on the PC install of Logos. All the Laptop version does is try to do a search of your resources for that phrase (on the Command Line).
I wondered if maybe the .Net 47 version was installed on the Laptop, and downloaded the install of it per a link in the Beta discussions of this new version. The Laptop wanted to do a repair of that file, so I did so. It did *not* request a reboot.
Which made me curious, so I ran that .Net 47 install on my Dell PC, and it also asked if I wanted to repair, so I said "yes." After it did so, it *did* ask for a reboot of my machine.
After I rebooted, and gave the machine some time, Logos tried to load twice (I may have clicked the icon once too many times??), and hung up. So I deleted it from memory, then opened it again. I think maybe the bootup process may not have been totally complete at first, I don't know.
The situation is the same with my PC: I can Set the NGEN use to Yes or No in the command line, and no pin buttons for History list. My history list doesn't look exactly like yours, thus the pic I uploaded earlier.
I rebooted the Laptop anyway, just for grins, and then opened Logos, and it did seem to be slower, but it opened. No ability to set the ngen in the command box. So I closed the software, and used the manual .cmd file to open it with NGEN like we did prior to this new update.
Last techy note: I do a registry clean after any software install update, and the Laptop had no errors that I could see in the registry re: the install, but the Dell PC did. Mostly the Registry couldn't find the Updater.exe file that had been put in it.
I will attach the Log files from the Laptop on *this* post. Those looked more "normal" than on the PC. The error file I uploaded in a previous comment here was the only new one on the PC, except for CEF, which I presumed wasn't pertinent to these issues.
Phew! Time to go to bed. Hope y'all can figure this out. Blessings.
I'm sorry but my History list doesn't show any "Pin" icons.
Confusion over Histories
Your screenshot shows you are using the History Tool - outlined in red below - whereas you need to be using the panel history in the Concordance Tool - outlined in blue below
Try the one in the Concordance Tool and see how you get on

Could someone explain the benefit of being able to copy and paste from the media into the sermon document? Perhaps I am missing something, but if you preach from Word it does not show the slide anyway in that document and if you preach from the sermon editor document, it does not show the slide there. So I am not sure what is the benefit, especially when you can right click on the media in your search and send it directly to Proclaim. I just am not seeing the benefit, but perhaps I am missing something.
Also, when I select a word in my Greek Bible and hit enter it does not pronounce the word. Is it only tagged to a certain version of the GNT or am a I missing something there as well? Thanks!
I was using it earlier this week and found it very useful.
I wanted to be able to show that different versions have pericope breaks in different places in a particular passage so set up a "multiple view" on a resource to show three Bibles together. I took a screenshot of the resulting panel and saved it as a file which I then upoladed into the Media Tool.
I then imported it into my Sermon document so it appears in the right place in the sermon - and will then appear in either the PowerPoint export or in Proclaim.
You are right that you can send a piece of media directly to Proclaim but this approach allows it to be properly integrated into the sermon
While, in this case, this was a piece of media I created a similar principle would apply for media that was already in the system.
The change in this release relates to the Pronunciation Tool not Bibles.

But that is part of my point. I you add a media into proclaim, I understand that it puts it in the correct place in the document, but that slide does not show in your sermon document anyway. It does in the editor, but when you open the file on your tablet through the app, it does not show the slides anyhow. I export from my sermon editor to Word and the slide isn't going to show there either. Some screen shots may be helpful for me since I believe that I am probably just missing something.
As far as the Pronounce tool; the Greek and Hebrew are Bibles. That is the only Pronounce tool I know about.

No you are not missing anything - slides don't currently show on the mobile app.
This is discussed - among other threads - at https://community.logos.com/forums/p/147927/928819.aspx
There is also a Pronunciation Tool
giving information such as
It is this that is referred to in the release notes

That is my question, Graham, I do not see the benefit of that feature then. I would like to know if there is some way that you could explain to me how you use it and to what benefit it is; with screen shots is possible. Thanks!
I don’t personally use it - just trying to explain what the Release Notes are referring to.
Apologies if I am causing confusion here!

Perhaps the confusion is being caused by me. I was referring to copy and paste of the media into sermon editor. You said earlier that you had used it and found it useful; so I am asking for clarification on that. Sorry if I mislead you as to which part of your response I was referring.
I'm very disappointed on this:
This is not what we specifically requested. We wanted the ability to insert pictures/copy paste them into the sermon document and have Zoom in and Zoom out capability to present from the actual sermon document.
This so called new feature really does nothing. I can paste images from anywhere to my power point presentation, but that's not what we need.
It seems like Logos/FL has problems communicating and comprehending communication from others. This new feature is totally useless because it does something that we can actually do ourselves.
PLEASE READ THIS LINK http://community.logos.com/forums/p/146645/912253.aspx#912253 and if you have any questions, please, please, ask. That way we users can tell you exactly what we want. This add pictures as new slides we can do ourselves, is nothing new.
Sorry if this comes across as if I'm angry, I'm not, I'm just disappointed. We were told the actual feature we requested was coming, but then something else was given. Unless you will release exactly what we want and requested in the future, then let us know, but this new release is not what we asked for.
Thanks!

EXACTLY! This is what I'm talking about! I just went back and read the thread and found someone has similar sentiments about this copy and paste images. Is not what we asked for.
You can read what we actually requested here: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/146645/912253.aspx#912253
Thank you! I'm not the only one!
This update has done something with the Personal Book Builder (Mac), were books, which before compiled just fine, are not compiling.
Errors are of the following flavor:
"[Error] Article 'A_UNKNOWN' has no content; articles cannot be empty."
shure you don't Change your Word Document. This is normaly the case If you chnage something where the Heading is involved (like Change Side)
if you preach from Word it does not show the slide anyway in that document
I am not using the Sermon Editor much because it adds more complexity to my process than using Word. (I'm sure if I used it more, it would become more familiar). But as to "what is the benefit of pasting from media into a sermon document?" My habits with Word may give an indication. I preach from a very detailed outline prepared in Word. Then I create my PPT presentation, then I copy and paste snapshots from PPT into my Word document. Then I print a copy of my Word Doc for my projectionist. This shows him/her what I expect to be on the screen as I proceed through my sermon and I don't have to say "next slide" nor do I have to manually advance the slides through a remote. This is especially helpful when I am guest preaching and the church where I am visiting does not use Proclaim. Whatever projection system that other church uses--they can just import my PPT presentation into their software and the projectionist can follow the script and know when to advance the slides. (see photo below of a sample from one of my sermon files (saved in Logos as a Personal Book)
Proclaim may be great for collaboration within one context, but standardized formats are helpful when guest speaking and dealing with volunteers. I save my PPT to a thumbdrive and a public online folder so that when I arrive at a church (or a few days before I preach) I can email a link. That church can easily download or import my visuals into their presentation system regardless of PC platform (PC/MAc) or their preferred presentation software.
I see the value of Logos/Proclaim in a closed ecosystem, but my network of speaking opportunities demands standardized formats. Anything I do in Logos (including Sermon Editor) that can't be exported to Print or Microsoft Office programs becomes SIGNIFICANTLY less valuable.

Understood - but worth pointing out that from within the Sermon Editor you can print the text of a sermon (although it doesn't include slides which is an issue) and can directly export slides to PowerPoint
So, I think, the issue you are outlining is the inability to include slides / images within the body of a Sermon Document. Is that fair?
Yes Graham, that is a fair summary. I got a little verbose about some of my workflow which is not important to this thread. I was trying to answer Pastor Huffman's question about why people would want to import media into their notes.
