I have a resource that is behaving buggy. Where is the best way to report it so they will repair it quickly?FWIW, it is a textbook that is not Print-->Copy to clipboard as designed.
First, name the work and give us the resource information at the bottom on the resource panel.Second, post a screen shot of what is going wrong using in paper-clip icon to upload it.
Then someone on the forum can test to see if it is a problem with the resource or with your copy of the resource. If the latter, then we can tell you how to get a good copy of the resource. If the former, we can tell you what heading to use to report the problem and make sure the right person sees it.
Resource is:Gibbs, C., McGhee, Q., & Teague, W. (2006). Introduction to Hermeneutics: How to Interpret the Bible : An independent-study textbook (Second Edition.). Springfield, MO: Global University.Issue is:When using Print/Export in order to SelectAll of a chapter on the left then selecting Copy to clipboard on the right side, the designated selection does not copy and paste appropriately-- usually not at all.
Print/Export shot:
Shot of ENTIRETY of resulting copy:
Length of excerpt cannot be the issue. This excerpt is far under the limit placed on this feature (up to 100 pages). I have successfully copied far longer excerpts from other resources than the excerpt I am trying to copy. Thanks!
Ugh! Sorry about that. First time using paperclip I think. Hopefully still makes sense.
i did a 31 page copy from that resource and it worked fine.
You might try running an "Update Resources" command from the GO box.
I finally recreated the problem although I can't tell you exactly what is wrong. Some sections copied with no problems. Other sections would drop part of the selection when I tried to preserve the original formatting but would copy everything if I pasted with text only. That tells me that the book contains some formatting that is not supported by Word. You may make a post with KYLE in the title and point him to this thread. But I suspect this is unlikely to get swift action.
Exactly. Something's buggy. FWIW, I didn't use Word, just the clipboard and then pasted to Notepad.KWhat forum to post it in? And what or who is KYLE?
No, it is not necessarily a bug. It is simply that book resources can use features that are not supported by Word ... highlighting styles are often an example. For Word to support the feature one has to turn it into an image. Notepad would be worse, much worse, than Word about not supporting features. Post in Logos 8; KYLE is the person in charge of resource production.
If you have logging enabled, does the following appear in your log when this problem occurs?
ERROR 1 LogosDisplayElement | Extent does not contain selection.
If so, this is most likely the same as a bug we've logged internally; I'll add a link to this thread to the case.
Unfortunately, I don't know if there are any good workarounds except for selecting text in the resource panel and pressing Ctrl+C to copy it to the clipboard (which might take a while for a long selection).
Notepad would be worse
Notepad works best for my purposes. I have no need for formatting. I simply want to copy and paste chapters of the text and it is not doing so.I am going to post a KYLE thread now.
I can reproduce this problem and have filed a bug report.
