Status of your Wordsearch Library

We've created a page that shows the progress of your personal Wordsearch library being migrated to Logos: https://www.logos.com/wordsearch/library-migration
- Available means that the resource has been unlocked to your account and should download to Logos 8. It does not mean that a product page exists on logos.com for Logos users to buy this book yet. It does not mean that this is the final version of the resource; we're upgrading the edition of many of these resources from Ebook to Logos Reader or Logos Research: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/193938.aspx
- In Progress means that a Logos Resource ID has been identified or created and aligned with the Wordsearch title, but no file is available yet. It may still be on Community Pricing or Pre-Pub (but you will get it for free when it's available).
- Not Started means that that alignment hasn't happened yet, but we have a record of your ownership.
As of Sep 21, not all licenses have been loaded into our system yet, so some of your Wordsearch titles may be missing from the list. For now, please be patient, wait a day or two, and check back. We'll update this post when we believe that everyone's licenses are loaded into our system.
Some Book IDs may show up as "Unknown" in the list. This means that we're still updating our resource system with information from Wordsearch's system; those should be replaced by real titles in the near future.
Finally, we also have a list of all known Wordsearch titles (not filtered by your ownership) if you would like to see the status of any particular book: https://www.logos.com/wordsearch/catalog

Thanks Bradley! This is extremely helpful to see this!
It is interesting that titles tagged as "available" to me will display in the Logos web app, but if I try to open in the software, it says I do not own a license to this resource. I'll just be patient and keep checking back. Thanks again.

If they show up in the Library in Logos 8 (desktop) then you do have a license for them. Perhaps they've been configured as "Cloud Resources" and not downloaded to your computer? You can filter the Library to resources not on this computer, Select All, then download them (from the Info Panel in the Library).
See https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025106492-Select-Which-Library-Resources-to-Download for more training on how to use Cloud Resources (which is a way to save disk space if you don't want everything downloaded locally).

Thanks for the reply, Bradley, but Logos 8 is not indicating I have resources on that are not on my hard drive. You said that if a resource is tagged "Available," it should download, right? I executed the Update Now command, but it said there is nothing to download.

None of mine are loaded in yet.

Just to confirm: they're shown as "Available" on the library migration page, you can access them in the web app, your Library in Logos 8 shows them downloaded, but when you open them in Logos 8 it says you don't have a license?
I'm not sure what would be causing that, so I'll have to follow up with the teams tomorrow.

That's not exactly what I'm seeing tonight, but close. I can open newly "available" ebooks in the web app, but clicking the "open in Verbum" button that pops up causes Verbum 8 desktop to tell me I don't have a license:

Nor mine Nathan. Hopefully they won’t be long.

I was seeing this behavior with the newly "available" ebooks last night, but they downloaded overnight, and are accessible now on the desktop.

Bradley, I'm just seeing 'You have no resources imported from Wordsearch' on the migration page. I communicated my Wordsearch email details to customer services and got confirmation that it had been associated to my Logos account on the 19th September. I assume it's just a matter of waiting for things to update?

Dave try typing "update now" in the command box.

I'm in the same boat as Dave. Multiple "update now" commands haven't changed anything. It's not urgent for me. I'll keep using WS and just check back over the next few days to see if/when my library appears.

When I go to this page I get a totally different result. I get "You have no resources imported from Wordsearch." So what does that mean? Should I be concerned? And what should I do? I feel like I am getting a mixed message when I am told to be patient. I am told again and again that most of my resources should already be available (but none of them are), and that all of them should be within days. I got a personal note saying that my name was not in the first batch sent over so my licenses haven't been started yet. Still, I feel it is a mixed messages, especially in light of the below quoted forum note. None of the messages apply to me. I didn't get any of them. Please can someone give me a clear and not a mixed message about where my resources are?

It means what I posted here: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/193925/1118016.aspx#1118016
Sorry to bring some disappointing news, but we haven't loaded your Wordsearch licenses into our system yet. (They ended up coming to us in multiple batches, and yours weren't in the first batch.) We're working hard to resolve this as quickly as possible; thanks for your patience.
Kathleen said:Should I be concerned? And what should I do?
No, don't be concerned. Your licenses will be loaded into our system soon. Until then, there's nothing to do but wait, sorry.
Kathleen said:I feel like I am getting a mixed message when I am told to be patient. I am told again and again that most of my resources should already be available (but none of them are), and that all of them should be within days.
Yes, that was a mixed message, and we apologise for the confusion. We did not realise (when we sent out the first email) that we would be receiving user licenses in several batches. If we had known that, we would have phrased the email differently.
Now that they are coming to us in separate batches, it is just taking a little longer for us to import them than we expected, but I do still anticipate it happening within the next couple of days.

Bradley, yes, they show as Available on the migration page, and yes, they show up in the web app, but no, Logos 8 does not show them as downloaded.
When I click on Available on the migration page, it opens in the web app, then I get a pop-up window that asks if I want to open in on L8, and when I click yes, it goes to the software and launches a tab that says I do not have a license to this resource.
So this is confusing me as to what "unlocked" actually means if I can see it on one platform but not another.

Hi Graham, it did not. It said it found nothing to update. I have received a few WS titles (about 25), but my WS library was over 500 titles. I'm seeing a lot of them on the web app now, but not sure how to get them on the L8 software platform.

My Apps are not transitioning or being updated online or in the desktop app. Not like this at all
Plus I am missing book from the list that I own and already paid for them. If I have to pay for them again I'd rather go to Tecarta or Olive Tree.

Have you checked the page - https://www.logos.com/wordsearch/library-migration - Bradley mentioned in the first post in this thread? If so, what is the status of the resources you are not seeing.
My understanding is that you will not be expected to pay for these again - but it is taking some time to get all the resources migrated for everyone

I understand that, but NIV Bible is not listed or showing up. Same with my Bible Exposition commentaries. Also, My Life Application owned products are in "transition" but are not showing up or available for use up.
These are the easy ones to "convert" or should be because of popularity and use.
At this point I absolutely hate Logos and have nothing good to say about the product. And I can't even use the way I like through the web interface, I set it up last night and nothing was saved, so I have to do it all over again. Seems like it is going to be a daily thing... and 5 gb disk storage for my desktop is excessive.

I understand your frustrations. It IS a STEEP learning curve from WS to Logos. It does have a big footprint (I'm around 100gb with ~15000 + titles). But the learning curve, and the footprint are worth it in the long run. I go to one of the six baptist seminaries and for a while they gave me wordsearch free (starting I think v9). But even so, I used logos more because of the scope of what it can do.
I don't really use the web app too much, other than for beta testing things here or there. But I do use the program on my laptop where I can save layouts, and use those to pick up where I left off. the web app and desktop app are closer to parity than they've ever been so it wouldn't surprise me if there was a way to do this on the web app also.
I guess what I'm getting at is this: take heart, you'll get there, and when you do, it will be well worth it. It was for me any way.
Part of the thing I like best is the community here in the forums, and the depth of knowledge that you can poll by making a thread. Anything you're struggling with RE L8, someone else has already figured out and can guide you through.
Plus the Morris Proctor training thats being given away, thats huge and highly recommended!L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,

Alan, are you not able to continue to use Wordsearch while you are in the middle of this transition? My understanding was that you'd be able to do so indefinitely. It seems that would be a good approach until everything you are concerned about gets straightened out.
Faithlife will be the first to tell you that this has been a major task for them, that they've have had to wait unexpectedly on Lifeway to get everyone's licenses, and that they would have loved to have had more lead time to get everything ready, but the announcement of the sale was going to be made, so they had to get as much done as they could in the short time available.
I do believe once everything is ironed out that you will have a positive Logos experience. If not, you'll still be able to use Wordsearch for some time after which you'll have to either choose to use Logos or lose your Wordsearch investment and use something else.

Thank you for the help and suggestion. Yes, I can continue to use Wordsearch... however it is essentially gone. So I am willing to try Logos and give a fair shake, except I cannot get it to do what I want (Fail), I cannot get it to keep my desktop or web browser setup (Fail). I am missing books I already own, which may or may not show up someday (Fail).
When I called tech support for some of these issues, they told me to watch the videos, which I did (Fail) and now while trying to use it, I don't have the books I need for my daily study and video production available in Logos. What Logos should have done when I called is said we’ll get you the NIV Bible since you already own it in Wordsearch, that would have gone a long way… instead I was told to watch “videos” to solve the problem. so now I am using online bibles, my Kindle, Wordsearch and attempting Logos to do what I could do yesterday in a single program.
I am willing to transition over to Logos (and trying to do so), but it needs to have the books I need and use daily, for today, and it needs to open the way I set it up previously for my use. I cannot do either one. Sadly, it opens up to a screen that is mostly advertisements, I can close them, but to me it is overkill.
Sure, I can use Wordsearch, but I then am not learning or using this so-called “great” software. They were a sponsor for the NACC (North American Christian Convention) every year and had teaching/selling sessions for the software, which I attended, I never purchased it because the options that I liked and would use are beyond what I was willing to spend… still are. I am at the point of paying for Accordance or Olive Tree. Are they better? I don’t know, but I already use Olive Tree on mobile devices, and it works.
Logos bothers me because of the cost and the hard sell for products is something I don’t need or want from a company. In fact, today, the tech support guy tried to sell me more books. Right now, it seems to be a memory hog, taking up 7.91 Gb physical memory.

If you click on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner (what is nicknamed by users as the "kabob") and click on Program Settings. You should get an option to set the "open to". For my purpose I set it to "most recent layout" I use 2 Logos on 2 computers and I have one set to "most recent layout - any" so it looks at both computers and opens the most recent. I have the other computer set to "most recent layout - local" so that it opens to the last layout I used on that computer. Hopefully a "win" in this matter will give you encouragement to keep plodding forward

Alan - you can also limit, and pretty much get rid of the in app marketing blurbs. I do. Mine opens to a basically blank page with my prayer requests list, and the sundry communications from my seminary at the top.
I can't post a screen shot at the moment. But for the most part, everything you want to do can be done. NIV84 has a complicated past with Logos which may be the situation there. It was in logos, and then no longer sold, but you could buy the anglicized version, and then now this.
I'm sure they will get things worked out though.L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,

Alan, I regret that Customer Service was no help to you. Usually they are very helpful. I suspect this is new and a bit confusing to them. They've never handled a transition like this before. I imagine they will get better as time goes on.
Alan Lamb said: I cannot get it to keep my desktop or web browser setup (Fail).
Alan Lamb said:it needs to open the way I set it up previously for my use.
If you go into the Program Settings Menu (under tools). The first line says "On startup open to" I suspect it currently says "Home". Change that to "Most recent layout - local." This will replicate what you are used to in Wordsearch.
To save a different layout to be used later, you need to go to the Layouts icon to the upper right of the main Logos page, click on it, and choose "Save as Named layout". Give it a name and it will show in the left hand column of that menu. You can open it up at any time from that menu. You can also see a number of previous layouts (Snapshots) (porbably including the one you lost) in the right hand column. Click on it to open it, give it a name, and it will always be in the LH column for future use.
On app.logos.com, if it opens to the Home Page (ads as you call them), click on the home button in the upper left (or click on the blue Logos icon). It will show you the last layout you used. Unfortunately there is not a way to save layout using the app. It will only remember the last one you used.
Alan Lamb said:when I called is said we’ll get you the NIV Bible since you already own it in Wordsearch
The NIV Bible is curious since Faithlife sells it.
Alan Lamb said:Right now, it seems to be a memory hog, taking up 7.91 Gb physical memory.
Memory or disc space? My Logos is taking up less than 1 Gb of memory but a whole lot of Gbs of disk space. (When Logos is indexing it will take as much memory as it can, but that is temporary.)

We're importing another batch of Wordsearch licenses today, and I see both NIV84 and NIV2011 on your account in that batch. I anticipate this being done in 1-2 days. Please check https://www.logos.com/wordsearch/library-migration for the status of your library to see when those licenses become available.

Memory Space. I keep getting indexing messages also, so that maybe the problem. But if I keep seeing them tomorrow, then will have to try a different solution.

Logos will use as much memory as it can get when indexing. Mine has used up to 15 Gb when I had that available. Obviously, that slows everything else down.
There is a setting in Program Settings that allows you to specify when Logos downloads new resources. Look under the Internet section. Some folks limit their downloads to a time they are least likely to want to use Logos or their computer. (Of course your computer would need to be running during the time you specify.)
Usually after an initial long indexing time subsequent small additions to one's library are incorporated rather quickly.

I wish I were at least in the third section, so I had some reassurance that I would be getting my library, but I have been told more than once that it will be coming, in spite of the fact that I don't even get "not started" when I go to this page. I'm still trying to be patient through yet another day of waiting. I'm trying to use the time to learn my way around Logos, but it isn't so much fun when I don't even have my Bible to use. Still, I'm waiting and working on my patience muscles.

I will throw my name into the ring of having zero resources transferred as of right now when I click on the library-migration page. I have something like 619 resources in Wordsearch from the past 15-20 years so I can't wait for them to get transferred.

Hi. So far the page says that I have no Wordsearch titles in my library. Is it possible for you to check my email address and confirm that I do in fact have titles that will eventually be loaded into my library? I don’t mind waiting for it to happen, but it would be comforting to hear that I am in the system and that my library will be coming at some point.
Thanks so much,

Sure its a big job but there's also a lot of investment over the years. Be useful to have a realistic timeline.

You are in the system. It looks like you should have licenses on your account, because they were in the first batch (but nothing is showing up). I don't know why that is, but I'll have the team look into it. We do have your licenses, so we will eventually get them to you. (They may come over automatically when we process the latest batch, but if they don't we'll look into it further.)
