FL Unfinished Business

FL is an amazing company and with the purchase of WordSearch I believe it is even more formidable. For this reason I believe the company can deliver on several projects that have gone limp. I list them in no particular order of importance as for me they all have popular support in this forums and I would surmise with customers at large. I offer some context by including some relevant threads. I hope this post will reignite interest in these all but abandoned projects.

I hope this post will reignite interest in these all but abandoned projects.

Good list, and many years involved. I remember the Samaritan magically showed up with the big BW push (up from Jericho, if I remember).

I wonder about Tov, and hebrew in general. Do they still have the expertise, especially after flaming out with Tov. But in-depth criticism books in general tend to be avoided by Logos. I was reading a review on Amazon, listing the top 3 for the greek NT. Logos didn't have any ... its sole participant was over a century ago.

My recollection was that Cliff Kvidahl unearthed the French original after a long search odyssey, but the obscure French publisher, who still holds the copyrights, refused to allow the translation. This closes the case until Spicq's works fall into the public domain (in 2063, if no changes to the rules are made).

Regarding Spicq's Hebrews commentary, the publisher at the time—Gabalda—was rather difficult to get on the same page with. However, since then the rights of Spicq's Hebrews, and all of Gabalda's catalog, have been purchased by Peeters. So, now there is a whole new conversation to be had with a different publisher, who to my knowledge is very approachable and may be willing to work with Logos.

I would reach out to Phil Gons and see if you could convince him to have the conversation with Peeters.

It seem that Faithlife is making an effort to bring forward the French language section (it seems there's a new employee dedicated to that language, who posted a lot in the French language subforum). Makes sense to bring on this French original - and maybe some others from the same bucket - and of course have a translation, if at all possible.
