Link NA28 Apparatus to Manuscripts of the Greek New Testament

As the topic says. Please link the manuscript variants listed in the NA28 apparatus to the Manuscripts of the Greek New Testament feature, so when I click the manuscript variant in the NA28 apparatus I have the option to go to (or just bring/link me to) the variant passage and manuscript in the Manuscripts of the GNT feature directly and view the image of the manuscript, instead of manually searching for it. Just like when double-clicking Greek words in any GNT will open a new tab to a lexicon of my choice directly to the word definition instead of manually opening a lexicon and searching for the desired word. This makes all the difference.

Not sure if this is already a feature, or if it is even feasible if not already included, but to be able to see the images of the manuscripts variants with 2 clicks would be a massive increase in quality of life.

Linking to Manuscripts of the Greek New Testament is possible from the NA28 apparatus, given proper licensing. To confirm, with the NA28 apparatus open, click the Factbook Icon (book with a check mark) in the resource window. If you have the proper licensing, thin blue underlines will appear under manuscript sigla and also words that have been lemmatized.

Hover a manuscript sigla (below I hovered "565"), and you should see something like:

If you right-click the sigla, you should see a context menu sort of like this. (Excuse the two "GNTMSS" in this image, on my installation one is English and one is German. You'll probably only have one.)

On the left half of the menu, make sure "Greek New Testament Manuscript..." is selected. Then click the "GNTMSS" on the right side under "Look up". This should open the Manuscripts of the Greek New Testament resource to the selected manuscript.

For manuscripts with links to images at the NTVMR, you'll need to scroll (sorry, no way to avoid that at present) down the list to find a link to the manuscript page. Alternately, Control+F and begin to type the reference to do a 'find' for the page you're looking for. From there, if you have an account with the NTVMR that allows it, you should be able to see manuscript images.

You should be able to do this with the UBS 4 and 5 apparatuses, NA27 and 28 apparatuses, Tischendorf, Tregelles, Tyndale House GNT, Comfort, NET Bible notes (first edition), Alford, and maybe a few others I'm forgetting. Oh, it should also work for LXX apparatuses (including most Göttingen volumes), though there are not nearly as many image links for LXX manuscripts (basically just Vaticanus and Sinaiticus IIRC).

Thanks for the fast response. Yes that's better, but I hope the scrolling would be avoided in the future. But this is acceptable at present, it's like getting sent to BDAG to the starting letter of choice, it's a start, but definitely can be improved!

If you're willing to work in an inverse direction (and have the English "Manuscripts of the Greek New Testament" resource), you can:

1. Click the search button in the resource window

2. Make sure the range is set to "Sentence" (or "Paragraph" will work here too)

3. Search for a reference (like: bible:Mark 3:8)

4. Results display in window. You'll find all the pages with an image referenced at that reference; the apparatus edition links to the side will (if you have the resource) display the exact context on hover and hop to the exact spot in the apparatus resource. It's almost like using the manuscripts resource for a meta-apparatus.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work with the localized versions of the resource because they don't yet have apparatus links, and only English at present indexes document levels like "sentence" and "paragraph".

Yes, that is really helpful. And yes, I have the English MSSGNT resource and NTVMR is kind enough to verify my account and allow me to view restricted images even though I am only an individual engaged in self-study and not under any school or institution.
