Upgrading to Logos 8

Logos 8 is here. If you already own a base package, you qualify for a Logos 8 upgrade at a special custom upgrade price.

If you’re newer to upgrading, you may have some misconceptions about what it is and how it works. Keep reading to get the facts.

Upgrading Facts

You don’t lose anything when you upgrade. When you upgrade to Logos 8, you’re not trading in your current package and library for a new one. What you’ve already purchased is yours for life. Upgrading adds features and books on top of all the features and books you already have.
You don’t repurchase anything you already own when you upgrade. No matter what package you choose to upgrade to, it will contain features and books your current base package already has. But don’t worry. We always calculate a custom upgrade price for you by taking into consideration everything you already have and deducting that from the total purchase price.
We don’t have special upgrade packages. We don’t have separate packages for first-time purchasers and upgraders. Instead, we generate a custom upgrade price for you based on what you already own and what new licenses you’ll acquire.
You don’t have to choose the same package level you already have. If you own Logos 7 Gold, Logos 8 Gold might be the right upgrade for you. But there’s no reason you have to choose that package. You can move up to a higher package or down to a lower package, based on which package has the features and books you want at a price you can afford. Remember, whichever package you buy only adds to everything you already have. You won’t lose anything regardless of which package you choose.
You don’t have to choose only one package. Because we charge you only for the new features and books in the package you buy, you can safely purchase multiple packages without fear of overpaying or double purchasing. To make sure you get the best deal, you’ll want to buy one package per transaction—or reach out to our sales team (sales@logos.com or 888-875-9491) and let them help you do it all at once.
You don’t have to buy a package with additional books. The new Logos 8 libraries are the best we’ve ever built and offered, but we understand that not everyone is looking to grow their libraries with new titles. That’s why we have upgrade options available that include only the new features and datasets to help you get just the latest functionality of Logos 8.
You don’t have to buy separate upgrades for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, or the web. Your one license gives you the ability to access your tools and content on any of our apps.
You don’t have to upgrade. A free basic version of Logos 8 will be available in early 2019, and if you’re not interested in the new features or resources we’ve added to our Logos 8 packages or don’t have the budget to upgrade right now, you can pick up the free update in a few months. You can always decide after that to upgrade your features, library, or both.

It is saying the bonus offers will be given to people who purchase the upgrade during the launch. In other words, if you wait, you might not get the offers.

I would argue that "exclusive to Logos 8 owners" would imply that you should NOT return your upgrade!

I upgraded to Logos 8 Silver today. Once the upgrade had installed and all library updates/indexing were finished, I checked my About box, and it doesn't recognize I have Silver. It just says "Logos 8 Library" -- this is different from past versions. Is it an intentional change? I liked when we could look up what base package we had in the About box.

I can see options to purchase the feature-set alone or a feature-set and library, but can't see any way to purchase just a new Logos 8 library without feature set. (I'm not aware of using previous feature-sets, so there is no point in paying for new ones when I could put that money to getting a larger library).

You’ve probably been using parts of previous feature sets. In L8, Canvas, Theology Guide and Workflows are all features that are part of a paid-for feature set (there are others, those are the highlights).

If you’re a Connec subscriber you can purchase the Library only (because you already have the features as part of the subscription). But otherwise you’d be missing out on most of the best parts of L8.

Just a quick note on this - I am a Connect subscriber, and I wanted to upgrade from L7 Platinum to L8 Portfolio. Buying the library and datasets turned out to be much cheaper (I saved a couple of hundred dollars) than buying the library alone because of the extra sale discount I qualified for.

Obviously that's going to vary depending on what you own already and what you choose to buy, but do play around with options to check prices.

Something is not correct about your analysis as you should get the full discount as a FL Connect subscriber without purchasing the full feature set. I suggest you contact customer support via chat or phone to have them review your purchase.

Yes. If you haven't purchased an L8 package yet, you won't see the savings. Once you do, the prices will change to show the savings for L8 owners.

I just upgraded, have not been able to check features fully. I did notice that the daily excerpt from the "lives of saints" for the day is missing from the homepage.

Is there a way to put that and the lectionary info back again in the homepage?

I initially assumed that these were one and the same, but upon reading the offer again I began to second guess that assumption. Notice that the wording is "a few other surprises planned..." This is just my personal observation.

Two things:

First, I got an email saying since I am in the Academic Program I get a special discount, of 20%... but the limited time upgrade is 25%.

Second, when I look to see the price of a base package- say Standard Platinum, it shows a price. Then when I add it to my cart, the price dropped! However, when I added Reformed Platinum, the price did not change. Any ideas why?
