Yes, I am still working on - and trying to understand - Biblical Events. Yes, there appears to be no documentation so I can't see how FL defined an Event to know when things are omitted by error or simply omitted. But trying to assign Community Tags has been a frustrating experience. Things I expect:
- as there are no standard event divisions or titles, I expect to use the Bible Event Guide accessed by Bible Reference as the way to find the Logos events and names that match
- I expect to use detail events not items higher in the hierarchy so that each resource stands on its own re: structure
- I expect to have incomplete coverage because FL prioritizes new data over complete data
However, I find it frustrating that Nameless, Blameless, and Without Shame: Two Cannibal Mothers Before a King (Interfaces series) by Gina Hens-Piazza which never made it out of prepub cannot be tagged appropriately. This book is a college freshman level study of 2 Kings 6:24-33. However, Logos does not consider the story of the cannibal mothers to be of sufficient value to have a Biblical Event entry. Rather it is embedded in Ben-hadad besieges Samaria (2 Kings 6:24-7:2).. Similarly, the event of Jesus making arrangements for his Mother (John 19:25b-27) is not deemed worthy of an entry.
If Faithlife believes that the Biblical Event coding has value, then it needs a feedback loop by which users can show FL the shortcomings of the current coding with some assurance that reporting it will result in a genuine review. Also, if the coding has value then the user needs a way to create proposed entries that they can use until FL makes the appropriate updates. I have checked a variety of Bible canons and translations - none indicate the coming of a software firm that is omniscience in it coding so that it can dictate to the user how they must divide, classify and study the Bible. There must be reiterations based on user-input that bring the coding up to a mutually understood level of accuracy.
