I just downloaded and installed Logos 6, when I select text from Spurgeon and click visual copy I get a message saying some templates were unavailable and when I click retry nothing happens. Thanks!

We're working out some server hiccups with the heavy load this morning; please bear with us, someone will respond to this thread once the issues have settled down. Sorry for the inconvenience!

It's working now! IT would be great if we could choose our own backgrounds to! I have photos and paintings of many of the good, old authors. Thanks!!!

Custom backgrounds has definitely been discussed for a future version, but not in 6.0. Thanks!

I suggested something similar during the Beta cycle. Logos indicated then as Eli has indicated in this thread that it is something they have discussed for a future release.
Keep in mind that if you copy or export you are exporting an image. You can customize that image based on the limitations of whatever image editor you may be using.

Which authors currently have custom templates besides Spurgeon? Is there a list somewhere?

Here's what we have currently. I believe there are plans to grow this list over time.
Aristotle
Charles Spurgeon
D.L. Moody
Homer
J.B. Lightfoot
John Bunyan
John Calvin
John Wesley
Jonathan Edwards
Martin Luther
Oswald Chambers
Plato
Saint Augustine0 -
i loved using visual copy during beta testing for quick and easy export for lessons I was teaching. Very good feature. Glad I don't have to keep it hidden anymore

Does Visual Copy "send to" Keynote?
0 -
It does not support send to Keynote at this time. There is a copy button that could be used to copy and paste into Keynote.
0 -
Keynote is not one of the options. I'm not familiar with it in particular - but You can send it to Proclaim or Powerpoint, you can also save it as a graphic on your desktop, or COPY it to your clipboard. I presume from there you could do anything.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Thank you for the quick responses!
So does "send to" essentially simplify copy and pasting? Or does it add some formatting specific to the targeted presentation software?
0 -
I think it just speeds up the copy paste. I've not really noticed anything fancy happening in powerpoint with it.

Sending to PowerPoint and copying to the Clipboard essentially exports a single image with the embedded text. Images sent to Proclaim include the background image along with the text field(s) information. This allows Proclaim users to further style the text, change the margins, edit the text, etc.

Awesome! Thanks for answering my question.
Not a big deal, but I hope Keynote is integrated into Visual Copy sometime. I love Keynote and have been using it for years. I look forward to using Visual Copy when I upgrade to Logos 6.

I don't understand why Keynote isn't an option. In Logos 5, you could export pictures and media to Keynote. Now, with Logos 6, the only options are PowerPoint and Proclaim. Is Keynote going to be restored as an option?

This is wonderful! Anyway or suggestion as to how to save directly in Logos or do they all need to be exported out?

Thanks for this great feature.

There is no way to save the image directly to Logos. You can save it to your hard drive and move it to wherever you want after that. If I may ask, what were you wanting to do with the images? Were you wanting to curate a collection of slides for future use?

I run across and store many good quotes. Only a few are "slide-worthy" for a Sunday morning. I was just curious if there was a good way to store these for future reference through this feature. I guess I was expecting "Save to Notes" option, but I can do this manually through Notes. Again - great feature! Thank you!

Aaron,
This is not part of the visual copy tool.
What I have done is to create a highlighter pallet that saves to a specific note file. The only highlight method in there is tied to the quick key "Q".
Now when I'm reading and find a quote, I can highlight, tap Q and i'm done.
An alternative would be to create a "clippings" file named quotations and use that.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

As Todd mentioned earlier sending to Keynote is not currently supported from Visual Copy, but we do plan on adding this support in the future. Are you not seeing the ability to send to Keynote media resources other than Visual Copy?

I tried this for the first time this morning. When I tried to share to Facebook and Faithlife, the wrong image was displayed. However, when I saved it to a folder, it was the correct one.

I just tried this myself and it worked correctly for me. A few questions:
- When you say it was the wrong image, what is meant by this? The wrong background, the wrong text, the wrong aspect ratio?
- What platform is this on when this happens? Does it only happen on a specific platform?
- Does this happen with all images sent from visual copy, or only certain backgrounds?

Headed out the door, but does not the screenshot show that the image I chose is not the one being shared?

I just tried this and got exactly the same results - there seems to be a bug here.

I was able to reproduce the issue when using the same bible passage in visual copy. I will create a bug report and send it to the correct people.

I have been playing with this a bit and have a question:
If I select some Bible text and hit visual copy, it does a great job of putting it on whatever background I choose. But it does not bring over the verse reference.
Is there a way to do that?

It seems to when I try it.
Can you provide screenshots showing exactly what you are doing?

I would if I could. [:)]
Now I have a worse problem since I wrote my last post. When I try, it opens the Visual Copy window, but I just get the spinning pizza on the right side.
I have restarted my computer and Logos a couple of times.

There aren't any server issues I'm aware of and I just tested Visual Copy and it worked for me. If you could post your log file that will help me diagnose further. For information on retrieving you log see this https://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging
As Graham mentioned Visual Copy should create a Bible service item in Proclaim when sending a Bible reference so I'm very interested to see the details of the reference you were trying to send.

Hello,
I saw on a tutorial on Visual Copy, that you can have the "Day art". I try it, but among the different templates, I don't see it. I try with the verse and the Bible they use in the tutorials, but nothing.
I'm using a mac, I have the Biblical languages package (with Logos 6), I'm using Logos in French : did one of these things prevents me to have the "Day art" ?
Thanks

Hi Luc-Olivier
Welcome to the forums. I hope that somebody here can give you a definitive answer to your question.
The best way to get help is not to tack a new question onto the end of an old thread but to start a new one. New questions tend to get lost or ignored due to people thinking that the thread has been adequately dealt with and not returning to it. A descriptive title for a new thread really helps as well.
Just to say that when I saw your post I gave it a try on my iMac and MacBook - in both cases the 'Verse of the Day popped up as the first item.

Thanks for your advice, I will start a new thread.
I tried on Windows 7 and there too, it doesn't work...

The more I try to use Visual Copy the disappointed I get in it. But I'm hopeful. One thing that it really needs to do is suggest backgrounds based on the content of the quote. You'd think a quote from the Romans 6:9-10 section of the New American Commentary that mentions both the cross and the resurrection would offer a background that shows either a cross or an empty tomb.

I agree, Kevin. When it was announced, I was really excited for the feature. It turned out to be a dud for me; I don't even try using it anymore.

I agree as well. As a Sunday School teacher that has a room equipped with a projector, Visual Copy was the best tool in L6 that I didn;t even know I needed. I still use it all the time. But I was just thinking the other day it would be nice if my highlighted quote wouldn't go to the same background every time (the one with palm trees; I have Logos Now.) I think it should be easy for Logos to build in some basic algorithms to look for certain words, and target certain backgrounds based on those words. The results may not be acceptable to the user every time, but it would be better than the way it is set up right now.

To add further to what I was saying, I think that if Logos is going to keep the behavior of the quote going into the palm tree background all the time (because it is the first one), then at least they ought to put a generic vanilla background as the first one. I use the palm tree background sometimes, but I don't want to use it all the time! (And changing it adds to the workflow).
But don't get me wrong----VC is a great feature, Logos!

I like the visual copy feature, just a question though. Is it possible to import a custom slide background to use, rather than the options that are given? Thanks
